1 out of 5 eggsNetwork crippler

Pros: It's small

Cons: Cripples the network. Made the entire network slow. Also overheats if plugged directly into a port. Has to be used with a USB extension, defeating the purpose of the small size.

4 out of 5 eggsGood, but doesn't like heat

Pros: Small

Cons: Acts erratically when hot.

Other Thoughts: Had the worst time keeping this adapter connected. Worked fine when the computer first booted, but would then start dropping. RSS and SQ were pretty good and was locking in at mostly mid speed rates. Even though I didn't think it would help, I got a USB extension. When I pulled out the adapter it was pretty toasty. Cooled down right away and I put it in the extension. Locked in right away, stayed cool and hasn't faltered since. PC has a ridiculous video adapter right below the USB ports so that's where all the heat is coming from. Probably would be fine in a laptop, but avoid a port near the fan discharge.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Product

Pros: Easy installation. Installed on a linux computer without the need for a proprietary driver. True plug and play: just put it in a USB slot and connect to your router. Produces a reliable connection. Very inexpensive, but certainly not a low end product.

Cons: None really, but I should point out that the item ships from China, and mine arrived 14 days after the day I ordered it. Also, it arrived, very modestly, in a small mail pouch without a protective cover over the USB plug. But it did arrive, and it arrived undamaged. So maybe a lot of packaging really isn't necessary after all.

Other Thoughts: If you don't mind waiting a couple of weeks, you might as well save some money and buy this one for you won't do any better, quality-wise.

1 out of 5 eggsDon't do it

Pros: very compact, good range. if you are using this for basic web surfing (email, we browsing, facebook, ect...) you will be fine.

Cons: gets hot when doing any real downloading, and will make your system go to blue screen. since it gets hot so fast, your download speeds are inconsistent. if you are into online gaming, p2p networking, heavy downloads, steam, just forget it.

3 out of 5 eggsWorks, When You Find Drivers

Pros: - VERY small
- Nice speeds
- CHEAP

Cons: - The driver disc is a 3" inch disc and the drivers do not work properly
- Drivers not located on manufacture's website
- Little to no support from manufacture
- Bad speeds when further than 20ft from router

Other Thoughts: Driver installation was a pain!

I found drivers that work.

- When you let Windows 7 automatically download the drivers for this device it downloads and installs RealTek RTL8188CU drivers. If you search "RealTek RTL8188CU drivers" you should find suitable drivers.

2 out of 5 eggsWorked great for a few weeks...

Pros: Tiny, easy to set up, discrete.

Cons: Stopped working after a few months. Well, that isn't really true, it just runs slow as hell now. I've tried going to the ORICO website but it's half in chinese or korean even with 'english' selected at the top of the site. The 'download drivers' link gives an internal server error.

I'll never buy another Orico product, ever. Newegg, why don't you start screening your products more closely like you did in the early days?

Other Thoughts: If it worked on day 80 like it did on day 1 I'd love it.
