5 out of 5 eggsGreat Product

Pros: Great product! Very sturdy metal construction with built in power supply and power switch. Just great! I love the weight and the ports being on the back. Highly recommend.

Cons: None so far!

5 out of 5 eggsSmall, simple, and effective

Pros: In case "gigabit for shoestring budgets" and "works right out of the box" don't suffice, there's no wall-wart AC adapter, so you don't have to worry about DC voltage, amperage, polarity, plug tip shape, or some beast of a box covering an adjacent outlet. Small, unobtrusive, quiet. Metal case provides some RF shielding (albeit unintentionally).

Cons: 10Base-T connections are "indicated" by displaying a lit connection LED but no corresponding traffic LED ("off" may mean "on"). Hard to distinguish green from yellow on traffic LEDs (gigabit v. fast ethernet, respectively). LEDs tend to light up adjacent indicator windows (a common failing on many LED panels).

If you lose the AC cable, you can't swap in a spare AC cord - the power recepticle uses round pins in a Venn-configured round sleeve, unlike the ubiquitous triple-slat within a trapezoid plug.

Other Thoughts: I have no way to tell if this is indeed "green" other than looking at the electric bill at the end of every month.

The only observation worth mention that isn't of the ordinary is that I can now "call" my boxes by hostname; previously I had to SSH, mount NFS shares, or browse to each computer's remote management URLs by dotted-quad. I don't understand why it works as networking is not my forte, but my machines work just fine now and that's good enough for me.

5 out of 5 eggsworking for 2 months no problems

Pros: Compact, solid feel, power supply built in. Not using it for anything fancy, but do have a couple of devices connected at 1g and seem to be working well.

Cons: None

3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Worked fine out of the box. Good value.

Cons: When I plugged in the NAS, the drive would spin-up and start clicking.
Even with no other ports being used, same problem. Tried all ports with NAS, same thing. Connected the Level One switch, works fine. Maybe a low power problem.

Other Thoughts: I saw another reviewer with the same problem.
Has anyone else had this problem and found a fix?
If so. let me know before I RMA it.

5 out of 5 eggsNice Piece of Hardware

Pros: Nice, sturdy switch at a great price.

Cons: none.

Other Thoughts: We are replacing our 10/100 switches throughout our (budget-concious, Parochial) school with these and I couldn't be happier. I have no diagnostic tools with which to test, but the network just seems to get smoother every time one of these gets plugged in, about 15 and counting.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Switch and why the negative reviews???

Pros: This is an excellent switch for the money. First off, I like it better than the TEG-S80G (I have one of these too). This version, the DB version doesn't have a wall wart. It has a real power cord and a real power switch on the back. I really like this setup. Less clutter on the power strip / UPS. Other than that difference, I think it's pretty much the same switch and this version is less $$. Go figure.

Now for the other silly reviews... first off, this is a switch, not a router and it wouldn't cause your NAS device to not work. For the most part, either it works or it doesn't. Switches don't care about protocol above the ethernet protocol. Sigh... And the review that said it tripped your breaker? Really? I guess you could get a bad power cord or something, but I find it hard to believe. If their was a short in the switch, it's hard to believe that it would draw enough current to trip your breaker. That would typically fry the insides first on the switch.

Cons: The only con is... is that you have to read the bad reviews. This version should totally out sale the D version IMHO. I like it better and as I said above, I have both versions. for $30 and free shipping??? It's a bargin... metal case, nice and sturdy... jumbo frame support etc.. it's nice.

1 out of 5 eggsNot worth it

Pros: easy to set up

Cons: This product absolutely does not work with Seagate external hard drives and NAS. I went from a great working system to a system that I could barely work with. The only reason I was going to change was to upgrade my speed. Customer service was also terrible to work with. After fighting with it for a week, I just decided to go back to my old system. I lost a weeks' worth of production time messing with this router. I wouldn't even give it a "one egg" rating.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat switch

Pros: Integrated power adapter
Simple
Fast

Cons: TRENDnet is not a big name

Other Thoughts: Previous gigabit network only through D-links DIR-655. NAS jumbo frame of 7936. PC jumbo frame of 9014. Max transfer was about 29MB/s. After putting the switch between the 2, max transfer has jumped up to 58 MB/s.

5 out of 5 eggsIt cannot get easier and better

Pros: Inexpensive, got it for Can$34.70 including delivery.
Easy set up. All you do is power it up and connect your devices. That's it.

Cons: It is too easy. I am so used to spending time while connecting new stuff and it did not let me spend any time on it.

Other Thoughts: Newegg delivery was fast. Ordered on Monday and got it on Thursday. Impressed

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Switch

Pros: low power
built in power supply
runs cool
fast

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: This is a great switch I have listed the pros above I see no cons. However, I wish more vendors of soho gear would make switches with built in power supplies it's time to get rid of the power bricks.
