5 out of 5 eggsFantastic monitor minus any style or gimmicks

This review is from: ViewSonic VP2365-LED Black 23" 6ms Pivot, Swivel & Height Adjustable Widescreen LCD Monitor 250 cd/m2 DC 20,000,000:1 (1,000:1)

Pros: This is an awesome monitor that I was immediately impressed with. I purchased one for a client of mine (at a much higher price than the time of this writing) and I kept thinking "This is the next monitor I wanted to get".

The brightness in the viewing angle shifts a little bit when I stood up in front of one of these monitors. Other than that the picture is very vivid and sharp. There is no "sparkle" from the anti-glare finish. Its bright but not extremely bright. It is very visible during full-sunlight through a window. So brightness is not an issue.

The warranty is very good. 3 years and the dead-pixel policy is also extremely good. I've had clients with a nice samsung 23" monitor that dies shortly after the 1-year warranty goes out. So a 3-year warranty on a monitor like this is very nice.

No dead pixels at all on any of the 3 that I got. No stuck pixels either.

Its solid. It feels and looks like a tank. The stand it comes with alone is probably worth $100. (see my cons though). The stand is superior to those on similarly priced Dell IPS monitors.

This monitor has a solenoid-base I believe. It has a very fluid movement and rotates on a ball-bearing base. It also can be raised and lowered quite a distance.

The monitor is not very good looking. Viewsonic went with "function over form" on this one. But if you want a solid monitor for video editing and photography editing like I do - I still think this is one of the better monitors to get. Even in the early months of 2015. It is a perfect work machine monitor.

Cons: I have purchased a total of 3 of these monitors for myself and clients. When I finally bit the bullet to buy one for myself - the stand was defective. It was wobbly with no apparent reason why. I took the small screw off at the bottom thinking I could fix it myself and I noticed the plastic "grid" had been melted for some reason all around the edges of the base. There was no ball-bearing assembly or anything.

I was not sure if there was anything missing or if the company had attempted a repair and this one slipped past quality assurance? It was strange. I never had a wobbly base on any monitor. But for a "pro-sumer" model? Absolutely unacceptable. So I sent it back. I am still waiting on the replacement. This caused me an extra week of waiting due to defective monitor stand.

Worse could have happened I suppose.

I still give it 5 out of 5.

No HDMI. No Display Port. No big deal really.

Other Thoughts: I don't understand how 1 out of 3 of these monitors was shipped to me with a wobbly stand. It should have not made it past quality check.

I love the viewsonic warranty for dead-pixel policy.

3 out of 5 eggsDisappointing, avoid for graphics use

This review is from: ViewSonic VP2365-LED Black 23" 6ms Pivot, Swivel & Height Adjustable Widescreen LCD Monitor 250 cd/m2 DC 20,000,000:1 (1,000:1)

Pros: Good color rendition.
Good horizontal viewing angle.
Sturdy stand.

Cons: The vertical viewing angle is poor compared to the previous model, the VP2365wb (ccfl back light). Outside of ±8°, the brightness changes which means you need to be precisely positioned. The previous model had an excellent vertical viewing angle. The 178° vertical viewing angle in the specifications is not true. As far as color shift with changing vertical angle, there is no perceptible shift.

Other Thoughts: I would rate this as a good office monitor where brightness shift isn't a problem.
If you do graphics work, avoid this monitor.
If bystanders need to view this monitor, I would avoid for any use (office and graphics).
Should have paid more attention to the advertising graphics where they show only wide viewing angle horizontally.

5 out of 5 eggsReally like it

This review is from: ViewSonic VP2365-LED Black 23" 6ms Pivot, Swivel & Height Adjustable Widescreen LCD Monitor 250 cd/m2 DC 20,000,000:1 (1,000:1)

Pros: -Fantastic stand
-Sturdy materials
-Simple config interface
-No dead pixels

Cons: -None yet

Other Thoughts: Maybe I'm not picky because I've been using ancient monitors for years now; but I love this monitor. The stand is fantastic (and the primary reason I picked this model). Full range of motion and exception height adjustment. The aesthetics are just what I wanted, non descript and to the point. I really like it.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat, but...

This review is from: ViewSonic VP2365-LED Black 23" 6ms Pivot, Swivel & Height Adjustable Widescreen LCD Monitor 250 cd/m2 DC 20,000,000:1 (1,000:1)

Pros: Excellent color, viewing angle
Superb stand and flexibility. Height adjustment range is perfect to fit my desktop speakers under, and the monitors are stable.
Matte finish for those who rightly despise glossy abominations.
LED backlight saves power.
Newegg was excellent in delivery and price, per usual.
No speakers is a plus for a multi-monitor setup. I'm not interested in the additional cost of sub-par speakers that make for a wider bezel.

Cons: Two dead pixels on delivery, doh!

Other Thoughts: I bought this to complement my discontinued VP2365wb, which is essentially the same monitor with a CCFL backlight. The stand, interface, and housing are all identical as far as I can tell, which is great, because it's rock-solid and flexibly adjustable.
The pictures appear to be pretty close, although the LED monitor has slightly brighter whites. I've wanted a two or three monitor setup at home for a while. (I am spoiled with three at my work desktop!) This is perfect, since it matched my current monitor in size, form, and came close in picture (both are excellent quality and color, just slightly different.)

However, it came with **two dead pixels!** VS' warranty only allows for returns with three or more, naturally, which sucks given that I'm paying extra for an IPS monitor. This is my first time getting burned by the dead pixel fairy. I'll definitely be comparing the dead-pixel-policy of my next monitor/tv purchase!!!

5 out of 5 eggsBeautiful Display

This review is from: ViewSonic VP2365-LED Black 23" 6ms Pivot, Swivel & Height Adjustable Widescreen LCD Monitor 250 cd/m2 DC 20,000,000:1 (1,000:1)

Pros: Crisp display
Excellent color rendition
Holds Color Calibration

Cons: Nothing with the display, but wish that dimensions of most monitors were not HD. I am primarily a photographer and need more height in relation to width than offered with HD.

5 out of 5 eggsVery Good Product

This review is from: ViewSonic VP2365-LED Black 23" 6ms Pivot, Swivel & Height Adjustable Widescreen LCD Monitor 250 cd/m2 DC 20,000,000:1 (1,000:1)

Pros: Color and contrast seems great, no glare or angle issues. Swivel and tilt are very useful--I use them all the time. Can be wall mounted if more adjustment is needed.

Cons: None really, works as expected, very happy with it.

Other Thoughts: Height adjustment doesn't seem that useful since the lowest height from the desktop is 5-1/4" from the bottom of the monitor. I would have liked it to go lower. Can't imagine adjusting it higher. Not crazy about the bright blue power on light, but it's not distracting.

5 out of 5 eggsSo much better!

This review is from: ViewSonic VP2365-LED Black 23" 6ms Pivot, Swivel & Height Adjustable Widescreen LCD Monitor 250 cd/m2 DC 20,000,000:1 (1,000:1)

Pros: Color, Bright, no glare, excellent contrast, wide view angle, swivel/adjustable stand, basic design (simple, not flashy)

Cons: Not slim, but I think the narrow bezel and basic design makes up for it

Other Thoughts: I bought this monitor after extensive review because I had previously purchased two of the 20" 'deal of the day' monitors - planning for a dual display. I set up just one of the other monitors and was so frustrated with poor contrast and dingy colors and glare that I sent both back (even suffered the restocking fee)

I looked into LCD panel technology and this Viewsonic model had better true contrast than most and uses "in plane switching" or IPS with the result of a wide viewing angle, excellent colors and contrast. I ended up spending more on this 23" monitor than on 2 of the 20 inchers combined, and though I would still like a dual set-up, I couldn't be happier. The 23 inches still affords a lot of real estate for multiple windows/programs.

It is not as warm as my previous 19" LCD, thanks to LED, and I usually use the econo mode so that it is less harsh in a dark room, but still brightens in the middle of the day.

4 out of 5 eggsExcellent Quality

This review is from: ViewSonic VP2365-LED Black 23" 6ms Pivot, Swivel & Height Adjustable Widescreen LCD Monitor 250 cd/m2 DC 20,000,000:1 (1,000:1)

Pros: +The standard colors are correct! You don't have to mess around with the color settings unless you like a very 'cool' or 'warm' picture.
+LED power light is small and subtle. Hardly noticable when watching a movie in a dim room.
+Does not wobble unless you deliberately shake your desk in an attempt to see if it wobbles. Otherwise, elbow bumps and typing won't rock it.
+Screen powers off when comp goes to standby, auto-on when comp resumes.
+Sturdy design makes me feel confident about the monitor lasting a long time.
+Quickly switch between VGA and DVI with one button
+Screws for VGA & DVI cables actually fit lol. So many lower-end monitors aren't aligned properly with the screws.

Cons: -Wish there was an HDMI socket. Would have made it complete
-Not the slimmest LED monitor out there, but the picture matters the most
-Design is not the prettiest.

Other Thoughts: ~The design is very traditional, which I like. It's not cutting-edge modern glossy design like the rest. It's very reminiscent of the dawn of flat screen displays.
