1 out of 5 eggspoorly designed

Pros: theoretically a great design, to be able to use AA batteries

Cons: the battery cover is fundamentally flawed. It becomes impossible to snap it back on all the way, which then allows water to get inside the battery compartment.
I've gone through two of these units and am now going to switch to a new brand. why can't they just have a screw-on battery cover!?!

3 out of 5 eggsPhilips Sonicare Xtreme 3000 Battery Sonic Toothbrush

Pros: Great price to get a Sonicare toothbrush.
It seems to work very well.

Cons: Water gets in the battery compartment like others have said. This causes the batteries to corrode and leak.
The e Series brush heads are more expensive than other brush heads.

Other Thoughts: I've seen on other sites that some people use petroleum jelly or dielectric grease to keep the battery compartment sealed. I am going to try that on my next one.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat toothbrush

Pros: You can feel the difference from the cheaper Colgate, Crest, etc value priced brushes. Works using magnetic field principle to vibrate the brush, no visible motor. Extremely reasonable price for a brush of this magnitude. Vibrates with a passion.

Cons: Well, not much to say here. The first few times you use it, it almost hurts a bit since it is somewhat aggressive. I've been using this for several weeks now and it doesnt bother one bit anymore. Another con is that you have to engage it when it is in your mouth, otherwise it'll fling the toothpaste onto the floor or your mirror.

Other Thoughts: I wonder how much better the upper end of the Sonic toothbrush is. I can't imagine it would be 3 times better since this is a GOOD brush (I say 3 times because that is about how much more it costs). This is a grea brush and it looks and feels solid, works exceptional as well.

3 out of 5 eggsGreat while it lasts

Pros: Cleans your teeth and tongue very well.

Cons: They don't seem to last more than five or six months before going bad. I've been through two of them so far. I'm shopping now for something different.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat toothbrush

Pros: Works great. I floss and hardly get anything out of in between my teeth because this thing just vibrates it all away.

Cons: It sucks batteries down like crazy. Be ready to buy LOTS of batteries for it.

Other Thoughts: All in all, I like it. Worth the buy in my opinion.

4 out of 5 eggsGood value.

Pros: Inexpensive alternative to the sealed rechargeable Sonicare versions. Portable/travel. You can use AA rechargeable batteries with it.

Cons: With age, there is water infiltration past the rubber gasket around the battery door. Battery door is difficult to remove from the get-go. Toothpaste infiltration past the screw top brush head requires occasional cleaning.

Other Thoughts: Does NE allow non-verified purchasers to review products?

5 out of 5 eggsI love this model with replaceable AAs.

Pros: Replaceable AAs and comparatively inexpensive. I've got a waterpick for example that needs new sub-C Nicads to be soldered-in after several years of service. Not an issue with this design. Just pop in new AA rechargeables. Also travels better than more expensive Sonicare models.

Cons: You do have to take the AAs out to recharge them periodically. There also is no timer that beeps to remind you to move to a new place in your mouth, but this isn't a big deal.

Other Thoughts: Some complain about toothpaste infiltration, but I've never had an issue with this. I just carefully rinse the unit after every use. (I also do not use this daily, but 2-3x/week and it does give a much cleaner result.) The ultrasound does require a very light touch.
