5 out of 5 eggsWorks Great

Pros: Item is currently running my laptop build @ 300Mbs. Extremely easy to set-up, I'm happy, it connects to my d-link ; Dir-655 router perfectly, and I have 2 laptop's, a desktop, 2 wireless printers, and 3 smartphones at my house.

Cons: none yet.

Other Thoughts: Make sure to disable any current network adapters before executing your installation, if you have any current built in cards you might have if you're trying to upgrade. They can be found in "START" , "CONTROL PANEL" , "NETWORK and INTERNET" , "NETWORK and SHARING CENTER" , "CHANGE ADAPTER SETTINGS".
Disable don't uninstall. You also want to go to the properties and uncheck everything.

1 out of 5 eggsTerrible

Pros: has a product defect, the manufacture warranty was removed because they know it doesn't work Don't buy it, any pros it has are ruined by the fact it doesn't work.

Cons: breaks after 1 week, terrible windows 7 support,

Other Thoughts: Terrible, you have about a 95% chance of getting one with the defect, its not worth the risk.

5 out of 5 eggsD-Link Xtreme N Dual-Band USB Adapter (DWA-160), Wireless N600

Pros: Easy plug and play. No issues with set up. Used it in 3 different lap tops now with no problems. Still working after 3 years.

Cons: The new wireless USB adapters are a bit smaller, but I would still recommend this product to anyone looking for a reliable USB adapter.

5 out of 5 eggsThis one works

Pros: Absolutely no problems with this product. I had tried several others that plugged into the mobo and had the rabbit ears sticking out the back of the pc. None of those worked for me. I had gone back and forth to the big box store, they started thinking I worked there. I have D-Link through out the house and stayed with their products thinking they would play together better. Plug in setup and your done. This is about 40ft. from the main hub and having to go through walls and around corners. But picked up the signal all the same. No let down, speed wise either, to my surprise.

Cons: I didn't think initially that this simpler device would work and thought I needed something heavy duty to get a signal through that many walls. But this USB has done the job.
Should have gone the easier route from the beginning instead of the high and might road.

Other Thoughts: I'll be picking up another because these work for me.
I know that's not always the case for everyone and you need to find what works best for you. All equipment is on one floor

2 out of 5 eggsPoor Linux support for B2 revision

Pros: It's not like the hardware is horrible...

I like that it comes with a USB cable + stand so you don't have to plug such a fat device in at your USB port.

Cons: On Linux if you get the B2 revision of this device it will use an RT5572 chipset, which is not supported (to my knoweldge) by Kernel drivers listed on wireless.kernel.org as of 11/2012.

This leaves you with the Ralink drivers which are source downloadable from Ralink's website, but they're kind of buggy. If you fiddle with them it's possible to get improvement, but getting them to compile and install on 12.04.1 Ubuntu seemed leave them in a state where they drop connections frequently and the device needed to be replugged in.

Other Thoughts: Probably better Linux support will arrive eventually for the B2 revision, but it might be a while.

1 out of 5 eggsTrash

Pros: Good connection speed while it worked.

Cons: After 3 weeks it starts having problems and can no longer search for wireless networks. I uninstall the drivers to see if they needed to be reinstalled and i tried to install the newest driver. I keep getting an error that the instance was already running when it was not. The cost of this is unbelievable high for such a low grade product.

Caveat emptor

4 out of 5 eggsWD Live TV Hub

Pros: Signal is consistent and I've had no issues with streaming HD video over the connection.

Works with the WD Live TV Hub.

Cons: My device is only showing 2 of 3 bars for signal strength and it's only in the next room. I got this adapter specifically because it matches my D-Link Xtreme N Dual Band router. Both devices brag about a 300Mbps connection but I'm only getting about 60-70 for some reason. I've checked for interference and competing wireless channels and I see no reason for this except maybe it's a problem with the Live Hub.

Other Thoughts: Other's have had issues with this newer revision not working on the WD Live TV Hub, but it works for me (with the latest firmware). WD has probably updated their firmware to support it.

I don't get anywhere near a 300Mbps connection but I have no trouble streaming HD media, so no real loss I guess. It just bugs me that it's not performing at its peak.
