Capcom's popular extreme action-platforming-shooter series has been a fan favorite for nearly 7 years and Devil May Cry 4 has earned high ratings to prove that it is worthy of the name. Set between the events of the original and second installments, the player alternately controls the demon hunter, Dante as well a young warrior named Nero. Nero is just coming to terms with the powers of his glowing Devil Bringer arm which lets him smash demons and grab enemies from afar along with other abilities. In addition to his arm, Nero fights with a sword, the Red Queen - that can be revved up to deal additional damage - and his revolver, Blue Rose, which give him the ability to attack foes at close range or at a distance.
Despite the anime origins of the series, the characters and environments are beautifully rendered with next-gen lighting and shading. The characters' light-hearted outlook on dangerous situations and constant sarcasm is continued in this installment and it fits well with the new "style" system of combat where characters are awarded Style Points based on the number of orbs obtained, enemies slain, and time taken on each mission as well as the ability to avoid damage in combat. Taunting enemies also adds to one's style. He also has a super state called "Devil Trigger" which grants increased combat capabilities. For his part, Dante returns with his four fighting styles – which can now be switched at will. Can you save the city of Fortuna from the demons and the enemies within?
Pros: -its a good DMC game overall, especially for under $20.
Cons: -more repetitive level run through then normal DMC games.
Other Thoughts: -kind of hard to get alot of gamerscore for this game.

Fans should enjoy
Pros: Overall an enjoyable playthrough. The graphics are well done and the move list is large enough. There is a good deal of replay value to unlock harder difficulties and your entire move list. The Bloody Palace (as fans of the series can guess the return) is certainly challenging.
Cons: You do replay through the same levels and for some this may prove to be tiresome.
Other Thoughts: I have enjoyed this game but give it four stars for repitition in the levels and Proud Soul grinding. Otherwise a great buy for under $20!

Pros: Awesome Graphics. The lighting and architecture are incredible! Combat is very enjoyable. It's genuinely fun beating the hell out of your enemies, LOL. The boss battles are really over-the-top- very well done.
Cons: Yes you do revisit the same areas when you go through the game with Dante, but this is typical for the DMC series, and is really not done to any greater degree than in any of the past games, at least not IMO.
Other Thoughts: There are quite a few ares of this game that take place in the daylight and while it's visually impressive, I like my Devil May Cry dark and gothic. This game is way easier than DMC 3. Don't know, you can take that as a pro or con.

Could Be Better
Pros: Hack and slash with lots of button smashing combo's you will forget.. Decent graphics. Fare story line. Fast load times. Its fun killing stuff in this game, though it wears thin after you kill the exact same thing over and over, with no change in scenery.
Cons: The biggest problem I have with this game is the constant repeating of the same level/dungeon. This game continually puts you back into the same dungeon over and over to solve puzzles you were not able to solve the first time you past by them(why I don't know). You will fight the same beasts in the same room in some situations several times so you can get back to the "Thing" you are now able to access, even though you cleaned out the entire level in previous mission. It can be at times very confusing and at the least tiresome. Plus I find it very lazy on the programmers part. The story line so far is "Ok", but the cut scenes repeat even though you went thru them before in previous missions.. Dumb.. Menu/Option/Level Up screens are confusing or overly complex.. I can't decide.
Other Thoughts: I've seen this game get B+ reviews on several game review sights, but I give it a "C". Granted I lean more towards strategy and RPG, but this game is just not worth the money. Rent it..
