5 out of 5 eggsGreat Set

Pros: Please note that I am reviewing this as a computer speaker system. I bought it as a replacement for the Logitech X-530 set. I utilize these for gaming, viewing streaming video and listening to music. As such, please remember that I am using this in a smaller room and can't speak to how these would perform in a larger area when attached to a home theater.

1) Price - The MSRP is way out-of-line, but if you can get this at the current list price of less than a hundred bucks, it's well worth it. My last set was labeled for computer use and couldn't touch these in terms of clarity and control. In my experience, buying a low-end 'home theater' system is usually preferable to the upper-end 'computer' speakers. I called on this experience when making this purchase and, so far, my theory is holding true.

2) Independent Speaker Volume Control - This feature is great. My last set of speakers were the Logitech X-530's and the bass was either on or off. It had subwoofer control, but the minimum subwoofer level was still too much for my standard listening. With the independent control offered with the MA5806 remote, I can turn the subwoofer to zero volume when needed.

3) Clarity - While I wouldn't say I'm an audiophile, who needs the latest and cutting edge, I do produce my own music and perform a great deal of audio and video editing. One of the major issues you run into with a sub-par sound system is that certain frequencies don't come out of the speaker. This will lead to hearing something on another system that you didn't hear in production. I haven't had that problem with this set. The frequency range is good and the clarity is great. I can crank the set up and it keeps delivering.

Cons: 1) No Independent Volume Control on Unit - Being able to control the speaker levels is great, but the buttons are only present on the remote. If you lose the remote, you'll be stuck at the default volume levels. I thought I would purchase a second remote as a backup, but, after scouring the internet, I've been unable to find one. If this feature is the one that sells it for you, then keep this in-mind.

2) Wire Length - This isn't a problem for me. The wires were perfect for my purposes, but I saw that others were having trouble with this so I thought I'd address it. The speakers don't use the modular cable design, so they simply come out of the speaker and terminate in an RCA plug. I noticed someone mentioned splicing the wires, but that's not necessary! You can buy an RCA coupler for a couple bucks and another RCA cable to act as an extender. I had these lying around so I tested it prior to this review and it worked just fine with loss of clarity or any other issues. So, if wires are a problem for you, consider buying a few couplers and additional RCA cables.

Other Thoughts: Included Cables - The cables included are (1) 3.5mm to RCA Stereo and (3) RCA to RCA Stereo. If you are connecting this to a home PC that is 5.1 compatible, you'll need to buy a couple more 3.5mm to RCA Stereo cables. I was able to get the (2) 3.5mm to RCA cables from Newegg for a little over five bucks.

1 out of 5 eggsStopped working after 4 months

Pros: Well when it was working the sound was pretty good, I liked how the bass sounded and my RCA cables plugged in pretty easy.

Cons: -Only RCA cable plug ins
-Cables are SUPER short! I had to go buy extentions and they were quite difficult to find
-Front right speaker always gave off static if at regular levels or above
-It stopped working after about 4 months and became so quiet that I can barley hear it at full volume with my ear to the speaker.
-The company's customer service number a real number
-The company's cs email doesn't get back to you
-The company's website has been down for maintenance for about 6 years or so

Other Thoughts: Don't buy from this company they do not stand behind their product or even their own business. They won't help me and they won't help you. They may have made good audio equipment at one point, but not today. LEARN FROM MY MISTAKE!

1 out of 5 eggsJUNK

Pros: NONE!! It doesn't get very loud at all, the wiring is really short if you're wanting to hook it up to anything but a PC, and it doesn't even work after about two weeks of use. VERY DISAPPOINTED! Tried giving zero eggs, but I had to mark at least one.

Cons: I paid for it and I'm probably never going to be able to find anyway to get a hold of MA to get my money back. They have no website, no phone numbers, and apparently no customer service.

Other Thoughts: Never again will I buy anything from MA!

5 out of 5 eggsGREAT FOR THE PRICE

Pros: *Small
*Can adjust each speaker independently
*Sleek
*Decent quality
*Simple
*Cheap as dirt (Price-wise)
*Small yet powerfull subwoofer

Cons: *Provided RCA Cables are 3ft long
*Can scratch easily

Other Thoughts: This is a analog only system. If you were unable to tell from the pictures you should be slapped across the face. I would not recommend this for a home theater but it works great for a self system. This is about a 200 watt system, 800 watts is the peak wattage it can not run at 800 watts nonstop.

1 out of 5 eggsNonworking out-of-the-box

Pros: None, none, none!

Cons: No customer service. Company has no developed website. Contact number voicemail only. they do not return calls. Newegg will not back up product. Did not work right out of the box and no one will take it back or refund money. Months of hassle trying to get money back to no avail. Do not buy products from this company!!!!

Other Thoughts: Newegg cannot even get a hold of the company to resolve this issue. Ongoing for several months without satisfaction from Newegg or MA Audio!!!! Buyer Beware, Beware, Beware!!!!

5 out of 5 eggs5 eggs for the price

Pros: Good price for the quality. I paid $99. I would not pay full MSRP. I'm using these as computer speakers. I would not use them for my home entertainment surround, but no out-of-the-box set would meet my needs. I've got a receiver and full range speaker set for that. But that being said, great for your computer. It only comes with one 3.5mm jack to RCA cable though, and it's only about 4 ft. So you need two more (3 if the included ~4 foot cable wont cut it) of those cables to make this work as a computer set. Luckily you can get them off of a popular electronic auction bay for like $1. As another reviewer said, this set does not have an optical port. This makes the set substantially harder to use for any other media purpose. But as a computer speaker set it's perfect. Other sets marketed as 5.1 for your computer are either garbage or way overpriced for what you get.

Ok now this one is big: The included remote lets you adjust EACH SPEAKER INDIVIDUALLY. Let that sink in. Rear speakers farther away than ideal? Crank them up. Bass too high for the neighbors? Turn it down. Yes, I can do that through my sound card's software. But still, this is a nice feature that you don't see on boxed sets often.

Cons: Speaker wires are laughably short. It was enough to set up on my desk, but you couldn't make an entertainment set out of them without splicing in speaker wire (which is easy, but still a nuisance).

I wouldn't recommend this set to compliment your 60" HDTV in the livingroom. But for your PC or maybe that 27" in your bedroom it's right on task. Just keep in mind that it doesn't have an optical port, so for a TV, you'll need a digital to analog converter that actually does 5.1, and those are expensive ($60 - $70)

Other Thoughts: Satellites have decent power but were a bit flat so I went 60 - 40 on the bass to treble. I also increased my 62 and 125 ranges by about 6dBs, and the 250, 8k, and 16k by about 3dBs. This cranked the sub up too much, and it doesn't seem to be responding to me just directly turning it down in my software (or if i unplug the sub-in line... me thinks it also gets bass signal passed in from the L and R speakers, like how subs used to be before dolby and DTS added a line for bass). Thankfully, as I mentioned, you can adjust all speakers with the remote, so I just turned the sub down that way.

Giving it 5 eggs. I mean, I knew it didn't have an optical port (you can tell if you look the set up) going in, and I don't need it. And the speaker wires being short, well from my experience, most boxed sets are like that.

Oh and one last thing. MA Audio makes car audio equipment. And not low market stuff either. So if you're like "man I've never heard of this brand" well that's why. They don't normally make stuff for inside the home, but it isn't some whitevan scam set.

3 out of 5 eggsANALOG ONLY!!!

Pros: The product has a nice sleek look to it.

Cons: No where in the description of this product does it state that it is ONLY analog. In fact the word analog isn't mentioned once. "simple integration to ANY multimedia" and "ANY home theater" and "digital player" were used, but sadly this is NOT true... I have attempted to make this work with my digital RCA output but without buying a very expensive converter it will be imposable.

Other Thoughts: If the dealer would only fully represent the product correctly by simply adding the words "NOT DIGITAL" or "ANALOG ONLY" they would save costumers a lot of disappointment...
