2 out of 5 eggsAnd the drivers are...where?

Pros: It appears to be working and has a nice black finish. The price isn't bad either.

Cons: I bought this because some USB ports are going dead on my desktop. The instruction manual is Chinese. Installing a PCI-E device should not be hard: click it in, turn the computer on, install drivers, done. Not so here. The CD that was provided does NOT have the drivers for Windows 7 x64 although it claims to. The Orico website does not have the Renesas drivers either. I had to dig through the release notes, find the chipset, search through forums for a card that had similar chips, and download from a third party site. The included EXE or .inf files did not work. It is pretty bad when you can't bundle drivers for your own product...If you want to work for an hour longer than necessary buy this card. If not pay ten dollars more and get a card that has an English instruction manual / drivers included.

1 out of 5 eggsIt looks pretty... but that's it.

Pros: None

Cons: I bought this card to expand my USB 3.0 ports on a Gigabyte Z68A-D3H-B3 motherboard running 3 AMD 7750 graphic cards operating 5 monitors. Right from the git-go I could see this card didn't want to play nice with my F13 bios. Two monitors went black and the other three were permanently inverted. My other USB 2.0 ports then became erratic. I tried a few more reboots and adjustments but it was obvious this card was not going to work in my system after a half hour of trying to adjust MY system to suit this card (when it should have been the other way around). I pulled the card and a few days later thought I would try it in my ASUS P5G41T. This card didn't want to play nice with the bios and was forcing me into the bios on every boot to RE-confirm my settings... then when I got through the bios POST the computer could not find my hard drive. I yanked this half-baked Orico card and everything went back to normal. This card is nothing more than "incomplete" engineered junk.

Other Thoughts: Don't waste your time buying this thing. I gave it a 1 Egg rating... if they had a zero rating I would give it that.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat!

Pros: NEC/Renesas chipset, so plug-and-play with the Linux 2.6.34 kernel. Awesome!

I was able to hit 135 MB/sec write speeds to a Seagate Backup Plus 4TB drive.

Cons: With multiple drives going, throughput topped out well under 250 MB/sec so, as expected for the price, this appears to be a PCI Express 1x card and can't hit max USB 3.0 speeds. Still way faster than a USB 2.0 card, though.

Other Thoughts: Great performance for the money. I did not try on Windows.
