5 out of 5 eggsIntel 730 SSD 240GB

This review is from: Intel 730 Series SSDSC2BP240G4R5 2.5" 240GB SATA 6Gb/s MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: Easy to install, Intel supplied hardware screws and drive attaches to existing drive bay cage without any adapters needed.
Decided on clean os install and use existing 1TB platter drive for storage.
Boot time went from 1.5 minutes to around 15-20 seconds, Win7.
Super quiet and no heat. ( Had to get used to a faint clicking when drive engaged but barely noticeable)
Overall very happy and was able to score great deal on drive price through Newegg.

Cons: Concerned about losing total drive space too soon. 240 GB so far ok for boot up os and a few programs. The newer program files are huge and are getting bigger which require tons more space. The 480 GB would have been best but not until price point is reasonable.

Pros: Fast

Other Thoughts: Through no fault of Newegg, there was a problem with delivery. Newegg went above and beyond to satisfy me. They are a great group of people to work with.

5 out of 5 eggsHeaven is a fast SSD

This review is from: Intel 730 Series SSDSC2BP240G4R5 2.5" 240GB SATA 6Gb/s MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: This thing is super fast and after loading up my copy of windows and my most frequently played games. I will never go back to not having a SSD at least for boot up purposes.

Cons: You pay for speed not for size 240 GB is on the small side but these things are cheap enough right now on newegg $130 off retail I already have one and might buy 1-2 more

Other Thoughts: Worth the buy get one today!!!

5 out of 5 eggs

This review is from: Intel 730 Series SSDSC2BP240G4R5 2.5" 240GB SATA 6Gb/s MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: This SSD boots extremely fast, there is no wait time when loading. Able to boot into Windows 7 within seconds. I originally bought this on sale and was a little concerned if this would work with my set up, I wanted to duel boot Windows 8 and Ubuntu. It worked perfectly and I was able to switch between the two in under a minute. I am now using it for Windows 7 because my previous set up failed due to an error I made.

Cons: The only negative thing that I have noticed is it will freeze up my system for about 15 second at a time, but I'm not taking away from the overall rating because this could easily be something that I have configured wrong.

Other Thoughts: i cannot rate this item other than 1 star. when i try to download the installation and updated software the license agreement screen hangs up the computer. unable to install device.

when i try to contact customer support , the product listing shows only bundles of 10 or more of the product. tired of wasting my time.

5 out of 5 eggsFast and Reliable

This review is from: Intel 730 Series SSDSC2BP240G4R5 2.5" 240GB SATA 6Gb/s MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: Fast!!
Drive Monitoring Tools

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Bought the drive when it was on sale right before Christmas. I did a fresh install of Windows 7 on this drive. I am using it mainly as a boot disk, but I have installed a couple of programs on it. Running Office 2010 from the drive, boots up noticeably faster then from a Hard Disk. As for boot times, my PC boots in less then 10 seconds. I can't speak for reliability at this time but if earlier reviews are accurate this drive should last me a long time.

Cons: Had a little difficulty with raid but it was my fault.

4 out of 5 eggsThe PCIe 750 is coming - very soon

This review is from: Intel 730 Series SSDSC2BP240G4R5 2.5" 240GB SATA 6Gb/s MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: This is a great SATA III SSD, from a first line manufacturer. If you are looking for a solid SATA III SSD, the sale on these drives right now is fantastic.

Cons: A much better performing Intel SSD (Model 750) is just about to be released, but it requires a PCIe connection to deliver it's stellar performance. If you have a PCIe interface, then it would be wise to wait for the 750.

4 out of 5 eggs2 in RAID 0

This review is from: Intel 730 Series SSDSC2BP240G4R5 2.5" 240GB SATA 6Gb/s MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: They seem to be running very solidly in RAID 0 with onboard raid controller on a Sabertooth 990fX.

Cons: The 240 GB version has half the write speed of the 480... I didn't realize this until after I bought the drives or I would have probably gone with the larger drive or a different brand

Other Thoughts: Setup RAID 0 with Asus Sabertooth 990FX rev 1. In my previously review using only a single drive, I was getting very low read and writes. Now with RAID 0, I'm gettng 850 reads and 566 writes which I'm happy with.
