5 out of 5 eggsLoving this camera!

Pros: 1. This camera is far cheaper than any of the GoPro models being sold to by the company (GoPro Hero 2s are no longer sold).

2. The camera comes with a lot of accessories compared to the GoPro models.

3. It comes with a remote. I'm not sure if the White and Silver Hero 3s come with remotes...I know the Black does, but at that price, it *should*.

4. It has an integrated LCD viewer. The Hero 3s do not. They use LCD modules ($80). The Black comes with the LCD BacPac...I'm not sure if the White and Silver do.

5. It will fit some of the GoPro mounting joints (but will not fit the GoPro mounts themselves).

6. It can be placed on a tripod mount out of the box. This is a $20 option for the GoPros.

7. It comes with an 8GB (although Class 4) SDHC card.

Cons: 1. The CM-7500 isn't on par with most of the GoPro Hero 3s when it comes to FPS. The fastest FPS it will do is 60fps @ 720p (the rest of the modes are at 30fps, with the exception of WVGA, which is 60fps).

2. The microphone is virtually captures sound horribly.

3. An external mic can't be used (there are other methods of capturing sound, though).

4. Waterproof case black lens band can actually be seen when in 720p.

5. FOV is non-adjustable.

Other Thoughts: First of all, this is NOT a GoPro camera. I don't even think it's a GoPro clone. There are a lot of other cameras out there with a similar form factor, so I'm not going to say that this is a bootleg copy of a GoPro.

I want to immediately list the pros & cons of this camera, compared to the GoPro Hero 3s Note that this camera is actually more comparable to a Hero 2.

A few other things:

- Spare batteries can be bought from For this particular model, extra batteries are $10 each. There is also a battery & charger kit selling on the web. Search for CM-7500 and Timetec (the charger brand). Each battery normally lasts 1.5 hours. If you buy the charger kit, you'll have 3 batteries. The charger can be plugged into the wall or can be plugged into a laptop via micro-USB cable.

- The footage that I've captured with this camera compares very well to the footage I've taken with my Hero 2. In fact, I would say that the footage is cleaner.

- The camera is robust enough to where it's withstood several significant drops while within it's waterproof case. I was trying to capture footage while I threw it up in mid-air, as high as I could (over grass). I dropped it several times and while it was on grass, the hits were rather significant. The camera handled the impacts like a champ.

- I've read some reviews of this camera that hint at poor QA. I've not run into problems yet, but I did purchase the 3rd party insurance for this camera.

This camera is definitely one of the better things I've purchased.

Pros: Lots of mounts included. Several ways to configure those mounts to accommodate a plethora of surfaces and options. Seems fairly durable and strong. Decent instructions. (NO Chinglesh) Video quality seems good so far. Ive tested it around the house and yard and it seems to be clear and crisp. Im running a KIngston 32 gig (ahem I mean 29 gig!!) class 10 SD card. At the full 1080 I was able to take crisp video. However its only 30 frm/s. There is a 720 setting with 60 frm/s that looks as good as the 1080 but gives you the option to edit a little better and you can use slow motion effects.

Cons: Not much in the way of accessories offered by the manufacturer. I have not attempted to search for batteries by the manufacturer number yet but Ive read that it has been a challenge. I also do not know if this camera is compatible with Gopro mounts or modules. By all appearances I think they are swappable. What good is a clone if you cant use existing parts.

Other Thoughts: This is my first Gopro'ish camera so I dont have a strong knowledge base to say if one is better than the other. I understand that the Hero 3 can do 1080 at 60 frm/s. That would have leveled the playing field for this camera I do believe. Be that as it may, for less than 200 clams this camera performs. I will be testing my camera on a dive here soon as well as doing some arial photography from my R/C aircraft. On videos and pics around the house everything looks stellar. Keep in mind this will not function as standard house camera because of the fisheye nature of the lens. For action shots and distance shots its not too bad but up close you get the big nose in the camera effect. I have to say that even if this is somewhat sub-par to the Hero 3 that its more than enough for me at this point. Especially at this price point. I will also be checking to see if these cameras fit in Gopro housings and visa versa.

The bottom line is so far the pic/video quality is solid and seems to be true HD quality. The fisheye effect is kind of a bummer but is also part of the package that makes these cameras so effective. Build quality seems solid and the clamp/seal on the housing is tight. The remote is also a nice bonus that opens doors to whole other series of possibilities. I wish there was more manufacturer support out there for extra parts or a website that officially reports on what, if any Gopro mounts and accessories are swappable. I recommend this camera to anyone looking to edge in on the action camera on a budget.
