5 out of 5 eggsAwesome Little All-In-One Device

Pros: This is a great little Wireless N router for on-the-go. It's so small that it can be easily carried around in the included mesh case and it can also fit in your pocket. This device has the ability to act as a wireless router, bridge or access point, and has apps to access it via DLNA, or the iOS/Android operating systems. I like that it has a plug adapter that simply flips out from the unit. It also can act as a 6000 mAh capacity portable power bank to charge cell phones and other devices

Cons: It would be nice to include a 10 Ft Ethernet cable in the box. Also, some of the apps for mobile devices could be streamlined and have better GUIs, but that's being picky.

Other Thoughts: Well worth the price I paid. It replaces several devices in one small package.

5 out of 5 eggsHooToo made the best travel router even better!!!

Pros: I had HT-TM01 which works flawlessly, and I thought is is the best. Now with HT-TM04, HooToo added the AC wallplug makes it even more convenient, plus second USB charging port provides 2.0A makes it even sweeter. Unit works w/o any issues just like the older brother (which I still have). Oh, now it comes with the fabric carrying case which keeps its casing nice and shinning, I wish the HT-TM01 came with one too.

Cons: None, really. Or maybe it should include the Ethernet cable, something designed for travel as well. Is that too much to ask for?

5 out of 5 eggsJust the ticket

Pros: This single device replaces a number of other devices for me: a travel battery with enough guts to charge a tablet at 2A while simultaneously charging a phone at 1A, a wired charger with the same dual charging capability, a wireless access point, and - the icing on the cake - a wireless bridge. It's that icing that drew me to the device - too many times I've been at a hotel where the purchased internet limits the number of connected devices. But it's great to be able to also leave behind my distinct battery pack and wired chargers. All I need now is this and a pair of USB cables.

Cons: None yet evident.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome battery / gadget

Pros: Very powerful battery. Convenient when not wanting to constantly ask for wifi passwords.

Cons: wifi goes down if on for too long hopefully driver update fixes this. The charging cable cannot be moved otherwise it seems to not charge until realigned.

3 out of 5 eggsTripMate

Pros: great battery
Can be charging my phone during bridge mode

Cons: ipad app lags, does not play media
no download for windows

Other Thoughts: This is a review for the Hootoo Mate Elite, that I was given to review.
First thought, since I love portable electronics, this was going to be on of the most amazing devices created.

The first thing I did was connect it to view some files on a usb drive. It took a vew tries since the device either was not working, or I was entering the password 11111111 wrong. ( In my opinion, is really annoying)

While I use the app for the Ipad 4th gen, I clicked play for the first song on my usb drive, but it would not play, but would go down the list of all my songs, but not play. The Hootoo device is 6 inches away on my lap, and It would lag going down the list of files I had. Syncing in took around 10 seconds, even with my 15 mbps speed down and 5 mbps up.
The media feature was a fail in my opinion for the ipad, not playing any picture, mp4, and mp3s, as well as lagging and crashing.
Compared to the Toshiba Canvio Wireless Adapter, the Hootoo Tripmate falls behind in comparison
I was mainly needing this device to be able to view media on my ipad, since it can not expand data, but it falls short.
The Hootoo program for the PC was not found in the hootoo.com/download

Moving forward to the android app for the Samsung s3, I decided to plug in my phone on the other open port to see if the device could charge while outputting media from my s3, and it worked great! I played a variety of media, the same compared to the ipad, and they played this time on the andoid, the files took a slight bit longer to load compared to the Toshiba Canvio adapter. One thing they could fix for the TripMate is to add a location where I can pause, without going back to the song.

Testing the bridge
The speedtest went from my normal ping of 15 to 20, and the bridge made the internet go to 12, from 15.(location- router was between a wall, and the hootoo was next to my computer.
By moving the device, between 3 walls, and ~70 feet away, it suffered greatly, at 48-250 ping, ,50mbps-2mbps down and .8mpbs up.
random test- my room temperature is around 75 to 77, and using a termo gun, the highest temp is 94*F 34.5*C
After over an hour of testing, the indicator was still 4/4.
I was mainly needing this device to be able to view
The Hootoo TripMate Elite has some minor problems to repair, but is a feature rich device that is the jack of all trades compared to the Toshiba Canvio adapter. One thing I would love to see, is being to connect to both the internet as well as the TripMate.

2 out of 5 eggsNot for travel

Pros: Works, easy to set up, could replace a bunch of devices in your travel kit.

Cons: The security on this thing is horrifying. Think of any security feature on any cheap wifi router you've used: this thing doesn't have it. Firewall? No. UPnP config? No. Port forwarding? No. DMZ host? Public/private sides? Disable unneeded services? No. No. No. It even runs a telnet service you can't turn off and doesn't require a login to change some settings in the Web UI.

Other Thoughts: Too insecure for use on an untrusted network. Great potential but not quite cooked yet.

4 out of 5 eggsAlmost perfect network swiss-army-knife

Pros: - Battery
- 2 charging ports
- Share files by USB port on router easily.
- Has DLNA / SAMBA / Android/iPhone APP
- Case
- Easy to use interface (GUI) for configuring
- Plug built-in

Cons: Advertised as having 'bridging' but this is only wireless to wireless, you can not connect a device to the lan port and provide it network access through this device. At least with the current firmware on it at the time of writing.

This item boasts as being 'elite' but doesn't even have the same features available to other $20 nano router products (without the battery of course which is about $15-$20 value give or take).

Other Thoughts: Awesome device! Looks good, love the fact it can provide access to USB storage, DLNA and SAMBA access possibilities and the case is a classy touch. I like the fact it will run directly from battery without the need to be plugged in for a good period of time (assuming your not charging your phone or tablet with it at the same time). Multiple USB ports in case you want to charge and use use storage at the same time.

While there is a lot to love about this device, there are also some shortcomings that it needs to overcome to truly deserve to be called 'Elite'. Mainly that it fails to offer one feature which I feel would fulfill this as the perfect wireless swiss-army-knife solution, and that is wired to wireless network bridging. While some of the other brands 'nano' products do not come with the awesome battery this things comes with, they do have this feature available to them stock. For this I deduct 1 star from its rating.

5 out of 5 eggsHooToo® TripMate Elite travel router

Pros: The HooToo® TripMate Elite is a neat compact package slightly larger than 3"x3"x1". Containing a USB 2 standard to USB mini (like on Samsung) ribbon cable for charging the Travelmate from a USB Charger, a gray felt protective case, user manual, and an internal 6000mAh battery pack (2 18650 lithium batteries?) to operate mobile and extend your mobile device's operating time.

The function of the Tripmate is very simple through the Tripmate App (Android 2.2 and higher) found on Googleplay. You are not tied to a proprietary software. You can address the Tripmate Elite from a browser by addressing 10.10.10.256 to the administrator's screen.

With the HooToo® TripMate Elite travel router you can establish your own private LAN. The Tripmate Elite can access the internet via either a WiFi or wired ethernet (10/100 RJ45) connection for your personal LAN.

Cons: Cons: It did not come with an ethernet cable. I will have to get a short one to include in the mobile kit against the possible need to establish a Router mode or, AP mode connection. It is better to have and not need, than to need and not have.

Other Thoughts: Why would you need this device? On the bottom line it will operate an external USB Storage device (Thumb drive, External HDD, SDHC card in a USB adaptor, etc.) pre loaded with your favored media and ready to receive your Data backup. And supply USB charge to your mobile device extending its function time.

Or, given the instance that you arrive at your booked hotel to discover that yes they have free internet. Wired Ethernet is free but WiFi will cost an extra $20.00 a night and it is slow 802.11b. Simply plug in an Ethernet cable (not included in the Tripmate Elite package) and you have your own personal 902.11n Wi-Fi.

Or, the cable companies internet router did not have Wi-Fi built in. Plug it into an Ethernet port for router mode to establish an 802.11n wireless link.

Or, you just need to piggy back from local Wi-Fi at a party and want to make the content of your portable Storage available with internet access on the same Wireless connection by setting up bridge mode.

Or, you simply want to share files from your portable USB storage device. Hit the on switch and let your share partner into your cloud through the half bridge 802.11n Wi-Fi.

Or, Tether your phone for a hotspot which can be a sanity saver on a road trip.

The Tripmate elite seems to have greater range than my cell phone to home Wi-Fi router. So, I can setup Bridge Mode and stream audio files from my Ethernet wired desktop into the DSL router, to Wi-Fi, To Tripmate elite and listen in on a headset while I walk the dog around the block. My phones Wi-Fi connection barely reaches out the front door, but the Tripmate maintained Bridge mode WiFi while out walking the dog.

5 out of 5 eggsIt works like a charm.

Pros: I received the device for an unbiased review.

Shipping was fast and it was packed fine.

The charge time is considerable, but well worth it. I charged 2 (second generation) Nexus 7s simultaneously. One was at less than 20% and the other was about 60%. The one with the higher charge got to 100% and the other with the lower charge got to about 55% before the battery got tired on the TripMate Elite. The unit flashes a light on the far right that tells when the battery needs to be recharged and I found that very helpful.

The on\off switch gives the user a quick check on the status of the battery. A quick touch of it will flash the lights, showing how full it is. Holding the button down for a few seconds will turn it off\on.

Accessing and setting up the router functions was KISS (keep it simple stupid< VERY important for a dumb old man). The NAS feature works BETTER than my Linksys EA1750. I used the NAS feature with a 1TB external desktop drive and a bus powered USB 3.0 external HDD, both worked perfectly.

The Android app works just as it should, it is simple, clean and quick responding.

The body is hard, glossy plastic that appears to be very durable. The function lights are well placed and easy to see.

The included pouch\cover is a great idea and will be very much appreciated over time.

Cons: The manual included was printed too small for my tired, old eyes. But, I could see what I needed to.

The ONLY thing I would change is for the included USB cord to be black, rather than white.

Other Thoughts: Buy it and enjoy it.

5 out of 5 eggsHooToo TripMate Elite

Pros: The HooToo TripMate Elite is a fast portable NAS, Router, and Bridge. When I first received the HooToo TripMate Elite I was skeptical on how a router and 6000mAh phone charger could fit into a device that fits in the palm of my hand, but after using it I was astounded. This device is portable, well built, fast, and works well. I have the Apple Airport Extreme that will output 20MBPS wireless, when I hooked up the HooToo TripMate to the modem instead of the AirPort Extreme, I was astounded at how good it preformed. The TripMate Elite is the perfect device for anyone and everyone.

Cons: The HooToo TripMate had an issue connecting as a bridge to my router, but I fixed it after changing my routers security type.

Other Thoughts: First off, this is the best deal for the money 60$ for a 6000mAh battery pack, wireless router, and a bridge. This device is great for people who love to travel or need the versatility of a router when at a hotel or a battery pack in the car. You can turn this device into a NAS (Network Attached Storage) just by plugging a flash drive into the 1A usb and then turning it on. Say you are on the plane and you saved movies to this flash drive you just plug it in and people you allow to connect to the TripMate Elite will be aloud to connect and watch your movies because the TripMate creates its own Wi-Fi signal. When you travel and are at a hotel sometimes they do not provide you with a Wi-Fi signal so you must pay or use ethernet, but with devices like iPad, iPod, and other wireless devices there is no ethernet port so you are required to have wifi. You just plug the ethernet into the TripMate and in a few seconds it provides you with a wireless signal. The TripMate Elite is portable, has two ways to charge it, and very useful. I will be going on a trip this month and will update this review when I get back on how it worked. The TripMate Elite is a pretty good router, I plugged it in in place of m AirPort Extreme 200$ router, and that will give me 20MBPS speed, The TripMate was providing me with 18.7MBPS through a device less than 1/5th the size. The HooToo Tripmate Elite is also useful for places that have Wi-Fi but may not be secure. If you head into a Starbucks or other store of such you will be provided with free, unsafe wifi, but with the HooToo TripMate Elite you will be able to bridge that connection to have your own free bridged Wi-Fi that is secure. The TripMate comes with a travel case and a flat micro USB cable to charge it, or plug it directly into the wall with it's pop out prongs to charge. (Note that the pop out prongs will charge the device a lot faster) HooToo has created an amazing product that every traveler or everyday coffee shop/library visitor should have in their bag. Even though the product is glossy the carrying case will keep it fingerprint free if you leave it in there. The HooToo TripMate is the perfect companion for anyone and everyone. Thank you for reading my review.
