1 out of 5 eggsWhat happened to the eject button?

Pros: It is a slot loading drive.

Cons: Archgon changed the internal DVD drive for CB-5021-GD from Panasonic UJ-8C5 to UJ-8A7. The new model has no eject button. Sure, you can always eject a disc by right-clicking on the drive icon and choosing eject from the menu, but obviously the people who make the decision to go that way never have to work with optical drives on a regular basis. Not a lot of people are aware of how to do it this way and it's very cumbersome, slow way of working. Instead of just pushing the button, you now have to navigate several menus.
Also if the drive is in a unit that is side-mounted, the disc falls out once you do eject it, that wasn't the case on the previous drive.
The last thing to point out is the slimline SATA cable converter that they include. It has an old style 4-pin power connector along with the SATA data connector. If a computer has a connector for SATA data, it will more than likely have a SATA power connector. It would make more sense to include a standard SATA data/power converter, and in the event the consumer needs a different power plug - it's just about the cheapest cable to buy.

4 out of 5 eggsIt plays cds

Pros: Reads discs, decent price

Cons: somewhat cheap and loud

Other Thoughts: purchased this to go into my silverstone ft03 so i didnt need the 5.25 adapter thingy but that thing is made entirely of plastic which is pretty sad, i wouldnt have installed it in my full tower as it looks cheap. but this worked for my needs as all i needed was the laptop drive and newegg doesnt carry any of those at this moment

4 out of 5 eggsIt's a slot-loader!

Pros: Works well. Comes with a kit if i want to install it in a desktop.

Cons: Flimsy plastic and metal. But at the price what can you expect?

Other Thoughts: Would've been nice if it gave me more than a trial of PowerDVD.

4 out of 5 eggsWhat the Dr. ordered...

Pros: Extremely compact. Slot-loading

Cons: none so far...

Other Thoughts: I used this in a small form m-ATX build for the boss man. The case stands on edge and he has had problems with tray loading optical drives in that position (broken trays on 2 units) so I used this slot-loader on the new build. Looking good so far...

1 out of 5 eggsNot worth it.

Pros: Great idea.

Cons: Terrible implementation, I was expecting something a little more sturdy for 45 bucks. Just needs better materials and it would have had five eggs, but the plastic is just so... flimsy.

Other Thoughts: I don't think I will be buying anymore Archgon products after this one. It is way overpriced, to bad since this is great for small media center cases. Still on the fence about sending it back. Worried about the drive itself holding up after seeing the chassis it's in.
