1 out of 5 eggsFailed to ship product

Pros: Antononline maeketplace seller seems to not be shipping products right now, my purchase is just sitting there with not even a note that shipper even received the shipping data. Been 7 days and nothing, not even a status update on shipping, is just BLANK like this crummy seller.

Cons: Never shipped

5 out of 5 eggsNo problems in first 6 months

Pros: Unlike various other USB wireless adapters, I have not had any problems with this one. No mysterious disconnects that require disconnecting/reconnecting, no reinstallation of drivers/software, etc. It has simply done what it is supposed to do without trouble for over 6 months.

Cons: None that I know of.

3 out of 5 eggsSmall,Great Range,Lag

Pros: Small, easy setup, great range

Cons: Lag issues.

Other Thoughts: Mostly likely a bug in the driver but have severe lag issues when gaming. Verified this with an alternative network adapter. Current driver version 1.0.0.4. Maybe this will be fixed in the next driver version.

4 out of 5 eggsNew Life for Old Notebook

Pros: Used this adapter on an aging 54G notebook. Loaded the software, plugged in the adapter, and connected. Hooks at a high speed, maintains a high signal lock, and so far doesn't drop. Don't like more things sticking out so only use for file dumps, not surfing. Even then, this little adapter is really small. Easy bump from 54mbps to 300mbps

Cons: So far no complaints at all.

Other Thoughts: Getting another for the wifes little netbook for photo dumps.

1 out of 5 eggsI've tried everything

Pros: Um, it's small. That's why I purchased it.

Cons: Drivers are not functional under Win 7 64.

Other Thoughts: If I were able to install it or if Netgear would release functional drivers for Win 7 64, I might be able to provide better pros and cons..

4 out of 5 eggsWPS never suggested

Pros: Works great after tweaks

Cons: To Clarify, the NetGear techs "did not" suggest the WPS. I decided to try that after he wanted to downgrade my security & change my SSID password to something simple. (Never a good idea.) He put me on hold for a few minutes to talk to his supervisor and suggested another high profile adapter from NetGear which I repeatedly told him would not work for me. 3 or 4 cut-offs and nobody created a case or even entered notes tells me they have a culture prioritizing quick phone calls as opposed to fixing things. I have done DSL tech support & call length is a big rating factor for techs, but you have to fix things if you want to make customers happy or even keep them.

Other Thoughts: I am not sure that I could recommend NetGear for anybody that is not very technical already.

4 out of 5 eggsUse WPS

Pros: I have a pretty new Netgear DGN 3500 Router and I am now getting a solid 300Mbps in the room with my router and the room above it. Above 250 Mbps when connected.

Cons: I was using the combined WPA security setting on the router with a password. I let the NetGear tech remote in and he wanted to downgrade my security in "the hope" that it would s peed up my connection from a max of 54 Mbps. My old Linksys Adapter was typically a solid 150 Mbps or above with the DGN 3500 and the same setting. He seemed pretty iffy about that doing anything so I declined and told him I would just return it if their best low profile adapter was "incompatible" (his words) with one of their best routers I just bought. Anyway, I decided to reinstall the software with the WPS function and wow. 250-300 Mbps when in connection range. I was cut off from 3 Net Gear Tech Support people before I found the last guy that at least pointed the way to security settings. They seemed overwhelmed and may have just hung up on me. None of them created a case. The last tech suggested trying the WPS. was guess on my part after he said it was a known security between the 3500 & 3100.

Other Thoughts: The speed and connectivity drops off at the far end of the house but that's part of the deal when you go low profile. I can give that up for not physicall breaking off the network adapter. The internal one on my ASUS laptop stopped working which is why I bought this adapter and the Linksys AE 2500 that is almost broken in half :-(
