3 out of 5 eggswell,it played for a while

Pros: its a good player so far,the network works flawless (wired).

Cons: no WiFi adapter included means extra $$$. I had it wired with a 6 dollar cable. Unfortunately shortly after warranty expires, the network function ceased to work. well, have to do w/o it.

Other Thoughts: for the price I have payed it was a very good player (and still is). Just would like to have my internet connection back.

3 out of 5 eggsCould have been better, but lack of DIVX is a killer!

Pros: Nice player for standard Blu-Ray and DVD discs. Has SD and USB slots

Cons: While it has SD and USB, those slots are fairly USELESS, when it doesn't even play most video formats off of those devices!

Also the required PROPRIETY WIFI adapter, costing $80, is way overpriced and no generic is readily available

Other Thoughts: This could have been a nice player, but the fact it won't recognize most DIVX and XVID media formats knocks off 1-2 eggs. The clincher for the second egg off is the proprietary, ungodly EXPENSIVE WIFI adapter. I knew one was required, but I was hoping it would be available for a reasonable cost, or a generic model would be available. This almost made me take 3 eggs off, when considering the lack of DIVX, but I hate to give only 2 eggs on a device which is a decent disc player.

I thought any decent DVD player would have DIVX and XVID support, too. My cheap 6-year-old DVD player had this ability. Why not a nicer, newer Blu-Ray? Oh, well, I will be much more skeptical of Panasonic BR capabilities in the future.

5 out of 5 eggsNice!

Pros: Price! Great picture! Plays every cd/dvd you can imagine.

Cons: Need WiFi adapter.

Other Thoughts: The WiFi is not that big of issue for me. We will probably never even use it. I am one of those people who like to have an actual disc in my hand and like to go to the store and look for one to rent or buy.

3 out of 5 eggsDefinite Network Problems

Pros: DVD's play with astounding quality. When the network works it is good.

Cons: VieraCast is very slow. Netflix interface is clunky and not anywhere near as good as Roku's. There seems to be few ways to debug this and Panasonic support is non-existent.

Other Thoughts: I mainly use this for DVD's (no problem whatsoever) and through the Network (wired) with Netflix and Pandora. Pandora seems ok. Netflix is ALWAYS trouble and requires far too much buffering to make viewing pleasant. Netflix support claims it is my ISP, they are no help. Same video, same internet connection with my computer is perfect, ROKU is perfect. Tried network settings with DHCP vs Fixed IP, no difference, changed DNS to OpenDNS, no difference, changed the cable (etc etc) no difference. Obviously I use the latest firmware. Have the DMP in router's DMZ, although it should not matter, but no difference. Router not the problem. One trick I did to fix it to some extent is to each time I want to use NetFlix, I reconfigure the network settings using the Easy set up. Somehow it makes the connection faster, although not perfect. My internet connection ranges between 20-30 Mb/s. Either this device has an ethernet card problem or they need to again upgrade their firmware.

4 out of 5 eggsBeware the dongle

Pros: Everything works great. For the money you get good quality decent interface and startup times

Cons: So I knew going into this purchase that the "wifi ready" meant that you still needed a wireless adapter for it to work as it did not have it's own antennae. "fine, only another 50 bucks or so for an 802.11n wifi adapter." What I didn't know is you can't use ANY wifi adapter you have to buy Panasonic's own adapter at a price of 90$. More than half the price of the BD player itself.

Other Thoughts: Overall, nothing wrong with the product. Just remember that the wifi adapter is going to set you back 90$ new, about 50-60$ used elsewhere.

3 out of 5 eggsVery slow Netflix

Pros: It works as a Blu-Ray player and can access Netflix (usually).

Cons: The Viera-Cast access is VERY slow and the interface is clunky. No way to access other content on the network and doesn't play all types of computer files.

Other Thoughts: I have both this player, and a Samsung C5500. Both are on the same network, with the same router, and even the ethernet cables are from the same manufacturer bought from New Egg at the same time.

The Samsung is far and away the better player, and is (usually) cheaper too. It's much faster accessing Netflix, it can play almost any file type, it can play them across the network from another computer. It also has a much easier graphic interface.

Also, a few times the Panasonic couldn't find Netflix...I had to re-start the player. Very frustrating. I've yet to encounter that problem with the Samsung.

5 out of 5 eggsGood Player for the Money

Pros: Not a single problem with this player. Bought this after horrible experience with a Samsung Bluray player.
I have seen about 3 firmware updates come since I installed it over the net. Each one flashes properly and it works afterwords. I have not encountered a disc that has an issue yet. I have an SD card in it for updates and no problems there either.

Cons: Firmware updates can take quite a bit of time.

Other Thoughts: For the money this is a solid performer. I use the multi-channel audio and it works well.

4 out of 5 eggsGood price for standard features

Pros: Set up is really easy. Plug and play. Streams well with a WIRED LAN connection. Start up is fast and simple. Controller is not overly confusing. Good blu-ray player for the price ($100).

Cons: Not much. One could make the argument that it takes more money to make it wireless but you have to understand that BEFORE you but it not after.

Other Thoughts: Understand what you need for your layout (wired or wireless) and then choose the product that would best serve your needs. It just so happened that this was the best for me for a WIRED set up. Has all the features without having to hassle with a wireless set up.

3 out of 5 eggsNot as advertised

Pros: It works with Wi-Fi and Netflex - have not tried a Blu-ray disk. Received the player as a gift from my son and it was advertised as being Wi-Fi enabled. With the player my son included a wireless USB adapter but it would not work. After trying different alternatives, found I needed a special Panasonic USB Adapter, an option, that cost $93 with tax at Best Buy. NewEgg as usual is less expensive - no Tucson 10% sales tax.

Cons: This player is not and I mean it is NOT WiFi ready - you will need a special USB adapter costing about $90. If this adapter was included, I would rate it 5 stars at this point. Most certainly if you plan on using this player wireless, it is not an inexpensive option adding the proprietary and expensive USB adapter.

Other Thoughts: So far I connected the player to my old TV using the video out and download Netflex off of my old G wireless router - that works to my amazement. It does not come with a HDMI cable but will use that option in the future. I purchased a HDMI cable for my computer monitor from NewEgg for about $3 on a special deal but a new cable will cost more. Again another added cost -

1 out of 5 eggsComes with nothing needed.

Pros: None, it's a bluray player that ships with RCA cables. So it's a standard definition player out of the box. That's it. Any other functionality is going to cost you extra $$$ which was very unclear.

Cons: The product is an HD bluray player that is "Wireless LAN ready". It does not come with a HDMI or any other HD cable which is forgivable. It also does not come with any Wireless LAN functionality, which is UNFORGIVABLE. You need to buy a seperate wirelass LAN adapter which was very unclear.

Other Thoughts: The amount of false advertising this product has is staggering. I'm not sure how you can label a product as ready for a certain function when it IS NOT. If you need to buy a separate adapter for that function then it is not ready. Simple enough.
