5 out of 5 eggsGreat little camera (for our purchase price)

Pros: Small, compact and lightweight.

Very good photo quality for a compact camera.

Excellent battery life (using rechargeable AA NiMH batteries, 2 X AA alkaline are included.)

Uses AA batteries, so spare batteries are available almost everywhere in a pinch.

Holds 1000+ shots on an 8GB SD card, even at maximum resolution.

Decent zoom lens for a camera of this caliber.

Almost everything needed to get started immediately is included (memory card is not included.)

Cons: Canon usually does a pretty good job in keeping their camera options/setting consistent from one camera to the next; this one does deviate in a few areas, but not so significantly as to lose an Egg.

The included software is easy to use, but a little less customizable than desired, i.e., when you download pictures, you're unable to rename them fully, so it has to be done as a batch process afterward.

Chews through standard alkaline AA batteries quite fast, immediately get yourself some quality, rechargeable NiMH if you plan on using this camera often. If not, carry several spare alkaline (or better yet, lithium) AA batteries.

No SD card included, but not expected in this price-range, either.

Other Thoughts: My wife is a professional photographer in addition to her usual day job, but while going on a long-weekend vacation with her sister, she didn't want to lug around her huge, heavy and expensive professional rig just to take some casual snapshots around Key West. Hence, the search began for a very-portable, but still decent, compact digital camera. We also didn't want to invest a lot of money in a compact-camera since it would only be used infrequently.

There are a LOT of choices out there, but due to her experience and familiarity with Canon products, that was where our search began and quickly ended. It's easy to spend several hundred dollars even on a non-DSLR, but the better the camera, invariably the size and weight increase as well. Alternatively, you can also pay quite a bit to get the camera as compact as possible, and may not get great photo-quality, either. This little guy was a great blend of affordability, size, weight and convenience. After her trip, the wife is satisfied with the convenience and performance of this unit and felt it was a very good choice for her needs.

This will camera will never compete with her full-sized, several thousand dollar rig for photo quality, but it easily blows it away for portability and convenience.

NOTE: We gave this camera a 5-Egg rating at the price-point for which we purchased it at the time (~$99,) if I had to pay more than $120 (including shipping) I'd have to give it a 4-Egg rating. It's a great value at our purchase price and I let it squeak through with 5 Eggs (which I very rarely do for any product,) but at a higher price I wouldn't see as much value here.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Like every other Canon Camera I've owned (which is one other), this one is just fantastic. I had a Nikon CoolPix camera before I bought this.
You don't have to set the timer before each and every single picture.
Many pictures can be taken by holding the button down and pointing at stuff. And junk...
Interface is fairly intuitive, so no real need for a manual.

Cons: Battery life sucks. If you've a 2GB card and shoot video, your battery will likely run out before the card is full...

4 out of 5 eggsI Love It

Pros: Really like the camera.

Cons: The rechargable batteries do not last anytime at all. After taking a few pics, the charge light comes on and then it tells me to recharge the batteries. Don't know if it's the camera itsself, or the batteries.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat

Pros: Purchased to replace an older Sony camera that just wasn't cutting it. I chose the Canon because of the great success I have with lower priced Canon cameras at our shop.

This is easy to use, excellent image quality, and a great zoom. As a test of the zoom I focused in on my stereo reciever that was 12 feet away. I was impressed with the fact that I could clearly read all the script on the buttons in the picture that I took. Large LCD screen and information pop-ups guide you to success.

Cons: You have to manually raise the flash but that's something you simply get used to.

Other Thoughts: My wife hates complex gadgets so much that if she suspects that it might be difficult to use she won't touch it. She is happy with this camera which to me says a lot.

2 out of 5 eggsPoor Camera

Pros: Nice Zoom, Good Mega Pixel Count

Cons: You have to flip up the flash and it has a very long flash charge time compared to other cameras. No view finder. Difficult to hold, no place to put your thumb.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: This camera is amazing. It is the perfect upgrade from an older camera. I learned my lesson on canon quality and made sure I bought a canon this time. If you want the best then buy the 1000.00 canon. But if you want a great camera that you can drop in the ocean and not hate yourself for a decade then here it is. It has so many features I am still learning. But if you are a novice you have a setting and if you are a pro you have multiple settings. Would be a great learning camera for that 13 year old buddinf photographer. Be sure to couple with the 16 GB sandisc extreme class 10. Do not bottleneck the cameras speed.

Cons: I want 2. My wife will figure out how to use it soon.

5 out of 5 eggsI'm an Artist, not a photographer.

Pros: I LOVE it! I previously owned a SX130IS and this is an ok upgrade. Fits fine in a breast pocket for quick deployment. Certainly a great ZOOM lens on the thing. All the creative mode are there. Super Vivid and Miniature mode being my favorites. Battery life seems to be improved. Style looks great. I can't hold onto those tiny rectangle cameras and take myself seriously. This SX150 has a good hand fit without being overly bulky. Like I said, it still fits in a breast pocket just fine. What has changed from the SX130 is the way you will navigate. One super cool thing is the instant video button holds what ever photo effect you have set.. SO if you are in super vivid and hit the Record Video, you instantly have a super vivid color video. If you are doing color accents, hit record and have instant amazing color accent video without switching a bunch of settings. I think that's a liberating thing for your creativity! Not to mention it's super affordable.

Cons: the only thing I can say is it has a noticeable level of noise when compared to the SX130. ...but 130 had struck an incredible level of image quality and a regular user might not notice. I think the incresed noise is due to the higher Mega pixel count (14.1 up from 12.1) It's STILL a great photo most times, but you do notice the noise in say a 15 second exposure of a night sky full of stars.

Other Thoughts: improved batteries, faster zoom, instant creative video, affordable price, ARTISTIC camera, quick deployment, fair video, wind reduction works, use the wrist strap and don't drop it!

5 out of 5 eggsVery Nice Camera

Pros: I didn't buy this Camera at Newegg.I usually buy everything from them but was out of town working in a Fred Meyer store in Oregon and this was on sale for $199.00 also. this camera has some very nice options. Although I'm a rookie with picture taking this is a very easy camera to use with good results for the normal point and shoot person. A good Zoom is a must and this one is nice for this size of camera in this price range. People keep saying how big it is but i disagree with them. It is a nice size and fits hand well. I had to return two other camers before getting this one and am very happy with it.

Cons: The only thing missing with this deal was no SD card came with the deal and the batteries were cheep. But the cost to fix these two problems were fairly cheep. You need to use a sandisk class 10 card for best results. And the more expensive rechargeable batters also.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Everyday Camera

Pros: This camera does what it is intended to do very well. It has a huge zoom and takes pretty good pictures. I especially like the size and battery life. It is just small enough to fit in my pockets and enough battery life to last a complete 4 day vacation.

Cons: If I had to give a gripe it would be for image quality but note that the image quality is pretty good by my standards and should please anyone buying a camera this cheap
