Using the latest technology and the world's first Triton Color E Ink screen the jetBook Color was originally focused on the education market for students to keep track of their schedules, check homework, and eventually replace all paper textbooks. With the success experienced in Eastern Europe, we've decided to release the jetBook Color worldwide so everyone can enjoy an eReading device with tons of functionality and a non-backlit display that's safe on the eyes. Virtually unlimited format support and endless battery life make the jetBook Color the best device for school work, business documents, leisure reading and everything in between.

You can quickly lock the keyboard to avoid inadvertent key presses when carrying the device

Turning Wi-Fi on/off is performed just by sliding a switch on the device case

The "Internet Library" subsection was added so that you can access digital libraries

The ebook reader interface was enhanced to better suit your needs. To select a single word, for example, just hold the stylus down on it for a second

A series of menu items now may be activated by voice commands

Support for screen rotation (portrait & landscape modes) – the "Rotate Screen" function

The drawing mode was enriched by the addition of the "Clear Page" and "Clear all Pages" functions that allow you to delete all drawings from the current page or from the entre book, respectively

Quick navigation to the list of books you recently viewed with the ability to open any of them

Now you can turn on or off an audible click you hear when you tap the device screen or press a key. The functions are configured independently

The number of interface languages was increased to 14

When the device is turned off, a picture screensaver is displayed

4 out of 5 eggsJetBook Color

Pros: --Color Screen
--Built in Dictionary that doesn't suck
--Mark for Summary w/ stylus
--Draw on pdf's with stylus
--Reads pdf's
--Reads most formats
--Takes microSD card for expansion
--Can read outside
--Long battery life

Really good for reading scientific papers

Cons: --Expensive
--Text search is a pain
--Switching stylus mode is a pain
--Uses windows CE
--Software is a bit incomplete

I feel that the device has a bunch of unneeded features that make it heavier/more expensive than needed. Wifi is never used, and isn't needed... mp3 ability I don't care about

Other Thoughts: I use this device mainly for reading scientific papers and journals. As a graduate student, some of my journal subscriptions are electronic only, and I tend to print off about a 400-500 pages a month in reading. I get migraines from looking a computers too long, so I wanted a reader that was passive (and that I could take outside). Some of the articles and journals have color figures, so I wanted a device that had color-- jetbook color is the only thing that fits that bill right now (Dec. 2012).

If you are looking for a reader (NOT a tablet), then I confess being pretty happy with my jetbook color. My biggest pet peeve is that switching the stylus mode is cumbersome-- I tend to either stay in drawing mode, or stay in highlight (mark for summary) mode. The drawings are saved, the mark for summary highlights are saved as a text file. Having a built in dictionary is really nice for reading, and being able to load a 16GB mircoSD card (haven't tried higher, but rated to 32GB) is awesome. I can create sub-folders on the mircoSD card in 'My Books' and the reader will keep the file hierarchy.

Battery life is about 10,000 page turns, but depending on you are doing, it can feel shorter-- every menu you bring up is a a page view, and marking for summary or drawing doesn't let the processor sleep. Even so, I get a few days charge at a time in 'heavy' use when I'm marking a lot up. Just reading and turning pages without using the stylus will make the reader last for a looong time. The last page stays up, even if you put the device to sleep manually, which I like. The reader does remember where you were last when switching between readings, so you can read multiple items at a time. Table of contents in pdfs are recognized, and you can jump to sections easily enough.

Really good for pdfs-- did I mention that? Screen is perfect size for mimicking 8.5 by 11 paper. Color quality is slightly lower res then the B/W, and color clarity is dependent on ambient light. In dim conditions, it looks like a grayscale device-- take it outside, or read next to a lamp, and the colors pop.

Some additional software updates would be nice, but the device is functional enough to use without. Text searching was something I was excited about, but it is not well implemented-- by default, it only searches the current page; you have to 'reflow' the entire document to search throughout the whole thing, and text entry is already a bit painful. For searching, it's faster to bring up my laptop.
