5 out of 5 eggsWorked well - 2nd unit ordered

Pros: Worked well - please see previous review for 1st purchase. Both performed exactly the same. Price makes it almost a throw away device and I was please to be able to leave with daughters in the USA.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: When I tried to review in March, the scanner was reported as no longer available and a new model had been introduced at a higher price. Very pleased to see this very economical device available again.

5 out of 5 eggsWorked well

Pros: used to reset computer on 2004 RSX after diagnosing double O2 sensor failure and replacement - worked perfectly. Read 2004 Civic with 100K mi; expecting a oxygen sensor failure but no light as yet. The code reader showed a problem with the oxygen sensor, I reset and all was OK again for a few more months - hopefully. Also tested on 2005 Camry and 2009 Passport which were read without a problem. Does what it is supposed to do.

Cons: This is a basic model which does not read brake, A/C system, and other non-engine related codes on the RSX, but still a great tool for what it is.

Other Thoughts: Hoped it could be used on my Malaysian 2006 Proton Waja and 2010 Perodua Myvi (reskinned Toyota Echo) - but unfortunately the plug doesn't match. Not sure what differences may exist in other countries.
Bought two, one for family cars in the USA and 2nd hoping it would work in Malaysia. Maybe yet with a little connector work.

4 out of 5 eggsAuto Scanner

Pros: Inexpensive OBD11 scanner. I got two as gifts for the people that keep borrowing mine somewhat nicer and much more expensive one.

Cons: Does not translate the codes into text. You need to look them up in the accompanying book. Not much of a problem if you don't use it too frequently.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks awesome!

Pros: Does what it is supposed to do. Gives me codes to why that dang check engine light is always on. Works so well on my car, I decided to hook it up to my girlfriend. Turns out, for 5 days a month, she leaks transmission fluid and comes close to breaking down. No reset button for that though.

Cons: Like previously stated, there's nothing you can do about the PMS code. You just have to ride it out.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Device for the Price!!

Pros: I used this on my Nissan Frontier and my Acura TL - both were showing a dash lights. The trouble-codes were accurate in both cases and it helped me figure out what needed to be fixed. I can see how this will be saving me hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars in the future.

Cons: The only thing that I would call a "con" about this device is that the trouble-codes aren't specific enough. For example, if you have several O2 sensors and one of them is bad it will only tell you that you have a bad O2 sensor, but not which is the bad one. Not really much of a "con" for the price I paid.

Other Thoughts: This device has an added benefit of being able to clear trouble-codes. I'm not sure if they all do this or not, but it's definitely an added convenience.

1 out of 5 eggsIncompatible with a 2006 Chevy Monte Carlo SS

Pros: Not applicable.

Cons: Incompatible with a 2006 Chevrolet Monte Carlo & Impala SS with the 5.3L V8 engine. A check engine trouble light illuminated recently and when I connected the reader, according to their user guide, it displayed 'N/A 01/01' which, according to the user guide of the reader, states that this reader is not compatible to my vehicle. I went to my service garage and my mechanic connected his reader and was able to read the trouble code and clear it.

If you own the same or similar model vehicle, be very aware of this before purchasing it and also do some research first to see which reader is compatible to your vehicle before purchasing one.

5 out of 5 eggsSolid OBD II scanner

Pros: Works great, easy use, plug it in, it brings up the codes. Bright red makes it hard to lose.

Cons: Could tell you what the codes are, but not a huge issue.

Other Thoughts: It could say what the code means, but not enough of a big deal to take a star out of, because they do include a book that has the most common error codes, and if you lose the book or can't find the code in it, you can always google the code and find it. I never did mess with the attached software so I cant comment on that.
