5 out of 5 eggsNice little device

Pros: Easy to setup. Build-in wizard to guide you through the setup. Hardware button selection mode.

Cons: The only con I see is that it does NOT support HTTPS in it's web GUI. This is especially important if you use remote management on this device.

Other Thoughts: Very easy to use and setup. First thing I did was update the firmware which was several versions behind. Noticed they were supporting the Russia stuff with it. The recent firmware update they removed it. Not sure what the benefits would be since I'm in USA so it's moot point.

The biggest issue I see that it does NOT support HTTPS (SSL). I don't see anywhere in the settings to enable this. Mind you I'm an advanced network guru and do this for a living.

Reason I say this it's because when I switched it to router mode you have to connect it via the wireless which is in the clear with no encryption so anybody nearby can sniff your admin password so what I had do is use the default user ID and password of admin just so I can log onto it and then enable the wireless security. Once I've done that I can go ahead and change the admin password. There is no way to set this up while in "client access" mode. There is where HTTPS (ssl) would been nice. However, once you set this up and wireless security enabled then it's not big of a deal. From then on everything you do will be secured.

Besides that con everything works well with it. Love the pleather carrying case. Although was a little curious as to why it needs two USB connections just to power it when it should only use one. Not a big con but something to keep in mind with limited USB ports.

Other than that love the wireless-N option. A little disappointed that it does not support 5Ghz but at this price point when it's on sale not really going to complain.

Overall happy with it.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat little product

Pros: Excellent, does everything it says, no dropped connections at about 100 feet thru multiple walls to a Linksys EA3500. They include a carrying case with US AC, DC and USB->DC (5V) adapter. Small slider switch on back of unit to switch between router/bridge/client modes quickly.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: We used this as a bridge to connect an expensive ultrasound machine to the encrypted wifi at a medical facility. Since the machine only had ethernet this little adapter worked flawlessly for this purpose. We attached it with velcro to the back of the medical imaging device and used the included USB to DC adapter to power it from one of the imaging device USB ports.

5 out of 5 eggsSmaller than it looks

Pros: Can be used 3 ways. As a wireless router, a plain access point to an existing router, or as a wireless client and convert an Ethernet only device to wireless. I just plugged my in the router and gave it power and it just worked. It was much smaller than I thought. About 2/3 the size of a BlackBerry.

Cons: Can't access the admin screen with Chrome and Android.

Other Thoughts: I can get to the admin console using FireFox on Linux besides the recommended IE.

1 out of 5 eggsGood router, BAD adapter....

Pros: Compact size, included ethernet cable, carrying case.

Cons: Power supply is limited to 100-120V only!! Are you kidding?? This won't work where I travel to foreign countries like Hong Kong, Singapore, PR China, S. Korea, Australia, UK, Germany, etc. that require 220-240V!! Not a true travel adapter if you plan to use it overseas like I do.

Other Thoughts: An otherwise fine product ruined by a very limited power supply. Disappointed. If an iPod or iPhone can have a smallish compact AC adapter with 100-240V range, I'm sure Trendnet can achieve same.

Manufacturer Response:

4 out of 5 eggsPortable Router for Traveling US only

Pros: The size of the device is small and easy to carry during traveling.

Cons: Just realize that the power adaptor is only good for 110V. It's only good to travel in the US...not the worldwide traveling. A little disappointed due to this inconvenience.

4 out of 5 eggsnice access point

Pros: Currently providing WAN access to my WD TV Live. Haven't checked throughput but I stream movies at 1080p with no lag or stutter.
Pushbutton configuration was nice.

Cons: It does get hot if left on for hours or longer. Without air circulation underneath it will overheat and malfunction. I let the flex of the ethernet cable tip it up so the bottom is in open air and no more problem.

Other Thoughts: Haven't tried it as a travel router. It does work well as a cheap, easy way to provide ethernet to devices without wireless.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat little router with one problem

Pros: Easy to set up, good throughput, integrates with existing network seamlessly. Decent signal strength.

Cons: Setup only works with IE

Other Thoughts: I bought this to use to extend the range of my wireless into the living room on the other side of the house. The fact that it wires into the LAN is a great plus for that purpose. The setup was very simple, with one caveat- the setup only works in IE. And for no real reason it appears. If your only wireless computers are Macs or other non-MS OSes (or you uninstalled IE), you're out of luck on setting it up. For the price and size, you can't really go wrong if this isn't a problem for you.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks Great

Pros: Very small, nice carry case, comes w/usb & wall power supply.
Easy to set up, I had it set up w/in 20 mins.
Perfect for frequent travellers who needs more then one internet connection.
Highly recomend, would buy another one when is on sale again.

Cons: Signal is not the best, but for use in close quarters like in hotel rooms, it's not really a con.
