3 out of 5 eggsI made it work

Pros: Plays blu ray discs.

Cons: Comes with a Y cable, not very quiet.

Other Thoughts: If under specs it had said that it comes with a Y cable, I would never have bought this. The surface tablet only has one USB port and the device definitely needed more power than one could provide. I was however able to provide the extra power through an externally powered hub. So, overall I got it to work but it isn't the best solution.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: great price, slick looks, lightweight, blu-ray software included, USB 3.0

Cons: none so far. i've only put it to basic use though.

Other Thoughts: watched about five blu-ray DVD's with the included software and it worked like a charm on Windows 8.

1 out of 5 eggsWorked for about 4 months

Pros: While it worked, it played Bluray movies and other types of discs great and worked fine for writing discs as well.

Cons: I bought it in May 2013 to go with my new Lenovo Y500 which has a second graphics card instead of a built-in CD drive. It worked fine until mid-September, when it grew increasingly flaky every time I plugged it in. For the last week it always gave me a message telling me it was on USB 2 when it was actually plugged into a USB 3 port. Now whenever I plug it in, it doesn't work at all and I get an error about a power surge on my USB port. I suspect the cable that comes with the drive is faulty, but I have no way to be sure. Of course since it only comes with a 30 day warranty there's nothing I can do, so now I'll need to find something else.

Other Thoughts: Don't waste your money on this. It's warrantied to last 30 days and 30 days is all it likely will last.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Choice

Pros: Stylish, blackened brushed aluminum housing that is solid... not that cheap bendable plastic. Super Speed USB 3.0. Blu-Ray capacity means no more dealing with Dual-Layer DVD's but it does have that capability.

Cons: Blu-Ray media is more expensive,

Other Thoughts: I am very satisfied with this... the price point was good for what it offers and the solid build was a great bonus! Provided cable offers a second connector for additional power if you are connecting to USB 2.0... I find this a bit lame for a USB 3.0 device, but it is useable on a 2.0 connection so it is a needed option. I just wish they would offer this on a second cable instead.

5 out of 5 eggsFast Blu-Ray Drive

Pros: Very fast Blu-Ray read speeds. Reads Blu-Rays that other drives can't. Sturdy, reliable.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: This drive looks good and is built like a tank (brushed aluminum case). I have several Blu-Ray drives from Samsung and others. This drive is up to 3 times faster with Blu-Ray read speeds up to 26Mbps, compared to 7-9Mbps from my Samsung. When my other drives get read errors, I put the disc in this drive and it plows through, sometimes with no errors. It's a great buy. I bought 4 of them.

4 out of 5 eggsGood portable Blu-Ray player

Pros: Quality construction, doesn't require external power supply, portable

Cons: Included software (Cyberlink PowerDVD version 10) won't play Blu-Ray on Windows 8, have to upgrade to newer version for full Windows 8 compatibility.

Other Thoughts: Works great on Surface Pro, albeit with upgrade to included software.

5 out of 5 eggsJust right for my needs

Pros: I bought this Blu-ray to pair up with my new Acer Iconia W700 tablet. It works beautifully and is solid in construction, compact (which is important as I toss it into my laptop bag), and will play movies without a hitch. Very nice product; well made.

Cons: None so far!

2 out of 5 eggsMissing drivers or defective write

Pros: My new Asus Ultrabook seems to power this fine. I used it to install Microsoft office pro 2010 so I know it reads disks fine and quickly so the USB 3.0 works. Well finished, quiet, thin and light, will need a sleeve or case to be carried with an Utrabook that has no internal dvd drive.

Cons: I can't get the computer to write anything to any disk, such as a rescue disk on this USB 3.0 Archgon writer. Is there a missing driver? Or is the write head defective? The only thing the quick installation guide says is don't drop it, don't water it, don't place near magnetic fields, don't disassemble. (in 12 languages)

Other Thoughts: Hard to reach live help on a holiday weekend, I don't know whether I'm in error or the drive is defective. I would rate higher if this is just a defective product and the replacement works... the jury is out.
