Other Thoughts: My old Sony 12" active sub finally died after 8 years, so I began my usual internet scour. I decided to get a 15" sub this time, but all I could find were cheap, no-name knock-offs and of course, the high-end, high priced picks of the litter. I feel the need to put my two cents in here.... The Sony's amp was isolated from the enclosure by being mounted outside, protected from the repeated impacts of a bass driver's sound waves. I've read countless opinions about the reasons why the on board amps die so soon, and I also read a review about this Cadence sub. It complained about a solid MDF baffle inside the enclosure at the rear, in front of the amp that resulted in a slightly higher frequency response than was expected by the "experts". Then, in that same blog, Cadence replied: The baffle was there to protect the amplifier. I believe that's why the Sony lasted for eight years.
I decided after reading more responses about the quality of this sub's build, and the quality parts used in it's design, to take the chance and dam the only "expert" review I'd found online. Which was later up-graded to outline the same high quality points I've just mentioned. I purchased it elsewhere and i just got it two days ago. It's not even broke in yet. But, I have to say: It rocks! It's beautiful and has much more power than I'll ever need! I have all my speakers set at 200hz and the sub is set for bypass for full range. The volume is at 1/4! Totally awesome in my music and my movies. And I think the engineering is perfect, because the slightly higher frequency response, allows me to enjoy music without all that booming I used to get from my Sony trying too hard to be a 15" sub! I LOVE THIS THING! I'm thinking of buying another one in the future and keeping it in the box, so I don't have to be without it ever again. I just don't know "WHERE" I would store it because this thing is massive, even without the box.
If you want a quality 15" sub woofer GO FOR IT! If you simply "have" to have the pick of the litter, well... It's your money! I don't have any instruments to measure all this stuff, but the guy from Cadence made a lot of sense. He said: the sound testing for that review, was done outside, but in the real-world, this sub will be in your living room. That's all I have, except this: If you already own this sub, or if you buy it in the future. I think we owe it to Cadence to review it so others might purchase it as well. We should help preserve this company that wants to bring quality AND affordability to our living rooms....

Pros: Well built enclosure, most of the weight comes from the enclosure. Not much positive feedback with this product. Cons out weigh the pros.

Cons: Hardly and excusion of this driver. Sub weighs no more than 13lbs. The volume of the box is very tinny

Other Thoughts: Not even worth spending the money at any price range. I have spent a lot of time trying to like this sub. No matter what I do I get the same results. The subs performance is bad. Pops very easily and distortion at low volumes. I have put it in different places in the room even in acloset. It helped some with the overall output. But the sub just can't handle any power. If I turn the amp down its too ridiculously quit. It performs best with the volume up all the way and the bass bost at 5db and the frequency at around 100hz. Just so I can hear the darn thing. I have spent more money to ship it to cadence just to see if there was something wrong with it. And I finally got an answer, there was nothing wrong with. It's just a cheap sub.

I finally found the sub I have been looking for. And I would recommend definitive technology for this price and higher.
