5 out of 5 eggsIt Works!

Pros: Prints great across the network. Now I don't have to have a computer running just to print, or, if the computer that the printer is on is down for whatever reason, printing is no longer a problem. Print Server is very small and it fits into a back corner of the desk behind the router and modem so it's out of the way.

Cons: I haven't seen any yet.

Other Thoughts: If this is as difficult to set up as some people say it is, I probably would have given this a poor review. I am not the kind of guy that uses the provided discs because they usually install a lot of stuff you don't need. But, thanks to the reviews by Alligator and especially shademand, I was able to install the Print Server without even taking the disc out of the box. I could setup the whole thing with Windows and my browser. After following their tips, I had it setup in five minutes and I was printing just like before. I prefer using web-based tools and configurations because they are very lightweight and easily accessible from anywhere on the network. After I had the IP set, I opened up the configuration page of the Print Server to verify settings and when I checked the list of approved devices (Canon PIXMA MP500, my printer), it wasn't even on the list, but the Print Server still works perfectly with it! I am very satisfied with this purchase and I am also happy that someone (shademand) took the time to outline the proper way to set this up without having to jump through a lot of hoops to do so. Considering options are limited for some reason when it comes to Canon Print Servers (because very few seem to support Canon printers), I am very happy that this one worked out with a little help from other reviewers and only 5 minutes of time. And, it worked on a model that they didn't even have listed as compatible!

5 out of 5 eggsUSB 2.0 Print Server Hub

Pros: Easy setup

Great price

Cons: None so far

Other Thoughts: Log into print server give it a static IP to match your network.
Be sure to go to programs and features/add or remove programs > turn windows features on or off. Turn on the following under Print and Document Services. LPD Service and LPR Port Monitor. in Devices and Printers add a printer. Add a local printer > create a new port > create a LPR port. Use the set IP address and the Server's name. Use the printer's disc to install the driver. After setup is complete and test page works. Log into your router set a static IP for the print server then log into the print server and change the setting to DHCP.

1 out of 5 eggsAbsolute Garbage

Pros: None.

Cons: I tried absolutely everything to get this to work. Could not do it. Print server was found and setup properly but would not print. Tried on two different systems, one XP and one Win 7. No good. Tried printing directly to TCP address under LPR. No good. Tried to find any customer service. There is NONE. NADA.
Just avoid the headache and go somewhere else.

1 out of 5 eggsDon't buy this useless junk!

Pros: None.

Cons: Doesn't work at all. No tech support or customer support at all. Setup software finds the printer but cannot print to it. The problem cannot be resolved because there is absolutely no tech support. Don't waste your time. Getting a refund.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Product

Pros: Easy to configure, be sure to configure TCP port to custom LPR will wouk with almost any printer

Cons: Provided softeare is a little qurkie, have to set IP and click "restart" is rather than "set" to move it off of DHCP

Other Thoughts: seting up a network print server is not for newbies, but this is the easiest I have ever setup.
