Description:
The MaxiScan MS300 CAN OBD-II Code Reader provides auto enthusiasts and do-it-yourselfers with an easy, portable and economic way to check Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) and their definitions for OBD-II compliant vehicles. OBD-II is the second generation of onboard diagnostics and has been a mandatory requirement for all vehicles sold in the US since 1996, both domestic and imports. The MS300 supports all current OBD-II protocols--communications between your car's components and systems--including the newly released Controller Area Network (CAN) protocol. The included CD containing 7,000 DTC definitions allows you to troubleshoot a wide variety of generic, manufacturer-specific and pending trouble codes, and drawing power from your car's own electrical system the unit does not require batteries or an AC adapter. Simply plug it in via its standard 16-pin OBD-II connector at the first sign of trouble and start diagnosing, regardless of your post-1996 car's make or model.

Pros: Great tool for the price point. I have two older vehicles that always
have the check engine light on. This scanner reads the
code and clears it. Does the same thing a $100.00 reader can for 1/5 the cost.

Cons: Com-port cord could be a litter long, but that's not worth taking an egg away

5 out of 5 eggsWorks great on several cars.

Pros: Worked great with 99 Durango, 98 Mustang, 98 Taurus, and 97 Taurus. Read codes and erased perfectly. Was able to find issues needing looked at. The low price and good reviews are what lead me to buy this and I'm happy I did. Used it when I bought a used car.

Cons: It could have come with a free jar of Peanut Butter! No Cons as of yet.

Other Thoughts: The VIN reader only works with some vehicles (that have it programmed in the car's computer), but not a big deal for me. I have already referred this to a couple friends.

3 out of 5 eggsDidn't work on select Honda 2007 & up.

Pros: Good material build; Simple to use; able to clear "Check Engine Light" for Honda Accord 2002 with no problem at all.

Cons: It's work! But not for Honda 07 & up. I tried on my CRV 2007; Accord 2009 ; my sister CRV 2008 & even my wife Civic 2008 = they all didn't work. Everytime I plug it in, after power on, wait for it to self-scan for compatable software...... it showed that connection error! But when I tried on my friend TOYOTA RAV4 2011, IT WORK! & it work on my dad car ( Accord 2002) too but not on mine :( .

Other Thoughts: Think twices before buy it. Like me, I bought it to use on my car (CRV '07) but it incompatable; it work on my dad car (Accord '02) (my lucky ? maybe!)
