1 out of 5 eggsNot for EF-S

Pros: Cheap

Cons: Not a good lens. The optics are not very good. Mine is only anywhere near sharp at max tele if and only if I use F/11. Even a half stop up or down from there and it gets fuzzy. The lack of image stabilization makes it hard to use at f/11 except on a very bright day.

Other Thoughts: If you have an EF-S camera, you don't want this lens, you want to 55-250 IS lens which is a *much* better piece of glass. It's actually sharp at 250mm and the image stabilization makes hand held shots at max tele practical.

4 out of 5 eggsGood lens

Pros: Fast zoom bezel, fast focus, great clarity

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I bought the lens as a second lens for my DSLR. It was offered as a bonus purchase by NewEgg. It has worked very well on my camera for sporting events and nature photography. Overall, a great buy.

5 out of 5 eggsLife without Tripod = :(

Pros: I'm glad I read the low-egg reviews before I hopped on the bargain bandwagon for this lens. Exactly as the others have mentioned, for long distance shots, your arms are going to go Riverdance on you once you hit that shutter.

You definitely need a tripod, and even top it off with a remote for your camera.

Cons: none. Works as needed.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Simple and reliable.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Many complain that this is a "slow" lens. Of course it is, and if you know about photography, you know it from the f-stop description. Anyone wanting a faster zoom lens should spend the extra money. For those of us on a budget this is perfectly fine. Think about what you are shooting ahead of time and use a tripod if you have to. I have taken many shots with even slower lenses without aid. There is no shortcut to good photography skills, you can buy better gear but you still have to know how to use it.

3 out of 5 eggsCanon EF 75-300 Telephoto zoom lens

Pros: Works great in daylight natural lighting and bright lighting
indoors.

Ok for a beginner telephoto lens.

Cons: Doesn't work good in Low light level pictures at longer distance, if you tweak the settings on your particular camera you can get the light level adjusted for a somewhat good picture.

Slow shutter speed.

4 out of 5 eggsOverall Good Lens

Pros: Excellent zoom feature. I have used it to take pictures of aircraft, helicopters, birds, animals, and other distant things. I've also used it with my tripod to capture graduations.

Cons: Very "slow" lens, but this can be countered with a tripod and prethought.

Other Thoughts: Overall a worthwhile investment. As with any zoom lens, you have to have a lot more light than with a standard lens.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Zoom Lens

Pros: This is a great lens. My film SLR set has a 75-200 zoom lens. I used that pretty often to get great shots. This 75-300 zoom lens is even better. When use slower shutter, tripod is highly recommended. Without a tripod, even with IS (image stabilization functions) will not help you.

Cons: None!

Other Thoughts: It will be nice to have a way to attach the lens cover to the lens!

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Value Zoom Lens

Pros: Great price, crisp pictures, 300mm focal length.

Cons: Rotation for zoom a little stiff

Other Thoughts: If you want a 300mm and can't afford $530 for the USM feature then this is the lens for you.
