5 out of 5 eggsThe best Harmony "Universal Controller" ever

Pros: Extremely easy to set up and supports every device I added. The touch screen added a level of control that other controls can't touch. The hard keys as well as the touch screen are well lit. The upright charging station looks good and consumes about 1/4 the space of earlier models.

Cons: Currently I have none.

Other Thoughts: Be careful, the programing is a little different then previous models but its not hard. At initial set up I thought I had received a bad remote. In fact I prematurely requested an RMA, which as always Newegg professionally supported. However, after walking away and coming back later I discovered that I misunderstood a process. Bottom Line, the controller works great.

4 out of 5 eggsVery Nice Remote

Pros: Simple to use, love the touch screen display, software was easy to use and I was setup within 10 minutes, beautiful design

Cons: unit was extremely dirty for a refurbished unit (has to use a lysol wipe on on before letting the kids use it), and the usb cable was defective.

Other Thoughts: I would have given the remote a 5 star but the usb cable was defective and I still can't over the amount if dirt and smudges that was on the remote. Other the the dirty condition of the remote, the remote works beautifully and I highly recommend it .

4 out of 5 eggsHarmony Touch - It's a win.

Pros: Software is a pro for novice users, it's a con for advanced users or people who were used to the Philips Prontu Line, as it's just not as powerful.

It is very face/easy if your devices are in the database. (chances are, they are in the database).

The IR blaster works very well, as stong as any remote I've ever used, including my TSU3000

Battery life isn't an issue. I have 4 kids, my self and my wife all using this remote in our Theater room. It gets used non stop (esp in the summer while my kids aren't in school). I put it on the charging station maybe once every 2-3 weeks. I've never once had the battery run out. Very impressed. My TSU3000 would typically last 2 months between charges, this is probably more around 1 month of very light use, 2 weeks with heavy use. Very acceptable.

Would like a few more hard buttons, the touch screen doesn't work well for page up/down functions on dvrs, but you can program swipe gestures to help with that.

Cons: Few more hard buttons would be nice.

Inability to program power on/off states into the macro's. Example: "Power On" button would be nice, then just switch modes. Tricks like this can be accomplished, but it's hacky.

Ability to add/create custom controller functions is missing/not very well implemented. My Dune HD Base 3D remote wasn't in the database, had to use another dune controller the relearn a lot of functions.

Other Thoughts: I would purchase this again in a heart beat. All in all, it's a wonderful remote, that even my 5 year old can use to control our complex theater room.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Remote, Even Better Price!

Pros: Once I had it setup, everything was easy to figure out. I previously owned a Harmony 550 until the soft backing randomly turned to sticky mush. It was very easy to teach my girlfriend to use. The help controls make it even easier to use than older models.

Cons: Did not include app software. The download didn't work and I used windows 7 64 bit so I used the online setup. Once I got through all the hassle to get to set up, it was a breeze. But that first step wanted me to toss the remote out the window. And I've owned a 550. And I've setup my parents 530 and a pair of the 650 for them. Should be the same but it wasn't.
Every button on the remote light up except the home and star touch buttons. Weird and mildly annoying but not a big deal.

Other Thoughts: People are giving this remote horrible reviews for reasons I cannot explain. My remote arrived in its original box with the seals opened. Remote looked 100% brand new as did the cables, wall wart and dock. I suspect it is nearly 100% customizabe like their other remotes I am used to. Don't like the Home button location? Change it with a few clicks in setup. You can change the background of the screen. You can upload backgrounds, icons, you name it. I think it lasted a few weeks on a full charge. I am not completely sure if I charged it first for a few hours out of the box or overnight. But you get a nice looking dock and it is USB chargeable. Not sure what there is to really complain about. It's nearly perfect which is why I bought a second Harmony and convinced my parents to buy three of them.
I am not super tech savvy. My remote controls my Samsung TV and Pioneer A/V receiver. Non-remote controller items include laptop, Chromecast, PS3, N64 and a record player. No Dish, no cable box nor TiVO. So I don't know how well it works or doesn't work with a 3rd party box. But I've programmed the 530 to work with a Comcast box with ease.
I felt I needed to review this item because of its horrible reviews. Seeing how my experience is far different than many reviewers here, I cannot say if my remote is in the norm or theirs.

1 out of 5 eggsDon't buy it

Pros: None anymore.

Cons: Logitech remotes have to be programmed thru their setup website which they've recently removed. Try clicking on the setup button on the website myharmony and you get This page can't be displayed.

Other Thoughts: Went to program my Harmony and found the website was gone. Wrote to Logitech about this and never heard back. Notice they have no manufacturer responses for really bad reviews here!

2 out of 5 eggsI don't regret many things in life

Pros: but this sadly is one of those things. I wish I had bought the brand new one so I could return it for a refund. Beware of that return policy on refurbs, which I was aware of when I decided to take the risk here

Pros: ... have to think for a minute...
- It's rechargable, and the battery life seems decent (note I said seems)
-Less than a brand new one (thankfully!)

Cons: -Battery life indicator seems to bounce quickly from full power, to like a quarter of life, with no in-between.
-Touchscreen is quirky, frequenly paging left to right, instead of clicking on the channel you're trying to change it to
-DVR controls are HORRIBLY located at the top, instead of down below. The control is not ergonomically comfortable to click the DVR button all the way at the bottom and then slide your hand up to the middle to click the top buttons. It's seriously terrible.
-THE WORST THING about the remote is that it has constantly froze up on me. It wouldn't back out of the help menu, and the swipe function button that you often accidentally click is super annoying to try and stop (like making it accidentally rewind your DVR show). I had to plug it into the laptop to re-sync it (which also takes forever btw), until I had enough and contacted tech support to complain. Tech support informed me that if you hold the power button down for like 7 seconds, it will perform a hard shutdown from which you can power it back on, similar to Windows. Yay... that fixes the issue but it's still annoying to have to do.

Other Thoughts: I can't say how much I dislike this. I hope Logitech sees the ills of their ways with this remote and stops production of it, in favor of a more "Logical" layout of the buttons.

The touch screen idea is cool, but it's not very good in application because of the paging issues. I do like the fact you can set the icons of the channels and just click on them, and that it also automatically hits the enter button after the channel number to speed up the changing, but that's about it.

The firmware update I got a few days ago will hopefully alleviate the freezing issues, but it won't alleviate the terrible button layout/lack of ergonomics for the DVR shuttle functions, or the lack of accuracy of the touch screen button pushing. It's simply not comfortable to hold and doesn't do what you want it to, far too often.

Freezing issues aside the remote is still not a winner, on it's best day. Regretting buying this, big time. Enough to post this review to warn others.

4 out of 5 eggsSo far so good

Pros: Beautiful remote control

Easy migration of settings from previous Harmony remote

Refurbished unit was in great shape. Only way to tell it was a refurb was a small scratch on the charging station.

You can actually make changes to the controller FROM the controller.

Cons: Nothing thus far

Other Thoughts: Unlike some people who opted for the refurb, I had no issues so far. The unit is clean and works fine.

Also, unlike some other reviewers, i don't have an issue with the touchscreen or button layout. Yes, the buttons on the top are a bit inconvenient to reach but there's really no other place to put them with the touch screen front and center.

I also didn't mind the new Harmony website used to program the remote. The migration of settings from an older remote was painless and I found the site to be easy to use

4 out of 5 eggsIts great if it works!

Pros: Easy to Program
Works flawlessly on my equipment
Easy to use

Cons: I was forced to RMA the remote as the included charger did not work at all. I would have thought that it would have been inspected before it was repackaged for resale. To the gentleman who paid to ship it back- They tried to get me to pay to ship mine back but I went to the chat option on newegg's support and they were quick to send me a prepaid label, no fighting required.

5 out of 5 eggsDifferent software

Pros: Harmony always works.....

Cons: A learning curve for sure for most.

Other Thoughts: To the user that can't see it on his PC, you use, NOT the familiar desktop software..... Never in my 6 years as a Logitech dealer have we had a non functioning remote out of the box....

3 out of 5 eggsWorks Great - Missing Parts

Pros: The remote was in very good condition. However, the USB cable was not in the box. Luckily I had another cable that was able to be used. I was able to get a credit from NewEgg. I have used Logitech remotes for many years, I got this one to replace my 880. Has some nice features that the old ones don't have. No complaints.

Cons: Due to it being refurbished, there was missing parts.
