Just connect it to your cable or satellite box, insert a disc and you're ready to go. The Regza Link lets you use the control of your Regza TV to start recording remotely.

4 out of 5 eggsDVR620

Pros: It does a great job of copying. Had on trouble

Cons: It needs to be a little more self explaining on finishing the process, with title and finalize the disk.

Other Thoughts: The learning process is the hardest, a good recorder, other than that.

1 out of 5 eggsDon't buy one of these!

Pros: ~ Quick and Easy setup.

Cons: Initially VHS tapes played fine, that was for all of about 10 minutes. When I decided to press the "dubbing" button to make a copy on to a DVD, suddenly the VHS tapes play in fast-forward mode now. Not sure what caused it. Will try Toshiba "tech support" in the morning since I can't return it!!

Other Thoughts: This product isn't worth the money or time wasted trying to get it fixed.

1 out of 5 eggsToshiba DVD Don't buy

Pros: Price

Cons: Previous reviews are old and do not apply to the current recorder. Toshiba DOES NOT offer support for this item and does not offer warranty service other than that from the seller. The recorder responds to the remote and the buttons on the recorder on a hit an miss basis. You have to repeatedly push the buttons to get a response; ie open the door, start, etc.

Other Thoughts: With no support available and probably no warranty unless NewEgg provides it for a year, save yourself the money and headaches DON"T BUY TOSHIBA

4 out of 5 eggsGreat product

Pros: This product was recommended to me by my son, a computer professional. I purchased it primarily to convert my VHS tapes to DVD. Eventually they will be edited and installed on my computer.
The set up was easy, using the provided cables. With some difficulty (see 'Cons') the 'dubbing' was accomplished. The resulting DVD was very satisfactory.

Cons: Even though I had burned CD's and finalized them I did not realize that the DVD's had to be finalized. The instructions for 'dubbing' were on page 50 of the manual but the instructions for finalizing were on page 32 - with no notice after dubbing to consult page 32. Of course, the unfinalized DVD would not play on another piece of equipment. A neighbor's player discovered my error.

Other Thoughts: I would definitely buy this again and would highly recommend it to others.

1 out of 5 eggsDOA and Bad Warranty

Pros: None

Cons: 90-Day warranty (Won't the product last any longer than 3 months?)
DOA
Couldn't load tape into the VCR side.
Disk tray wouldn't open to load a DVD.

Other Thoughts: Unfortunately I didn't try to use mine till after the 90-day warranty had expired.

1 out of 5 eggsVHS does mot work

Pros: Good quality when it plays

Cons: Stops playing every 5 min. I get a new one from Newegg but it malfunctioned exactly what the first one did.

Toshiba tech support wanted me to do testing with a set up I didn't have so they said they would not help me. Newegg sent me another one but I had to pay shipping to them and the new one didn't work either.

Other Thoughts: This certainly soured me on Toshiba products.

4 out of 5 eggsnice for price

Pros: Nice combo for the price, good picture, recording capabilities, and upconversion.

Cons: Haven't seen any serious problems yet.

Other Thoughts: These days anything with a "vcr" is being made very cheaply so it breaks down soon and you have to buy another one or get rid of vcr's altogether so you will "get with the new" stuff. But I still have alot of tapes. Don't think anyone should be economically forcing us to go to a newer format because their money is in it. I recently bought one of the combo player/recorders that only lasted 8 months when the picture began to fail. When I looked under the hood, I found out the graphics processor was blazing hot and they had not installed a heat sink. Heat is the killer of chips. That's how they fail. Cheap on purpose in order to fail. Check for a heat sink on the hot chips.
Would've given 5 stars, but these things are being made too cheaply anymore. I have owned vcr's in the past that lasted over 20 years with a lot of use. These days you're lucky to get one year out of them, it's practically criminal.

4 out of 5 eggsQuality Product

Pros: Good unit with above average quality and features.

Cons: None that I can relate.

Other Thoughts: Take your time. There are many things you can do with this including titles, chapters...pausing to add more to the disc...and timing record from dvr/tv. I recommend you buy http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817507003 here on newegg when you get the unity. Quality disks are important and these are very good and at a great price over buying them from a box store.

1 out of 5 eggsReturn policy

Pros: Ordered from desk and it was delivered to my door.

Cons: Purchased for a school last spring. Opened late this summer to find it does not work. Tried to return it, but too late! Had to contact Toshiba. It will cost $90 to return it. What a waste of money and time!

Other Thoughts: Lessoned learned. Open immediately and make sure it works within the 30 return policy. Or purchase locally.
