4 out of 5 eggsThis should be in every car's glove box

Pros: Works for all vehicles 1996- (Tested on 01 Acura TL, 05 Volvo S40 and 09 Ford Flex)

Doesn't work on pre-obd2 cars (that's what a paperclip is for!).

Cons: I kinda wished it would at least read the airbag code for a volvo s40, but at this price i wasn't expecting it.

Runs off the car battery (not really a con, just something to know)

Other Thoughts: This should be in every glove box. (Unless your car is really old)
If buying a used car with a check engine light on, take this with you and see if the problem will be expensive to fix.

5 out of 5 eggsGOOD TOOLS

Pros: I bought this to use on honda toyoyta chevy ford.
Sucessfully read troubke codes on
-Toyota corolla 2002
-Ford Mustang 2004
-Chevy Suburban 1999
-Ford Mustang 2001
From what use i put on this device. It works good on all makes and models i have listed. But it

Cons: Doesn't tell you if you drove the car enough after you fix the problem and clear the codes. Its a indication system on a car's computer that says if you just deleted the codes or if you deleted the codes and drove enough to make sure the light doesn't come on any more meaning you have fixed the trouble codes and are ready for smogcheck/emissions.

Someone with knowledge of car ODB reader's knows what i'm, talking about. Its a key feature. that a expensive ODB reader carries most of the time.

Other Thoughts: I own two of these. They both are the real deal.

5 out of 5 eggsSimple and effective tool that can save you money

Pros: I have really enjoyed having thie OBD-II scanner, it has saved me a lot of hassle, time, and money.

It is simple yet effective and is worth while in any home garage.

Remember this won't tell you "exactly" what is wrong every time, but it will give you Diagnostic Trouble Codes and touch many of your vehicle's sensors to see if they are reporting errors.

Just like the Product Overview states, the best thing about this is:
"No surprises no extra costs can be pushed on you from the mechanic."

Don't get ripped off by money hungry mechanics or even better don't get bad info by stupid ones either.

A lot of shops will charge you to just run codes and maybe to a additional check or two. Sometimes they will just do this, give you some off the wall response, to either get you to pay for things you don't need or get ou out of their hair but still paying $40-90 for the diagnostic check!

It has especially come in useful with my 2001 Jeep Cherokee when out in the mountains.

Cons: As others have said, the instructions are minimal, but with a product like this, you don't really need it.

Other Thoughts: If you have multiple vehicles or you have children that are driving, this becomes even more valuable.

5 out of 5 eggsHandy

Pros: Handy to have. Car hasn't thrown a code in some time but it is good tool to have. Be a good neighbor ... share. :)

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: No CD to lookup codes. But codes are out there on the Internet.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks as advertised

Pros: It has two buttons to push. It told me what the CEL said, and reset it. Exactly what I wanted. The dealer charges $40 for this so I am money ahead already.

Cons: I did have to read the directions, but I think I would have figured it out in a few minutes.

Other Thoughts: I have a 2002 Subaru and it read my previous codes, too.

5 out of 5 eggsAGT Compact OBD-II CAN Diagnostic Code Reader Scanner Tool

Pros: After riding around for 6 months with check engine light on and receiving a $200 estimated repair bill I decided to find
out if I really needed repair. The almost give away price of the
AGT Compact OBD-II with its ability to erase the check engine
light proved no repair was necessary. After a month of driving, the light remains off.

Cons: None, if you accept this is a basic model without the bells and whistles the much more expensive models have.
