In 2002, the Lodge team made history when they developed a proprietary vegetable oil spray system with high temperature gas ovens that could “season” the cookware before it ever leaves their South Pittsburgh foundry. Cheaper than Walmart, especially with free shipping. Cons: Heavy. But not really a con since it IS cast iron. Other Thoughts: I have three cast iron pans. I will never use teflon anymore. Real heavy duty pot. Cooked soup, stew and mashed potatoes in this pot. Outstanding taste. I've been looking for quite a while for this kind of pot, but this one just hit the spot - the price and quality that you can't beat. Ahhh, and the free shipping for such heavy object. Works for me.
