5 out of 5 eggsIt Works!

Pros: This adapter effortlessly connected my old HP printer to my Win 7 machine! I powered on the printer and connected the parallel plug end to it. When I inserted the USB end to my computer, Windows instantly & automatically installed the drivers and it was ready to go in less than a minute with no effort on my end.

I couldn't believe it; I was ready for a fight installing this sucker, but, BOOM -- done. I had to print out a test page just to make sure. ;)

I definitely would recommend this to anyone who has a parallel-only printer, but no parallel port on their computer.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: My Printer: HP LaserJet 6L
My OS: Win 7 Pro x64

The thing kind of has a 90's retro look with the blue end plugs and the clear casing that shows off the braided steel shielding. I guess that is appropriate since I plugged it into my 90's printer! The coloring reminds me of my old iomega Zip Drive!

Oh, and you gotta love those 15 year-old HP laser printers. They just keep chugging along!

5 out of 5 eggsWorks!

Pros: Cheap and straightforward, also lovely translucent blue accents, if you like admiring cords. My XP and Win 7 systems instantly recognized and enabled my ancient HP 842c printer. Obviously, I still couldn't print, because you need both tricolor and black cartridges present to use the darn thing and I only had black - like the time Peter Griffin only had written consent from the NFL to watch the game. Make your own mwah-mwah-mwaahhhh sound here, but this adapter is A-OK.

Cons: None

4 out of 5 eggsUSB to Parallel cable

Pros: I got one for an old HP laserjet printer to see if I could get it working with my new Windows 7 laptop. And, I did manage it. You have to hook up the cable to the computer first without it being connected to the printer. Then Windows will install the driver for that device. I had trouble figuring out then how to get the printer driver to download.

Various sites said it would come down the pipe from Windows Update, but it wouldn't. I went into the printer area of the software and it showed that the device had a problem as shown by a yellow exclamation point. When I clicked on it, it asked if I wanted help with it and when I chose Yes and logged in as the administrator, it THEN downloaded the printer driver and set the printer up as the default. That fixed it, But it was not easy to find out how to do that--no information came with the cable and it was not readily available on the web. Many websites and online forums said that Windows update would take care of it, but they did not specify how.

Anyway, the printer works. The connector only cost $6--not bad. There were no instructions as to how to get the cable to be recognised by the operating sytem.

Cons: NO documentation as to how to make it work.

5 out of 5 eggsworks great

Pros: Plugged in my old HP 5MP to my laptop, no muss no fuss, drivers loaded and it all worked.

Cons: No cons

Other Thoughts: Cable came in about 3 working days (free shipping), up and running right away. It took longer to rip open the package than to get my printer working.
