HID (High Intensity Discharge) refers to lighting technology that relies on an electrical charge to ignite xenon gas contained in a sealed bulb. A normal halogen bulb uses a filament which can burn out in as little as 200 hours. HID bulbs are gas filled capsules that are rated for a lifespan of nearly 4500 hours. HID bulbs also shine much brighter due to this technology.
Unlike halogen bulbs, HID's emit a type of light that closely resembles natural daylight and is therefore easier on human eyes. In fact, HID lights are currently used in most sports arenas, stadiums, and train stations worldwide. Don't be fooled by lower end Xenon replica bulbs sold at most retail shops. They are no match for the intensity, purity, and efficiency of high intensity discharge headlights.

Low quality product with high quality results
Pros: -Cheap (cost me $35 shipped)
Cons: - Cheap (You get what you pay for)
Other Thoughts: Overall, I like the brightness of the light, the color of the light, and the quickness in warming up for the HID's. However, the product manual and box were shady at best. For $35, I wasn't expecting much more, which is why I would not rate this product poorly; I got exactly what I was expecting. Ordering this product through Imagestore was painless because they gave me a replacement set for free, no questions asked when they heard that my first set was not working properly.

Cons: THESE ARE NOT MEANT TO REPLACE HALOGEN BULBS FOR STREET USE. Halogen headlamps and HID headlamps require very different optics to produce a safe and effective—not to mention legal—beam pattern because of the very different characteristics of the two kinds of light source. When designing the optics (lens and/or reflector) for a lamp, the characteristics of the light source are the driving factor around which everything else must be engineered.
Other Thoughts: If you go and change the light source, you've done the equivalent of putting on somebody else's eyeglasses: You can probably make them fit on your face OK, but you won't see properly. Installing these bulbs in your halogen housings will produce a heavily glared, unfocused flood of light that will not only blind oncoming traffic, in most circumstances the pool of light on the ground is bright enough to constrict your pupils, making it more difficult to see anything else at night.
