Pros: -Slim bezel

Cons: whenever I play this certain game on my pc, there's a weird blinking line that shows up in the same place. however when I play more demanding games there are no problems

5 out of 5 eggsWow..Just wow

This review is from: Acer H6 Series H236HLbid Black 23" 5ms (GTG) HDMI Widescreen LED Backlight LED Backlit LCD Monitor, IPS Panel 250 cd/m2 ACM 100,000,000:1 (1000:1)

Pros: OK right off the bat i will tell you the #1 most important thing to me is image responsiveness and how fluidly a 3D image is rendered. I obsessively test for image ghosting and i have been through multiple different TN monitors over the past 6 months trying to find one that did not become fuzzy during motion. But they all let me down.

I almost just threw in the towel and just continued using my old CRT monitor because i had just accepted the fact that flat screen monitors just could not achieve the depth and responsiveness that i desired. And i had it ingrained in my mind that IPS monitors were just made for people who use adobe. So i never even considered trying one.

But the irony is that from best to worse my monitors with the least image ghosting is 1.Acer H6 IPS (zero image ghosting) 2. Asus vh226h 2ms 60hz (very little barely any image ghosting) and 3. ASUS VG248QE Black 24" 144Hz 1ms (GTG) HDMI was ironically the most washed out and prone to ghosting/ motion fuzziness.

I literally feel like i have never gamed until NOW. I now have a refueled motivation to re-explore ALL my old games just to see how they look with a REAL MONITOR for the first time in my life.

The new IPS display is rendered so responsively and fluid with such great depth that there is absolutely ZERO image ghosting.. The image is rendered so flawlessly that it does not even seem like this monitors technology would physically allow it to even experience a "ghosting" even if i tried as hard as i can. The image renders so buttery smooth that when i pan the camera around objects in games they render in an almost BULB like effect like i can just reach into the monitor and grab them.

its just so funny how i purchased a monitor with 5ms response time (i would be too scared to buy a monitor with that high response time a year ago) but the funny thing is that this is by far the most responsive monitor ive ever used.

(WARNING IF YOU PLAN ON TURNING VSYNC OFF YOU ARE GOING TO HAVE A BAD TIME AS THE IMAGE SCREEN TEARS IN LIKE 4 DIFFERENT SPOTS AS WITH ALL IPS DISPLAYS)

Ok now when i used this IPS display for the first time it was just instant. Within 1 millisecond i realized that this is what i want. And its not just the colors that won me over its the entire archituecture/technology of how the image is displayed looked COMPLETELY different than TN panels. Its hard to describe but the image is very wholesome and homogenous/even.. It truly looks like a CRT monitor. Its not a digital slurry of bleached pixels that are TN panels.

This is the monitor i have been spending my whole life searching for and i finally have found it.

And why have i been so stupid to purchase MATTE finishes all this time? If you put a matte screen protector on an iphone the image becomes blurry. Maybe thats why all my other monitors never looked clear like this one.. because those were all matte. Glass is like.. The only way to go. This monitor IS glossy. And thats good.

Cons: Worst OSD setup i have ever seen in my life. I almost came to tears trying to change the brightness/contrast. I had to take a piece of paper and write down the order in which i pressed all 6 of the buttons just so i could remember how to get back to the image adjustment page. Asus monitors have much easier OSDs to control.

metal neck of the stand comes in the box and it is basically a small metal black brick (im surprised it was so heavy and metal and not plastic) but yeah it is very heavy and big and it takes a LOT of force to get it to SNAP into the back of the monitor securely. Basically you have to push with all your might just to get it to snap in..

And quite simply i did not want to push on a monitor with all my might so i simply pushed it in as far as i felt comfortable with. It is in very strong even without it making the click sound and i think i would need muscles just to take it back out again.

But this monitor is very stable on my desk and people who say this monitor has a cheap stand need to get their opinion glands checked because they are factually incorrect.

Other Thoughts: 23 inches is the sweetspot as 24 inches makes pixels look a bit too blocky.

My conclusion of this whole ordeal is take advertised response times on TN panels with a grain of salt (or perhaps its just the poor lighting/architecture of TN panels that make the ghosting more apparent?) The depth and color accuracy of this monitor make it almost seem like it would be impossible for ghosting to occur.

5 out of 5 eggsThis monitor is crispy!

This review is from: Acer H6 Series H236HLbid Black 23" 5ms (GTG) HDMI Widescreen LED Backlight LED Backlit LCD Monitor, IPS Panel 250 cd/m2 ACM 100,000,000:1 (1000:1)

Pros: I bought one of these monitors about 1.5 years ago. When I saw it go on sale for $129, it was just too good to pass up, so I ended up buying another to go dual-mode. I haven't noticed any defects with the product. It's pretty much what it claims to be: an affordable IPS with decent resolution and response time.

5 eggs. Can't wait for my second monitor to arrive.

Cons: No technical or aesthetic cons.
Well, there was a piece of the plastic wrap that got stuck when I inserted the monitor into the base plate, but after some successful tweezering I removed it.

Other Thoughts: Buy this monitor. Now.

Pros: Great colors

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Monitors

This review is from: Acer H6 Series H236HLbid Black 23" 5ms (GTG) HDMI Widescreen LED Backlight LED Backlit LCD Monitor, IPS Panel 250 cd/m2 ACM 100,000,000:1 (1000:1)

Pros: IPS!!!!!
5ms gtg
23 in

Cant really stress how good these monitors are. I bought 2 and ended up purchasing a 3rd to setup surround. The color depth of ips is magnificent and even though it may not have the 2ms response time of a gaming monitor the vibrant colors really make up for it.

Cons: No cons yet and I have owned 2 of my 3 monitors for a year.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat IPS monitor

This review is from: Acer H6 Series H236HLbid Black 23" 5ms (GTG) HDMI Widescreen LED Backlight LED Backlit LCD Monitor, IPS Panel 250 cd/m2 ACM 100,000,000:1 (1000:1)

Pros: + IPS LCD gives great color and angles
+ Response time is pretty fast and is good enough for me
+ Plenty bright enough for me
+ The bezels are fantastic. I love the edge-to-edge glass.
+ I don't have any dead pixels out of 4.1 million.
+ Size to resolution gives a great density

Cons: - I don't think it's worth $200 or even $160

Other Thoughts: I bought a second one about eight months later. The colors aren't perfectly the same, but after some tuning, they look exactly alike.
There are few minor differences, like the finish on the stand, between the two monitors.
It's a great choice when you can get it for under $150. Mine cost me around $135 each and I think they're the best value for the money.
Buy three when they're cheap for a great-looking surround setup.

5 out of 5 eggsAcer H236HL 23"

This review is from: Acer H6 Series H236HLbid Black 23" 5ms (GTG) HDMI Widescreen LED Backlight LED Backlit LCD Monitor, IPS Panel 250 cd/m2 ACM 100,000,000:1 (1000:1)

Pros: -great viewing angles and color accuracy (IPS)
-size is just right for me
-sturdy stand with brushed aluminum

Cons: (warning: nit-picking, see other thoughts)
-annoyingly bright blue light on the power button
-glossy plastic atracts dust
-only has tilt adjust

Other Thoughts: I got this from another store because it was on sale for a good price but I still wanted to put a review up here because this is where I found it. also the cons arent "real" cons, so it wasn't worth taking off any eggs.

3 out of 5 eggsGood quality picture, bad quality build

This review is from: Acer H6 Series H236HLbid Black 23" 5ms (GTG) HDMI Widescreen LED Backlight LED Backlit LCD Monitor, IPS Panel 250 cd/m2 ACM 100,000,000:1 (1000:1)

Pros: The picture is great, the monitor looks very nice, brightness is good, I'm happy with everything about the display itself

Cons: 1. The stand/mount is terrible, and the monitor wobbles a lot.
2. The buttons on my monitor have completely stopped working after probably six months. Can't turn my monitor on or off, and I can't access the menu to adjust monitor settings. Have to use third party software to adjust brightness.

Other Thoughts: At least it's NEC. Quality control should be improved.

4 out of 5 eggsVery Nice

This review is from: Acer H6 Series H236HLbid Black 23" 5ms (GTG) HDMI Widescreen LED Backlight LED Backlit LCD Monitor, IPS Panel 250 cd/m2 ACM 100,000,000:1 (1000:1)

Pros: This monitor looks great and seems to respond well. I used it to replace one of the Pro series Dell LCD's from 9 years ago. There was no software included, it just uses the OS driver. Stand assembly was easy as well. Instructions not even needed.

Cons: There is no vesa mount for this monitor. Not a deal breaker for most, but just be aware. This monitor uses a power brick, and the power brick has a non-standard power cable. I much prefer standard power cables when possible, so I have deducted one 'egg' for that.

Other Thoughts: I got this guy on sale, at the same price that the 22" was going for. It was an outstanding deal.
