5 out of 5 eggsNaxa 2.8" Black 4GB Portable Media Player NMV-155

Pros: Everything including the price. I took it out to the river for a fishing trip and hooked up to some portable speakers. Worked great and battery life was pretty good. Pictures aren't the greatest quality but not bad for such a small device

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Get one

4 out of 5 eggsGets the job done for cheep

Pros: Plays music
Cheep
big display
touch screen *(see other thoughts)*

Cons: when i turn the player off, then back on. the music will start at a different place from where i left off.

no firmware updates. or rather, the companies website offers none. the CD it comes with has a firmware update but it doesn't do much to help. the player doesn't have too many options or settings.

the head phones this player comes with don't sound very good. i just used some JVC's i had and it sounds fine.

Other Thoughts: feels super light weight. so much so that i feel it is almost cheep.

*touch screen is not very sensitive. but it gets the job done. i recommend using the stylist, much more accurate on a small screen then ur fingers.

All the fancy bells and whistles are cool and all, but I only want something that will play music, this meets my requirements. updated firmware would be nice though.

2 out of 5 eggsLess Kudos then what I thought.

Pros: Nice screen display, easy touch sensitivity, picks up on music/video where you left off.Came with stylus, earbuds. Mini SD works, came with software converter for video playback.Has some nice camera effects. Overall ease of use was pretty good until.......

Cons: Ive noticed that the usb plug-in for the player is loose,so when it comes to charging you cant bump it or it stops charging. No place to put that stylus, thought it would have been awesome if they had a slot for it. I agree with the other review made on the radio, I can't pick up one radio station at all. User equalizer could be better,I use JBL headphones so i get decent playback(the earbuds are comfortable but music does not come in crisp and clear and weirdly has more bass then usual buds.). Soon as you plug in any headphones a noticeable hum occurs and does not stop unless you are watching video or playing music. Camera shots are fuzzy and trying to delete pics is a pain. I expected some kind of Tech support for firmware upgrade from Naxa, sorry to disappoint you guys but its non-existent so the Upgrade section is a total washout. I thought this was going to be a steal from the price markdown from 120$ to 40$,now i realize why the unit was marked down,it's problematic.

Other Thoughts: I put in a sd card and I had video one moment and the next it wont recognize the videos. I would love to rate this unit higher but i cant, will be returned due to some functions being inoperable.

3 out of 5 eggsMostly positive

Pros: This is a fairly inexpensive unit with many interesting and desirable features. I like the colorful display, with clear and intuitive interface. The touchscreen is properly sensitive. The photos and videos taken with the unit are mediocre, but uploaded photos and videos taken with other technology display clearly and easily on the NMV-155. However, video formats are limited to AVI, WMV, and 3GP.

Cons: 1--Even using good headphones with a long cord, I can't get the radio to tune local stations. All other digital radio devices that I have tune in local stations with no problem. The headphones that come with this unit are not good.
2--When I use the recorder, even with microphone volume turned off, there is a loud hum on the recording.
3--The e-reader splits words at the end of a line. For example, with the word "book," "bo" would be at the end of a line and "ok" would be at the beginning of another. It should not be difficult to end lines with whole words and not count characters.
4--There is bookmarking of video files and text files, but long audiobook files in MP3 format cannot be bookmarked.

Other Thoughts: Extra storage is on a "mini" SD card--not a "micro" or regular SD card. To me, the mini is an unusual format.
