Pros: cheap price
Cons: feels like a throw-away title a game company doesn't expect to sell, so they put no effort into it. Almost everything about Neverdead is mediocre. The plot and characters are suspiciously similar to Devil May Cry. The writing and dialogue are weak. The game itself is extremely repetitive. The BGM is simple short metal powerchords repeated ad nauseum. There are enemy generators that spam enemies until they're destroyed; taking them to half health is easy, but the rest suddenly requires tremendous effort as you sit there for several minutes hacking away as its health refuses to go down (until u get explosives). If you have hypertension, do not play this game on anything harder than easy because it will get so aggrivating (especially the final boss) that your vascular system will explode with the might of 1000 suns. The protagonist is immortal and shouldn't die, but the stupid little rolling stomachs that eat your head & the resulting QTE (which is buggy) ensure you do.
Other Thoughts: As much as I want to like Neverdead, I can't. Its not fun and has a tendancy to get extremely aggrivating. The near universal dislike for it is justified. I've read that the creator himself admitted the game wasn't good because (to paraphrase) they put so much effort into showing off the physics engine used to make the game, they never got around to making sure the game was any good. If you play Neverdead with this in mind, it does reveal itself to be a tech-demo with some obvious moments showing off lighting, gravity, and destructable environment effects. At least one of these visual treats (like the boss fight at the start of chapter 6) wind up causing the most anger inducing frustrating moments in the game. Its a real shame.
