Cons: Absolutely none. Other Thoughts: You must be sure that the signal is 2 channel - PCM, this unit will not convert surround sound which I knew. I'm using this converter send my 24/48 audio, most of which are vinyl LP's converted to digtal wav or flac format into my 2 channel stereo receiver. 1 out of 1 people found this review helpful. And I only say awful because newegg has an obscenity filter. you know that kind of device that only works if the cord is in EXACTLY one position? this is that device. better to just make change of the $20 and swim around in the 2000 pennies. Basically, it does exactly what it's supposed to do. It takes in optical audio via toslink cable, and outputs digital audio via RCA left and right. I've got my PS3 currently hooked up to a computer monitor with no speakers, but with this plugged in I can hook up speakers or my headphones and it's perfect. Cons: There are only two cons I can think of: it needs to be plugged in to an outlet for power, and there is not a headphone jack built right in. Being plugged in isn't a big deal at all, and youre not going to find a DAC that doesn't need to be externally powered. It's just one more cord to deal with and I needed something to write here. Some of the more expensive devices like this do have that jack built in, but you can get a $2 cord that takes a 3.5mm headphone jack and splits it into left and right RCA, and it will work perfectly. Other Thoughts: Overall, this device is fantastic if you need to convert optical audio to digital audio. You may need a converter cord or two to change the RCA to whatever you need, but an extra few dollars for a cord is well worth it considering the price of this. Did you find this review helpful?
