Whats the difference between a USB 3.0 than a USB 2.0?
USB 3.0 has a maximum transfer rate of 5 Gbit/s.USB 2.0 has a maximum transfer rate of 480 Mbit/s (0.48 Gbit/s). So USB 3.0 is 10x faster
USB 3.0 also provides more power to devices that require higher amounts of power to operate. It can provide 50% more power than USB 2.0 does through the cable itself.

Technical Details:
• Expand by connecting up to 7 USB 3.0, 2.0, or 1.1 devices to any USB 2.0 or 3.0 capable computer
• Compatible with all Windows and Linux systems. Mac systems require latest Apple updates.
• Supports USB 3.0 transfer rates up to 5Gbps. Backwards compatible with all USB 2.0/1.1 devices and hosts
• Powerful 2A laptop-style power adapter with cable. Hub is not a standalone charger.
• 7 per-port LEDs. Sleek black finish. All 7 ports on one side to minimize cable clutter.

Specification:
• Product Description:
Connect up to 7 USB 3.0, 2.0, or 1.1 devices to any USB 2.0 or 3.0 capable computer. Featuring the VIA VL812 Rev B1 USB 3.0 hub chipset for maximum compatibility and performance. Attractive, solid, compact design with per-port LEDs for diagnosing connectivity.

• Compatibility:
- Compatible with all USB 3.0 hosts, including Windows 8 and earlier, and Linux kernels 3.0 and later.
- Full forward and backward compatibility between USB 3.0 and 2.0/1.1 hosts and devices.
- Requires no driver install (although individual devices will, as usual).
- 2.4Ghz wireless devices, such as wireless keyboard and mouse adapters, may not work in close proximity to USB 3.0 devices or hubs. Connecting to a USB 2.0 port is recommended.

• Performance:
USB 3.0 data transfer rates up to 5Gbps allowing data to move quickly between devices. Ideal for high-throughput devices such as USB hard drives, flash drives, and USB video adapters.
Power and Charging
Comes with premium 5V 2A power supply for supporting several devices requiring USB 3.0's more demanding 900mA per port power.
Functions as a USB hub only, not a standalone device charger: No special functionality for charging iPad, iPhone, or other tablet and smartphone devices with or without a PC.

Package Includes:

4 out of 5 eggsGood Product

Pros: The product met all of my requirements. Customer service is excellent. My only issue, in this case is that the power adapter is specifically for Europe (Italy), i.e. 2 circular horizontal prongs. Customer service responded quickly, but they didn't have a power adapter for the US, so they issued a partial refund. I am satisfied since I can obtain a US Adapter for the plug. Otherwise, this is an excellent product, and I would recommend this if you need a USB bus. Mine is attached to the side of the case with velcro strips.

Cons: Wrong power adapter.

1 out of 5 eggsCables too short to be useful

Pros: It works if I crawl under my desk...

Cons: Both the USB cable and the power cord are very short (3 feet'ish). This makes it okay for a laptop, but for my desktop PC it is terrible. The short power-cord barely lets me put the unit on my desk, and I have about 2 inches of room to move it around. Then the short USB cable creates the same problem. Now triangulate the two, and you realize that this product is impossible to use on a desk if the PC and power cord are on the floor. The few cents for a 4 foot cable would have made this a useful product. As it is, I would not buy this again (and I can't return it without significant cost, since it's from abroad...)

4 out of 5 eggsGood for the price

Pros: - Fast & Reliable connection
- Cheap
- USB 3.0
- 7 Ports

Cons: - Feels cheaply made, but still functional
- No way to mount it
- USB Cable is touchy in some PC's

Other Thoughts: I would recommend this, although if you intend to use it often, think about spending a little more to get something better. With that being said, it does work as advertised.

1 out of 5 eggsWrong specs

Pros: Looks like a USB port hub with switches.

Cons: Wrong adapter (will not fit), orig packaging states for bus power only, and for USB2.0 use.

Other Thoughts: Get something that matches what they advertise.

5 out of 5 eggs7 Port USB Hub

Pros: My wife needed several expansion ports for her laptop. The initial purchase we made failed after just a few months. This one offered more ports, individual switches for each port and appears to be of better quality.

Cons: None so far.

5 out of 5 eggs3.0 USB hub - 2.0 compatible

Pros: After many purchases of USB hubs through the years this is by far the most reliable hub yet purchased. I use this hub on my Surface Pro 3 which is notorious for being fussy with anything connected via USB. The Surface Pro 3 has been able to connect to USB 2.0 devises without a problem.

Cons: Get this unit back in stock!

Other Thoughts: I want three more for my clients.

5 out of 5 eggsSo far so good

Pros: So far the hub is working well and I like to ability to cut power whenever I need to or just flip it on to charge devices. 7 ports and external power its does what I need it to do, Speeds for transfers and just about on par for 3.0 speed I just notice it dips off a bit when a 2.0 or lower is plugged in, but nothing to worry about there just use of different protocols on the same pipe it's to be expected.

Cons: not a con so much but would like to see a more slim line power plug the big box transformer could have been slimmed down to take up less space on my power strip. Then some way to mount it on a wall or rail would be nice too....right now just have it zip tied to my monitor stand lol.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks

Pros: Each port can be turned on and off. Each port has a pretty blue LED to show it is on. Does not need drivers.

Cons: Not stable. Would be nice to have some stability or an easy way to mount this once it has some or all the ports full it always falls over.
