5 out of 5 eggsPortable, Fast, and Reliable

Pros: Portable
Fast
Reliable (Used for over a year now with no problems)
Thunderbolt and USB3

Cons: Gets a little warm so don't put it under anything where it can't breathe. I accidentally put my jacket on it one day and it was really hot after that.

Other Thoughts: I waited for a year to pass before posting a review because I saw so many negative reviews on this drive on here. I really like this drive and use it to travel with my virtual machines for work. I love the speed and ease of use with the thunderbolt on my Macbook Pro and then when I need to use it on my windows machine the USB3 works great too. The connections don't feel cheap to me at all and I don't mind the bright orange bumper on it. It has outlasted 2 of my WD external drives already.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Portable Drive

Pros: I use Windows but my partner uses a Mac, so when we went looking for an external USB drive that would work with both machines, we were pleased to find this unit, which supports both USB 3.0 and Thunderbolt. Data transfers are fast and there's no need to find an extra outlet for yet another power supply. I'm very pleased with this drive.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I'll buy more.

2 out of 5 eggsDead in two months

Pros: It's thunderbolt

Cons: Died in two months now I have to play hot potato with Lacie, and the replacement is going to cost me shipping. It would power on, click several times but not mount.

2 out of 5 eggsNot so rugged

Pros: average hdd, did it's job..for a while

Cons: I used this external out in the field and it was pretty disappointing. While it has the goofy bright orange bumper to protect it, the usb/firewire/thunderbolt sockets are cheap as hell. It snapped off and now rattles around in the case. The WD passport lasted me twice as long as this piece of junk

5 out of 5 eggsSo far, so good.

Pros: I have one of these. Worked right out of the box. Super fast, small, light, easy to use. I especially like that thunderbolt powers the drive and there is no longer a need for separate power cable - unlike past external drives. Definitely recommend.

Cons: None yet.

Other Thoughts: Works great so far. Though I feel that I have to be honest and mention that I have a buddy at apple that got me a hefty discount on my drive.

1 out of 5 eggsRugged it is not

Pros: It looks nice

Cons: After backing up data, and moving to a new computer, the drive failed within 3days. It no longer mounts or is identified by any computer through firewire or USB3.0. Total failure of a brand new drive....

Other Thoughts: Sucks
