5 out of 5 eggsWorked on car stereo out of the box

This review is from: Kingston 64GB USB 2.0 Flash Drive Model DTMCK/64GB

Pros: Small, doesn't stick out of my car stereo like normal ones do.
Already formatted in FAT32, worked in the car stereo right out of the box, no formatting needed.

Cons: Why do I have to put something here? Okay, one con, I think it's stupid that the web designer forces people to write a con before you can click "submit", but doesn't require a title.
Sometimes there are no cons.

Other Thoughts: I was expecting to have to format this like the last one I bought (different brand) but when I checked it was FAT32 so I quickly dumped a couple of folders with MP3's on it, ran out to the car to test it and it worked, no formatting.
I was really surprised because another reviewer said his came formatted in exFAT.
Kingston must have changed how they format them at the factory.

Pros: Small, High Capacity, Holds all my MP3s for my in car audio system.

Cons: NONE

Other Thoughts: I like this unit because it's small and cannot be easily seen when plugged into my in car audio system. Just what I was looking for the job.

1 out of 5 eggsI must be missing something

This review is from: Kingston 64GB USB 2.0 Flash Drive Model DTMCK/64GB

Pros: High Capacity

Cons: So slow as to be unusable.

It took 14 hours to create a Windows 7 VM on it.

4 out of 5 eggsTiny, just what I wanted

This review is from: Kingston 64GB USB 2.0 Flash Drive Model DTMCK/64GB

Pros: Incredibly small
Pretty cheap
Black, not some crazy color with 50 sun-bright lights

Cons: Slow <-- minus an egg
exFAT <-- easily changed if needed, see other thoughts

Other Thoughts: I wanted a flash drive for my car stereo since it wasn't playing well with my media player. This drive fits the bill perfectly. It is very small, so it doesn't stick out and look ridiculous.

Copying my music over took a long time due to the slow speeds of this drive, but it's just a minor inconvenience. Besides, I would glady have a slow drive that is unobtrusive in this application.

Another minor inconvenience was the formatting of the drive. It comes in exFAT format which my stereo can't understand. So I try formatting it on my machine, Windows 7, no dice. I can only choose exFAT or NTFS. I could command line it, but that would take forever and likely fail.

Thankfully Verbatim has a free FAT32 formatting utility that you can easily find in a web search. Formatting took about 10 minutes, and we're good to go.

So if you want something very very small with a large capacity, then this is the drive for you. If you want something that is lightning quick, look elswhere.
