Pros: It cools 320sqft decently in high temps and doesnt dehumidify as much as other portable AC units and it doesnt fill up with water quite as often as others as well.

As mentioned above, when it is in it's heating mode it doesnt dehumidify the room as much where as another portable heater/ac i have leaves my room incredibly dry and uncomfortable.

Cons: It's heating function is best used in small to medium sized rooms i think my room is around 320sqft and it can barely do the job when it's snowing outside.

When it fills up with water the only way to empty the unit is by a plug at the very bottom, where as my other portable AC/Heater has a plug half way up that you can hook up a hose to and place in a bucket to drain.

The LEDs on the front panel start to flicker after a while which makes me question the quality of the product.

Heating function no longer works after about a year and a half of usage and EdgeStar customer service has yet to respond after 3 months of emailing them.

Other Thoughts: About 3 months ago my unit no longer turns on when i switch to it's heating function. I hear the heat pump rev up and see the LCD indicate it's warming up but the fan never comes on and it just stays at 90f. I contacted EdgeStar about this but never received a reply.

I dont recommend buying this brand seeing as the customer service is non existent.

Pros: This unit doesn't work miracles, but it does get the job done.

It's 102F outside right now according to google, and my top floor, 550 sf apartment is still hovering around 79F. I use it in conjunction with a smaller 5600 BTU unit during nasty heat waves.

Other positives are the build quality and price point, setup was very easy.

Cons: Its optimal in spaces that aren't partitioned. I imagine this unit could keep a 500 sf room very cool if it was only used in that room. It also has a hard time working if the ambient gets above 90, so the unit needs to run almost continuously if you live in say, Phoenix or during heat waves.

Other Thoughts: All in all it's a decent unit. I still think a through-window is a better bet but if like me you live in a building with a challenging electrical layout it does provide the flexibility to setup anywhere within about 6-7 feet of an outlet. The air tubes can also be stretched to about 4' with no loss in efficiency. As a portable unit setup was also extremely easy. The only tool you need is a philips head screwdriver and you're set. Also a hacksaw that can cut PVC is advisable if you want to cut down the window extensions.

Pros: Seems to be quality built

Cons: The water tank holds only 5 cups by my measure--which it currently fills in about 3 hours. Not only is the reservoir small, it is not removable and the drain is only about 2" from the base of the unit, so until you go the hardware store and buy a piece of 1/2" ID tubing, and place the unit on some kind of base, you can look forward to figuring out how to pick up the 75lb unit high enough to put something under it so you can drain the unit.

There is also no target setting for % humidity, so you are just stuck guessing.

Also, it came well packaged for one shipment. You will never get this thing back into its box.

I would not recommend this to a friend.

Pros: Very nice looking unit, black with a silver panel and blue digital read outs. All of the parts and hoses are included so instal was very easy. The window panel parts are made of a heavy pvc plastic that can be cut very easily if need be. Dual port intake and exhaust. Remote works great.

Cons: I'm disappointed at the cooling capabilities of the unit. I will say that my expertise on these types of units is limited but I do know window units and central air. I could not get it to cool below 76f with outside air intake/exhaust. Outside temp is 85f here in Texas and starting to go up.. So I did the recirculate room air and got it down to 72f........ Not cool enough in my opinion for a 300sqf room. ESPECIALLY for $479....a little louder than a window unit.

Other Thoughts: Had I not needed this type of unit I never would have bought it. I needed it for a front room and did not want a window unit popping out the window. Weird but the fan speeds are very close to being the same, fast. I'll wait to see if it fails....

Pros: Cooling area = 650 sq ft

Outside ambient (last few weeks) = 75-85F (65-70F night)

Fan setting = full/high/3

AC temperature setting = 69F

Inside ambient = 70F to 74F
(rarely exceeds 75F, which is quite good considering the high ceilings & large area to cover for the unit & proliferation of electronic equipment used in the apt.)

Nice style for an AC unit: black & silver, blue led & blue backlight LCD; does not look out of place beside my pioneer elite plasma & other electronics

Overall: It works well and seems reasonably well made and the remote is nice to have as well.

Cons: a bit noisy, but expected for what it is... think fan noise, air moving sounds, not mechanical or motor sounds...

the vent for cold air is directionally limited, the cold air always has an upward angle of flow which is ok for cooling a room, but it is nice to get some direct air sometimes...

it is a bit louder than window units i've had but other portable units of similar BTU ratings are in the same decibel ballpark...

Other Thoughts: The unit works well enough, but I've not owned other portable AC units to compare. I've had small window units which are intrinsically more efficient designs but don't have the flexibility that the portable unit brings. I have a 650 sqft apartment. It doesn't get very hot in summer but far too hot for me and can be sweltering with all of my PCs & electronics running. This unit keeps up with the demand. It's been in the 80s recently, and my apt is too large for a single AC unit, but rarely gets over 75F in the apartment and usually is cooler. It seems reasonably well made and has good styling (for an AC unit). I'm happy with it so far.
