5 out of 5 eggsWireless N ?

Pros: Price is right and there are many nice features. One part of Lofteks product page says it only supports b/g wireless, then another part says it supports wireless N. My router is set to "N only" and this camera works just great. The setup is really simple if you don't read the instructions.

Cons: Like everyone has said, the product instructions blow. While it doesn't record when motion is detected it does send you an email with 5 still shots.

Other Thoughts: If you know anything about basic networking and have a friendly router, toss the instructions and just set up port forwarding with the IP address and port that was setup in the bsearch utility. You probably already have a Dynamic DNS account somewhere so don't forget to run the setDDNS utility so the camera won't try to call home to China !

3 out of 5 eggsPoor man's HooToo

Pros: Easy setup. All features work as advertised.

Cons: Video quality rather disappointing.

Other Thoughts: Bought one of these on sale to go with a couple of HooToo IP206 cams. I was perfectly happy with the HooToos but those were only b/g wifi and this has b/g/n, which was the clincher since I thought the cams were otherwise probably clones of each other.

I am pretty disappointed in the video quality. Much poorer than the HooToo devices. Disappointed enough to consider returning the device for another HooToo.

3 out of 5 eggsso-so device

Pros: The camera is wireless, small, has decent IR vision, and looks easy to mount (haven't actually done so). It's fairly simple to set up, and easy to reset. The software it comes with seems functional enough.

Cons: It's cheap, and you get what you pay for. It can't hold long passwords (don't try one, you'll have to reset it to be able to log back in). I did this a few times with my first one (which later just randomly stopped working and had to get it replaced).

The instructions for how to use the software are terrible. Figuring out how to do much of anything other than reset the IP address and change other admin settings is mostly trial-and-error.

Other Thoughts: Be prepared for issues with this one. Might be better off finding a better one.

4 out of 5 eggsGood camera, spotty tech support

Pros: Very acceptable camera. Good picture for the listed specs. I bought 3 of these and they all work fine. For those of you complaining about colors, you should have read the product description first and then you would have known that the IR lights affect the daytime colors...this happens with any IR camera with full time lights, not just this one.

Cons: As others have noted, comes with a non-standard fixed IP address. Easiest way to overcome this is to just plug it into a laptop ethernet port and configure it that way. No need to change your router IP address to match the camera factory IP address.

Tech support really sucks. Hopefully you won't need it. The website is minimal. No phone support. They are not open until 9 p.m. EST, so if you email them during the day, you likely won't get a response until very early the next day.

Other Thoughts: After setup, if you switch it to wireless mode, neither the search tool and nor the built-in web interface will show wireless MAC address. They display a MAC address, but it's the ethernet address. If you use MAC filtering, you'll need to grab the wireless MACs from your router.

Also, there is no smartphone APP, but I bought IP CAM Viewer (iphone) and it works great! Highly recommend it!

4 out of 5 eggsGood Camera/ Great Night Vision

Pros: Great IR night vision; perfect for a sleeping baby's room, or outdoor surveillance. Lots of ability to move the camera after set-up.

Cons: On separate sub-net than most users; please follow instructions (which are much simpler if you are a windows user...)

This is easy to set-up if you have any network experience; these comments are only for practically new users.

Other Thoughts: The web application that it comes with may be simple, but will meet most users demands without having to use a 3rd party software.

The comments about video quality from other reviewers are not accurate; this camera's night vision is as high quality as you can expect from something from this price point (or even higher).

1 out of 5 eggsPoor video quality

Pros: It works.

Cons: It doesn't work well. If on a scale of 1-10 a $400 acer laptop has great (10) video skype quality, this camera has the worst (1).

Other Thoughts: You can see motion. Within 15 feet you can maybe tell who's in the photo. But it's not much better then that.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks great

Pros: I bought several of the 2200 (black versions) for security cam use while we did 3 month road trip. FANTASTIC. I'm actually ticked that I also installed an alarm system, when these things can do essentially every thing the alarm does at a fraction of the price. I only use the stock software to do a quick setup for brightness/contrast and positioning.

For all other uses, get iSpy and a dropbox acct. I have it linked to a DDWRT router. Wireless signal is pretty good. One thing to remember is that the initial setup requires a hardwire, use 192.168.0.1 (not whatever the manual says), then change to what you want/need.

These are now outside my house and those of several neighbors, due to some jerk gas thieves in the neighborhood. While under roof covers, rain and wind are no big deal. Sensitivity control is very good. IR is good for about 30 feet.

Cons: could be free

4 out of 5 eggsNice caamera!

Pros: These cameras are really pretty nice for 640x480, pan tilt, with infrared.. picture is clear, with ok colors, the audio is ok also. Works great with my blueiris software... didnt really mess around with the provided software too much but it seemed functional.

Cons: none really...
