5 out of 5 eggsSimple to Use

Pros: Got this for pending trip out west and found it very easy to use even without reading the directions like most of us men do, then read some of the directions for areas that I got stuck. Programmed the entire trip to OKLA COLO WASH MONT then home to ILL in about half hour or less and saved it to unit now the trip will be ready to use in 2 weeks when we leave sure look forward to trip we have used this to test in local areas also used to get to train station in another town that is difficult to remember because they had detours last time we were there. Free lifetime map upgrades is great. Worth the price with updates

Cons: Wish it had a bigger internal memory but at least it accepts micro SD cards

Pros: Worked straight out of the box. Set up and update on first try with no problem. I owned a 7" Garmin and this one is more advanced with traffic updates.

Cons: None

1 out of 5 eggsstay away from Garmin

Pros: I have an older version (Nuvi 255w). Unit worked fairly well out of the box. However, Garmin's map update system stinks! It doe not work. Tried it twice over the course of 12 months via two different

Cons: Garmin's map update system stinks! It does not work. Tried it twice over the course of 12 months via two different computers. Software is unable to communicate with GPS. Garmin's support is useless at best. I spent $100 for nothing. I will never ever buy another Garmin product.

Other Thoughts: Message to Garmin: If you don't help your customers to update maps, you are digging your own grave!

5 out of 5 eggsPerfect

Pros: Speaks street names - has all the bells and whistles.

Cons: Older versions of Garmin asked you for state, then town. The interface for the address starts with Street Name then town. Not as user friendly as old ui.

Other Thoughts: Love everything about GPS - everything better than my 765 and 205 garmins excpet one quirk mentioned in con.

3 out of 5 eggsTrip vs. Route

Pros: Not a pro or con, but watch what you want. I bought this for the Trip Planning capability. When this unit didn’t function the way I wanted I started extensive running this issue down. Bottom line the Trip planning is just that you plan a trip and you MUST go to those waypoints before this unit will show you the next location. Even shaping points you MUST go to. This is a big change from last year’s model which was a Route planner. You weren’t required to go to the points the unit showed you the entire route and would recompute if necessary. The goal was the end point. So I ended up getting the last year’s model 1490 to get what I wanted. It’s too late to return this year’s model 2555. Live and learn.

Cons: Nice features but I didn’t get what I expected and would have gotten last year’s model if I knew the difference.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome Product

Pros: Updates easily and can be done up to 4 times in a year. The screen is large and the speed turns red when you exceed posted speed limit. The menu is different from older GPS, but its very easy to learn how to use.

Cons: Fingerprints on screen are difficult to remove, and screen is difficult to see at extreme angles so the passenger can not see easily. (could also be seen as a Pro)

Other Thoughts: The voice has come a long way yet I still turn it off. I would recommend this to others.
