5 out of 5 eggsWorks Great

Pros: Works

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Bought one about a year ago from this seller worked great for a year the stopped reading disc. Bought it again just recently changed over the board from bad drive to new one works great. Note: I put over 2500 hours on the last disk drive I bought from this seller so for me to replace disk drive once a year is not a big investment as its cheaper than buying a new xbox. So to anyone that is a casual gamer this disk drive should last you a good year an a half to maybe 3 years depending on environment and Xbox care

1 out of 5 eggsVery Poor Quality Products

Pros: The dvd-rom drive does read my games.

Cons: Badly scratched on front plate. Where ejection button attaches was broken (plastic nubs). Screws holding pcb board in place were rusted and parts of the board as well.

Other Thoughts: I swapped out my pcb board into the new dvd-rom drive I got from them and replaced screws that were rusted. Also had to use a screw to hold ejection button in place.

Overall I would never recommend this company to anyone period. They are selling very low quality parts and you don't know what you are getting until it arrives in the mail. Not good business practice and I expect someone to sue them eventually.

2 out of 5 eggsDrive was not new

Pros: It worked for what I needed it for.

Cons: The drive I received was refurbished. When I opened the drive the circuit board was broke and glued in place. I bought this to fix my xbox drive so I planned on using my old board anyway.

Other Thoughts: This drive looked like someone without much skill repaired their drive and sent this one back. I was pretty disappointed with the appearance of the internals. On a positive note, the drive performs well.

1 out of 5 eggsYou WILL be banned!

Pros: fix your xbox?

Cons: You WILL be banned for tampering with your console, good if you dont care and just want an offline device. Dont believe me if you want, but give it 6 months to a year but when a banwave hits goodbye xbox live.

4 out of 5 eggsIt arrived

Pros: It worked after performing the required surgery. one of the legs was broken and the internal circuit board was broken. I was very concerned that it wouldn't work. The drive is much noisier than the original, but it does work

Cons: broken stand off, busted circuit board

Other Thoughts: For a used drive in this shape, I would have expected the cost to be a bit less.

1 out of 5 eggsTerrible experience...

Pros: Easy installation, re-soldering PCB board went painlessly. Looked like a brand new drive.

Cons: As soon as I took this drive out of it's package I noticed one of the screws securing the case was floating around in the bag. Not a big deal, but when I tried to screw it back in, it was obviously not the correct screw, in fact, none of the four screws were the right size and would fall out when turning the drive over. The drive never appeared to be opened due to the Quality Assurance sticker. On further inspection the PCB board was missing a 20mm X 15mm chunk and about 15 circuit traces had been bridged with wire and there was RUST on a few mechanical parts... Since I didn't need the new board I just ignored it. Installation of new PCB board was simple and the drive read discs on the first try. However, a week later while playing Halo 4 there was a loud grinding noise that obviously came from the drive and the game stopped playing. it took a couple of tray ejects to get it to work again but the problems were mounting. While playing Black Ops II, textures wouldn't display properly but I know it wasn't an overheating problem because it started as soon as I joined a match. Walls were without texture and just a flat green color. next the grinding noise happened more and more and now the drive wont read at all.

Other Thoughts: Gave up on my old XBOX and stood in line outside Best Buy on their Black Friday midnight opening. It was a good time and I got a 250 gig console, two games, headset and a new controller for $199. Good deal! DO NOT buy this drive!!!! It seems that it was defective from the beginning and might have even been a refurbished drive and\or stored outside or in a damp cave. Not even going to waste my time trying to return this piece of junk.

5 out of 5 eggsGood drive

Pros: -Worked perfectly on the first go

Cons: -none

Other Thoughts: Instead of re-soldering the wires that attach the board to the drive, do this:
-Remove 3 data ribbons from circuit board. Be gentle, the locks let go right away when they're open.
-Remove 2 small Phillips screws holding circuit board to drive.
-Let circuit board hang next to drive.
-Remove 4 torx screws (roughly penny-sized in diameter) holding track/laser in place.
-Do the above steps on both the new drive and your old drive.
-Swap track/laser from new drive into your old drive. Screw torx back in, as well as the small Phillips, and reconnect 3 data ribbons.

You now have a brand new drive that has your old circuit board (and old firmware code). No soldering required. This method worked for me and took only a few minutes.

5 out of 5 eggsFirmware Version

Pros: A great replacement drive for the Microsoft XBox 360.

Cons: None. Gets wear and tear like any other Game Console DVD Drive.

Other Thoughts: These DVD Drives are not exactly "Finger Printed" so to speak. When updating the XBox 360 with a new Dashboard/Firmware, the process compares the Firmware on the Motherboard (Stored in the NAND Chip) with the Model/Firmware version of the DVD Drive that was installed at the Factory. If these two variables do not match then the update will fail with the last 8 digits of something like -C000-0001. If you "Hot-Swap" a DVD Drive from another XBox 360 with the same Hardware/Firmware Revision, the Dashboard/Firmware update will install normally. If needed, with the proper technical expertise, you can "re-flash" (Spoof) the needed revision to your new DVD Drive. If you do not have the original DVD Drive to extract the Key from, then you must extract the Key from the Nand on your XBox 360 Motherboard.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks Great!

Pros: To replace an xbox dvd drive, it's not as simple as just removing the old one and swapping in a new one. Each drive is coded to the individual xbox mobo. To overcome this, you either flash the old drive to the new one, or physically swap the circuit card in the old drive into the new one. I opted to swap them out. After about 20 minutes of simple solder, I was back in business. The new drive works great. No problems.

Cons: If you don't know how to solder, either experiment on something other than this card for about 30 minutes and then proceed, or pay someone (which likely costs more than this drive does) to do it for you.
