5 out of 5 eggsWell constructed, fast, and cheap

This review is from: Kingston SSDNow V300 Series 2.5" 60GB SATA III Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) SV300S37A/60G

Pros: .
- Thinner than most drives, but package contains an adhesive standoff in case this presents a problem for you
- Case is constructed out of metal. This gives it a nice feel.
- Not the fastest drive on the market, but still blows away any mechanical drive.
- Includes a USB-powered portable drive cage.
- Great price for what's included.

Cons: - The included disc is supposed to contain drive imaging software to migrate an existing operating system to the new drive. Instead it just contains the manual in a bunch of different languages.
-Portable drive cage is USB 2.0, would be more useful if 3.0 or better.

Other Thoughts: - I bought 4 of these and they have only been installed for a couple of weeks, so I can't speak to their longevity.
- If I was going to do this again, I would probably go with 120GB drives. 60GB is a little tight for Windows and I'm slightly uncomfortable about that.
- The missing software is supposed to be Acronis True Image. The manual for it is included on the CD. Fortunately, you can download a full-featured trial version from the Acronis web site. It allowed me to image an existing Windows install without the image claiming to be a pirated copy.

5 out of 5 eggsBoot times? What boot times?

This review is from: Kingston SSDNow V300 Series 2.5" 60GB SATA III Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) SV300S37A/60G

Pros: Very fast, Easy to install, and I've had no problems with it.

Cons: None that I can think of :)

Other Thoughts: I'm using this really only for my operating system. I have an external USB HDD for my other stuff / games. If you're contemplating this because it's cheaper than a 120Gb SSD, just remember, 60 gigs go really fast :/ By the time I had installed the operating system and other essentials, I had about 18 or so gigs left to use for fun things... Just be aware of that.

4 out of 5 eggsGood, but small

This review is from: Kingston SSDNow V300 Series 2.5" 60GB SATA III Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) SV300S37A/60G

Pros: I like the Kingston product line, and the ONLY reason I've taken off one egg is that I've found it is a little small for my use on a Windows 7 machine. Otherwise, I really like these and only recommend using the 120+ GB size drives made by Kingston instead.

Cons: none

5 out of 5 eggsJust great

This review is from: Kingston SSDNow V300 Series 2.5" 60GB SATA III Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) SV300S37A/60G

Pros: Price is low
Speeds up an old computer big time
Easy to install
Hasn't had problems for the past 1.5 years of daily use

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: For an old black MacBook that was almost dead (hd crashed, and generally just super slow before that), this cheap SSD brought it back to life. It's not large, of course, but the laptop is only used for email, web, printing, etc, so this was a perfect fit. Made it boot waaay faster and programs open faster as well. Would definitely buy it again.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat for Windows 7

This review is from: Kingston SSDNow V300 Series 2.5" 60GB SATA III Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) SV300S37A/60G

Pros: I got this to put on my new PC build. It is really fast and has been dependable so far.

Windows 7 and 8 have the functionality to detect, format, and install without any extra drivers.

With an SSD this size, you can fit the Windows 7, all the windows updates, ability to hibernate, and 8 gigs of page filing with no problem. I still have 20 gigs left over.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: This is the 2.5" size. Older PC cases like mine only have 5.25 and 3.5 slots, so you may also want to purchase a 2.5 to 3.5 conversion.

Also, if you are building a new machine, just drop the OS on this drive. As I stated earlier, after all the updates, you are left with about 15 - 20 gigs. That is enough to continue updating going forward, but not for adding a lot of extra programs

4 out of 5 eggsFast enough for me, but not enough storage for an OS

This review is from: Kingston SSDNow V300 Series 2.5" 60GB SATA III Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) SV300S37A/60G

Pros: Fast, my computer boots up within 7 seconds.

Cons: 60GB is not enough to run Windows 8.1. It's been doing alright for the last year, but my computer crashes almost weekly because the disk keeps filling up. I've done everything I can think of, but Windows 8 will not give you the option to download apps on another drive except for the boot drive, and trying to alter that can seriously screw up every app.

Other Thoughts: Save the trouble, get this drive but with more storage.
