4 out of 5 eggsGood Value

This review is from: SanDisk SDSSDP-128G-G25 2.5" 128GB SATA III Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: It's works well. I load up OS X 10.10.1 in like 7 seconds. Shutdown in like 3 seconds. Apps such as Photoshop/Illustrator CC open within 5 seconds.

Cons: Cheap casing. Doesn't necessarily feel like a quality product when you hold it in your hands.

Performance: I'm not getting the performance that was advertised. There are a lot of variables that can effect benchmarking tests and I didn't test this drive freshly formatted. But sequential write is like 260-300 MB/Sec, sequential read is like 370-400 MB/Sec.

Other Thoughts: This is a decent performing consumer grade SSD. It was pretty much the cheapest one I could find and I'm happy with it.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat SSD!

This review is from: SanDisk SDSSDP-128G-G25 2.5" 128GB SATA III Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: Nice and speedy!

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: This is my first SSD. It works great and is fast. I don't know enough about them to say whether or not it's bad.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat SSD for the price!!!

This review is from: SanDisk SDSSDP-128G-G25 2.5" 128GB SATA III Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: The setup was very easy - I installed a fresh copy of Windows 8.1 on it and the installation was very fast. I'm so pleased with this drive...I read a few reviews before I purchased it and was a little skeptical but I'm so happy with it's performance thus far...I've installed this in a Toshiba Portege w/4GB ram & 64bit OS installed...which I plan to use for network trouble shooting and various other light duty apps...this SSD had double the speed I previously had....

Cons: I don't have any cons at this point.

Other Thoughts: If you're looking for a cheap SSD with performance that will your you....then, you've fond it

1 out of 5 eggsC-R-A-P, plain and simple

This review is from: SanDisk SDSSDP-128G-G25 2.5" 128GB SATA III Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: Quick, as an SSD should be for the Windows 7 install I used it on. Only pro there is to find, and with the SSD market flooded with options, this really isn't a deal breaker. Got it for $60 on a Shell Shocker. It's light, so you won't add weight to whatever rig you put it in (not really a Pro per se). Was never able to test speeds (or anything else for that matter); see Cons.

Cons: Where to start? I bought this to put in an HTPC build that gets very little use with a WD mechanical HDD for data. Held onto it a month or so while finalizing the rest of my parts (out of return window to Newegg). After putting everything together, ran for a couple weeks (at most, work had me running on empty and this was the first time I got back to the PC to XBMC it) then wouldn't boot. The S.M.A.R.T. table was bad!!! So I contacted Sandisk since I thought they have a good reputation and after 3 WEEKS of emails back and forth with tech support level 1 jokers, I finally got a supervisor's attention.
I told him this was my first Sandisk SSD purchase and I own a gob of SD, micro-SD cards for cameras, tablets, etc with never a problem. Figured the least they could do to restore my confidence was send me a DIFFERENT series SSD since no way in H-E double hockey sticks would I put another one of these in a build and cross my fingers it didn't fail in 14 days or less. Didn't go so smooth.
First, they tried to charge me $50 for advanced replacement shipping and deposit. I got them talked out of that, and they settled to give me free adv. replacement.
Needless to say, when I got the SSD in the mail, not only was it the SAME SERIES, but it's build date was 6 months OLDER than the one that failed! What a joke!!
Physically, like others have said, the casing is plastic and the drive is extremely light to the point of being afraid it's going to break with any pressure on it at all.

Other Thoughts: As is obvious, this is still sitting in the box and I replaced it with a Samsung 840 since that's a name you can actually count on! Sandisk will NEVER get my business again, and all those camera cards are presently sitting in a box with the SSD and have been replaced with Samsung or Lexar SD cards. Do NOT buy this drive, wait for a shell shocker for ANY other brand!

4 out of 5 eggsWorth the price

This review is from: SanDisk SDSSDP-128G-G25 2.5" 128GB SATA III Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: Inexpensive (at the time, cheapest SSD in it's class)
Provided an expected performance boost
No head aches, just works.

Cons: The plastic shell/casing which the drive is surrounded is fragile and may crack from the threaded screw holes to the corner of the drive. This happened to 3x drives I've purchased. Industrial velcro mounting solves the problem.

1 out of 5 eggsi thought it is a solid product but now dead.

This review is from: SanDisk SDSSDP-128G-G25 2.5" 128GB SATA III Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: quite fast and looks like solid but after 7 months of regular use now it is dead. i thought it will be reliable like the other review that i read but it isnt.
because there are no warnings it died just like that. i hope there are warnings if it is going to die so i can back up files but no. i'm super depressed right now.

Cons: i learned my lesson by not buying sandisk ssd.

5 out of 5 eggsGood General Purpose

This review is from: SanDisk SDSSDP-128G-G25 2.5" 128GB SATA III Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: Seems to be dependable, decent size.

Cons: Not as fast as other brands.

Other Thoughts: This is a good drive for general purpose activity. I think this is SanDisk's basic model. Runs fine on SATA2. This one is just about perfect for most older laptop upgrades.

5 out of 5 eggsSpeed Demon

This review is from: SanDisk SDSSDP-128G-G25 2.5" 128GB SATA III Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: Makes every single aspect of my son's laptop faster.

Cons: None at all

Other Thoughts: I bought this to replace my son's aging 7200 rpm mechanical hard drive in his Dell XPS L502X laptop. He went from about a 0:45-1:00 boot up time (give or take) to a 0:15 full system boot. That's from pressing the power button to a fully loaded Windows 8.1 desktop.
File transfer speeds increased by well over 200%. Decompressing (un-rar, un-zip, un-7zip, etc...) speed was cut in half. Games load a heck of a lot faster, and frame rates actually increased by around 3-4 fps.
We wanted to make his laptop as fast as we could possibly get it, so that we could squeeze every possible bit of life out of it, and I'd have to say that we accomplished that goal. He told me it was like having a brand new laptop. Happy children makes for a happy parent.

5 out of 5 eggsQuite satisfied; good value

This review is from: SanDisk SDSSDP-128G-G25 2.5" 128GB SATA III Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: Price point; performance; power draw

Cons: No included cloning software

Other Thoughts: Breathed new life into an older Thinkpad T60, but a bit of a pain since there was no included cloning software, like there was for my Samsung 840. Ended up using Macrium Reflect free for a painless quick and accurate clone. Went from a larger to a smaller HD; Macrium allows for one partition at a time to be cloned.

Ordered 2 more!

3 out of 5 eggsIts ok for the price

This review is from: SanDisk SDSSDP-128G-G25 2.5" 128GB SATA III Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: Great SSD for the price, great for loading an OS and for programs you need speed for.

Cons: The casing is garbage! ive seen crayon boxes with better construction then this ssd.

Other Thoughts: only buy this on sale. if you need an SSD now, choose something else
