5 out of 5 eggsI didn't know how good waffles could get

Pros: Excellent waffles! I mean really excellent waffles! These are not American/Belgian style "cake with dimples" waffles but more European/Scandinavian type thinner ones, and man are they good.

I've never seen a waffle iron that cooks as fast as this (in part because they're thinner, in part because they put a proper heating element in it). A beeper that tells you when it's ready so you don't have to keep glancing to see if the light is on like with other irons.

The waffles are so good we had to force ourselves to stop nibbling them like cookies while we were making them, they're that good that they don't even need syrup. They're like excellent cookies as soon as you slide them out of the iron.

Cooks evenly, near zero mess and as easy to clean as any we've found so far.

I *love* Belgian waffles but after a couple of go 'rounds with the waffles from this one the only thing Belgium is noteworthy for now is Roger DeCoster!

Cons: It's not actually a con, just something that might annoy visual image perfectionists. They get slightly less browned right at the outer edge, particularly if you use the lightest color setting. They're still cooked, still have a bit of crisp at the edge, great texture and most importantly, the flavor is still excellent.

Other Thoughts: We've been through a series of waffle irons, generally low quality things that make a mess, cook unevenly, are hard to use and even harder to clean, or all of the above. We decided to try this one based on reviews on other sites and definitely not sorry we did. Worth every penny.

Some tips: the basic batter recipe they give is excellent though it will work with box mixes too. Don't pour the syrup on them or they'll be extremely soggy in seconds - dip each bite in syrup before you eat it. Much mo' bettah.

I can't wait for fresh strawberries from the garden next year, though I may pass out from taste bud overload when they're combined with the waffles this cranks out.
