DC 2/15/2011 6:01:38 AM Tech Level: 5/5 Ownership: 4/5	Rating: 2/5Know your climate before buying Pros: Friction mounts like these are good if you live in a place that never dips below 40 degree year round. Cons: Suction cup on hard plastic surface does not work well if the weather is really cold, find this out the hard way after move. Other Thoughts: I recently moved from the southwest area of the US to the northeast, the winter is giving me a brand new look on what equipment is suitable for use. Suction cup based friction mounts works great in southern California or Arizona, but will work very poorly in cold weather, most suction cups are designed to work with glass, and for infrequent removal, a friction dashmount in my mind should work such that the GPS can be removed easily and the friction mount put away. You can do this easily in warm weather, but in cold weather the suction cup and the hard plastic on the mount will often not provide enough holding force for the GPS to stay in place. Having my GPS and Android Phone crashing a few times into my lap when I am driving during winter has taught me to definitely buy the OEM's bean bag mounts with the specific latch adapter instead of the suction cup based solutions in you live in places with cold winter. Will work very well for dashboards that slope slightly in one direction or does not have concave or convex slope. Garmin windshield mount suction cup fit and worked. It is just ok for dashboard on Sequoia. I would get beanbag type instead. Cons: This is not a bean bad type mount so it does not conform to all dashboards. It does not conform to dashboard if it slopes in both directions or is concave or convex. Description does not point this out. Did you find this review helpful? Sells for a lot cheaper than the original TomTom ($39) Dashmount Cons: none. Other Thoughts: It also has a small safety hing (optional), not really needed, but its there if you want it.
