5 out of 5 eggsWorks better than all the rest

Pros: Good price for the quality of service it provides.

Cons: Would be great if it was free!

Other Thoughts: I went through 6 other N adapters, some claimed dual band, none of them delivered. With the right setup I have achieved 270 mbps 100% of the time. I have bought 2 more of these. All are working flawlessly.

1 out of 5 eggsThe product worked well

Pros: This adapter allowed me to have speedy internet connectivity in my desktop.

The aesthetic is there, it is a sleek, glossy adapter.

It was quite large, I was glad they included an extension cable.

Cons: This failed after about 4 months, I was hoping it would last for much longer. I've tried to use it with multiple computers but it just stopped working. Windows now registers it as an unidentifiable USB and the LED no longer is lit.

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing!!

Pros: Very strong connection signal compared to Trendnet internal PCI card with 3...yes 3! antennae. Had other issues with some built in wireless adapters and USB adapters (not Trendnet branded). This adapter significantly increased connection strength and distance. I now own 2 and love them!

Cons: none.

2 out of 5 eggsWorked great for a while...then died

Pros: Brought my 1st-gen MacBook Pro (which has well-known problems with its internal WiFi) back from the wireless dead.

Cons: After two months, it just crapped out - the green light failed to go on when it was plugged in - I think it wasn't getting power. Stopped working on all the other machines I tested it on too.

It was a great adapter, now it's just a waste of $45 and TrendNet's RMA process is just atrocious.

4 out of 5 eggs2.5x Faster Than My Wired Connection

Pros: This adapter works pretty well and I have not experienced the overheating issues that other people have complained about. I have paired it with TrendNET's TEW-672GR and they work great once configure correctly (see Other Thoughts). I have the router on the main floor of my house (1,820 sqft) and the router is upstairs and still gets an "excellent" signal. I would recommend this product people looking at getting their way into an wireless N network on the cheap.

Cons: Not able to actually connect at 300 Mbps, however I average 270Mbps.

Other Thoughts: After struggling with low bit rates (30-70 Mbps) I was able to resolve the issue when I contacted tech support. I had to change the settings on my router (TEW-672GR) to the following:

Under Wireless -> Basic -> HT Physical Mode change Channel BandWidth from the default 20 to 20/40.

Also under Wireless -> Basic -> Wireless Network -> Frequency (Channel) set to specific channels, try channels 1, 6, 11 first then the remaining 8 available.

Also, be sure the Cipher is set to AES, if TKIP is used the connection will only be 54Mbps.

Now I'm averaging over 270 Mbps!

1 out of 5 eggsSucks

Pros: none.

Cons: Only gives me one or two bar(s) for singal strength indication. Drops connections constantly no matter what drivers I use and no matter which USB port I plug it into. Tested it on two computers and I get the same poor results. The thnig overheats after five minutes of use. My laptop's built-in Intel WiFi 5100 card gives me five or four bars.

Other Thoughts: Stay away from USB WiFi adapters. Buy PCI WiFi cards for laptops or desktops. Bought a EDIMAX EW-7728in card for my desktop and it fixed my problem.

3 out of 5 eggsGood price if only you don’t care about it being “not WIFI Certified and Windows WHQL Digitally Signed.”

Pros: (1)Newegg pricing was fair. (2)Unit installed ok and the best speed was 270Mbps sometimes.

Cons: (1)Unit is not WIFI certified for A, B, and G. (2)Windows driver are not WHQL/Digitally signed. (3)Could not tell if this unit can use 40Mhz channel. Router displayed only using single channel 20Mhz.

Other Thoughts: Used with Wireless router DGL-4500, WRT610N, and DIR-825

1 out of 5 eggsDo not purchase

Pros: None

Cons: Does not work on my primary (desktop) when used in conjunction with D-link DIR-655 n draft 2 router (software crashes (I use vista)). Worked on my HP mini netbook, but had slower data rates then the onboard broadband g chip.

Other Thoughts: Will attempt to exchange with newegg as product fails to work for my desktop. I have had the d-link router for a week now and love it. I had never heard of TRENDnet before and thought I might give them a shot. Learn from my pain and do not buy this lemon.

5 out of 5 eggsThis adapter is solid

Pros: Dual band, doesn't overheat, doesn't disconnect, and a fair price.

Cons: None so far

Other Thoughts: From what I can tell, a lot of people are giving wireless adapters a bad wrap because the marketing for WiFi N products is misleading. The poor interoperability of WiFi N & G on the same band is usually the cause of most of the problems at 2.4Ghz. I was looking for a WiFi N adapter that could connect on the 5Ghz band so I could keep my N traffic separate from my G. So far this has done the trick on my Vista desktop connected to my Linksys WRT600N running DD-WRT v24 SP1.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks Fantastic!!!

Pros: Bought this to replace my old linksys wmp54g since it was getting a poor signal. Plugged this in and loaded the driver from the disc provided and worked immediately. I don't have any experience with TRENDnet products so I took a chance and am very pleased so far.

Cons: None, unless you consider it takes up a USB slot a con.

Other Thoughts: Newegg is #1. I will always & forever recommend them to everyone who asks where I purchase from. They may not be the cheapest "everytime" but the couple extra dollars I spend are well worth the peace of mind and customer support Newegg.com provides.

I ordered this mid-day and received it the following day to my door and shipping was FREE!! Thanks Newegg!!
