The LED backlight delivers vivid color and contrast for a picture that is simply brilliant. And don't forget the size, because football simply looks better big (or the latest season of reality TV...we won't tell!) Equipped with HDMI for easy digital connections, this TV plays nice with all of your devices. Enjoy digital 5.1 surround sound when connected to a home theater setup.

  • newegg See everything with Full HD Experience Full HD 1080p in the highest resolution available with progressive scan to deliver crisp and clear video. Movies and sports come to life with 1920 x 1080 resolution that is unparalleled detail and fidelity. The HDMI input connector allows easy connection to a variety of AV equipment such as Blu-ray player, game console and more.
  • newegg Premium Audio Experience SRS TRuSurround XT delivers an enveloping surround sound experience, complete with clear dialog and rich bass using only the TV's two built-in speakers. With TruSurround XT, you can enjoy a much wider audio "sweet spot", allowing the multichannel content delivered to the built-in stereo speakers to feel as though it's being delivered from multiple speakers placed around the room, making any seat in the room the best seat. If you have a surround sound receiver or other compatible device, you'll also be able to get pure digital sound from your TV. Experience 5.1 channels of audio bliss in the comfort of your living room.
  • newegg Digital noise reduction DVDs, TV broadcasts, streaming video, and analog connections can all introduce slight imperfections to picture quality. Although the loss in fidelity may be minor and unnoticable, Coby’s TVs are designed with advanced processing techniques to improve the appearance of compressed video. That's why your TV experience will be picture perfect every time.
  • newegg 120Hz refresh With sports or other fast-moving video, you need a TV that can keep up with the action. The quick refresh rate of 120 Hz TVs reduce motion blur for an incredibly smooth and life-like experience.
  • newegg Black is new black Coby measures and reports Native Contrast Ratio, a truer indication of screen performance. Contrast ratio measures the difference between the darkest and brightest images that a screen can produce. A high contrast ratio will prevent images from looking washed out. Details in very dark or very bright scene will be clear and vivid without the loss in definition. Blacks look blacker. Whites look whiter. You'll get a vibrant picture that will be a true reflection of the image.

1 out of 5 eggsThe worst tv I ever owened

Pros: 1.Good deal
2. Newegg delivers product on time.

Cons: 1. Bad color
2. Remote broke on the first day of use.
You can judge the tv by how cheap the remote control looks and functions, i.e. if does work to begin with.

Other Thoughts: Stay away from this tv.

5 out of 5 eggsLove It!

Pros: Great picture, animation look wonderful. Price is excellent.

Cons: Not an expert none at this time.

Other Thoughts: Not a techy but this television fitted great in my budget. I love animated movies and they look great. Unlike some of the other reviewers I don't spend a lot to time adjusting settings. I'm an on, off remote person. Just watch a few movies when I have time. I didn't want to spend a lot of money at this time on a television and am satisfied for the price. This will work for me. Thanks Newegg! For me the average tv watcher 5!

4 out of 5 eggsGood Deal

Pros: Excellent purchase for $599. Is it for moviebuffs? Not really but that's not what your paying for. It's a nice good, clean picture when playing video games online and arrived with no issues.

Cons: Lacks most normal settings. You will be limited in what you can adjust.

Other Thoughts: Do it

1 out of 5 eggsCoby 55 LED

Pros: Great Service from Newegg. Customer service reps were very apologetic. Whole transaction entailed a month.

Cons: TV feezes and sound goes out every ten minutes. When it did operate sound was not good. Unit did not operate right out of box. Called Coby and was told to return for refund to Newegg.

4 out of 5 eggsAwesome value!

Pros: • Extremely large: 55 Inches
• Bright: 450 nit
• Standard Inputs, including HDCP-compliant HDMI. Standard power cable: C13-C14 10-15A
• Low power footprint from LED backlight: 135w peak
• Respectable contrast and gamma out of the box, easily optimized.
• Overscan can be completely disabled, independently of the aspect ratio setting (Menu, video, advanced, Overscan: Off)
• Superb price for the performance. This is probably the single biggest benefit. You can't get a set this big at this price from anyone else.
• Will take a 4:4:4 RGB signal without incident (may not disable it as 4:4:4, haven't checked yet)
• Works great with HTPCs, at least ones with AMD GPUs. No HDCP handshake issues, resolution detection issues, or other common Display-Chain issues.
• Relatively low latency for having 120Hz smoothing. I estimate about 30-40ms.
• Default sharpness value is zero, no sharpening occurs. Can be negative (if you wanted to blur the display I suppose)
• Thin! Includes VESA m

Cons: • 120 Hz smoothing cannot be disabled (maybe a hidden menu, but the standard UI doesn't have an option for it).
• Backlight cannot be controlled. (NOTE:"Brightness" adjusts the white point, not the backlight). This means it will always run at FULL; much brighter than needed in an intimate setting.
• No user-upgradable firmware. USB-port is for technicians only.
• OSD/GUI is minimal, missing many higher-end calibration options. NO CONFIG FOR: Gamma, Backlight, RGB-Gains, CMY-Tints
• 120 Hz panel cannot be supplied a 120 Hz signal because the input board doesn't support higher than 60 Hz (Extremely common, not a complaint but an industry criticism)
• DOES NOT SUPPORT 24 Hz INPUT. Only option for 24 Hz content is to do a Reverse-3:2 pulldown, then double to 120 Hz. Subtle aberration from each conversion.
• No 3D? (PRO to me)
• Very thick bezel, more than an inch.
• Flashlighting in corners, not perfectly even (common problem for edge-lit models) but no worse than the competition

Other Thoughts: I normally prefer big-name manufacturers for displays, but I thought I would take a gamble and give Coby a try. I'm glad I did! The LEDTV5536 is a great value. It works great with my stereo and my HTPC. No dead pixels, no physical damage. The shipping was extremely fast (Thanks NewEgg!) and the carrier actually called my phone to schedule delivery, then a second time when they arrived. I was extremely impressed.

I've watched several of my favorite films on the LEDTV5536 now. If you are a film purist, this isn't the unit for you. The Reverse-3:2 followed by smoothing to 120Hz causes subtle artifacts on long straight lines (e.g. windows borders on cityscapes, telephone lines, automobile intake grilles.) or during some shots of fast motion.

On a positive note, the 120 Hz smoothing produces some of the most lifelike motion I've ever seen from 24 Hz film content. I watched Kubrick's "Eyes Wide Shut", and the many closeups during conversation looked almost real. Pro+Con I guess.
