5 out of 5 eggsBest access point EVER

Pros: No dropouts
Extremely long range
Looks super cool

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I have lived in my current house for about 13 years now. I have always struggled with an access point that will not require frequent resets and that would cover my house 100%. This thing does the job perfectly. I used to have 40% on Ipad and <20 from my phone in master bathroom. My son struggled with reception upstairs (directly above old access point). ZERO problems with this Ubiquiti one. It is such a solid product that I now run my PS3 wireless instead of over ethernet. I could not be more pleased with this product and can NOT recommend it enough. The UniFi software that is used works on Win7 perfectly and was actually the easiest access point config ever. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!

5 out of 5 eggsGreat for roaming between access points

Pros: I used these access points in large houses (4000 sq. ft. and above) where a single router or access point can't reach the whole house. Even better is that these control clients roaming between them. No longer is it up to the client when it wants to switch from on access point to another. With the Zero Handoff feature enabled, the access point forces the client to move to the higher strength access point. Macs are especially stubborn about switching and this fixes their "stickiness". If you buy these, you would DISABLE the wi-fi on your router an d only use these - as many as you need to cover your property.

Cons: Best if you have someone to do the wiring/mounting for you if you're not handy to get a professional cable run and mounting.

Other Thoughts: Just beware of these items. They are power over ethernet. You have to have a power outlet near the access point or run a cable from the POE injector brick to the access point. There is no web interface like with most routers via an ip address. You have to install/run their controller software from a computer and you must have java installed. Again, not a big deal - just different.

5 out of 5 eggsSuperb equipment

Pros: This thing is terrific. It's priced fairly. It has high power and high throughput, which makes it perfect for the educational setting I'm using it in. The build quality is very good. It has a setup scheme that's a little complex for a one-unit installation, but obviously scales up nicely.

Cons: None worth mentioning

Other Thoughts: Follow the enclosed installation instructions.

5 out of 5 eggsThese things rock

Pros: The units work seamlessly together. The software is easy to setup and use even for a non-techy person

Cons: Does not like McAfee during the setup process. Had trouble for a long time getting it to adopt the unit until I temporarily disabled the firewall and virus protection. Then it set up easily and kept working after I re-enabled McAfee.

3 out of 5 eggsFirst was DOA...

Pros: Powerful access point at a good price! Easy to manage with free downloaded software. Power Over Ethernet (POE) adapter included. Several mounting options (wood, drywall, drop ceiling).

Cons: Does not come with management software in the box. Non-standard 24V POE ....standard is 48V.

Other Thoughts: ...2nd arrived in good shape. I work in IT, and I've experienced many enterprise-level Access Points (APs). This AP is great for home or office and has power to spare! I have a 2500 sq-ft house with lots of concrete walls, and even on medium power this AP reaches everywhere I need with a good signal. Full power takes it to my property lines and beyond.

Negative comments about my phone conversation with Newegg would be a guideline violation, so I won't talk about it.

5 out of 5 eggsFirst Ubiquiti AP

Pros: Long range. Simple interface. Clean looking. Nice mounting bracket. POE included. PRICE!!!

Cons: No gig Ethernet port. Only operates in the 2.4 Ghz band. Neither really a con at this price point.

Other Thoughts: I should have bought one of these earlier. I tried using 3 other brand of consumer grade wireless routers to provide full coverage in a somewhat long 2000+ sq. foot ranch house before finally choosing to buy this.

Range galore!! The range on this thing is solid. I set the unit up temporarily in the center of the house. The signal can easily be reached in any room upstairs or in the basement, as well as down the 50' driveway and pretty much throughout the yard (~ 1 acre).

I almost bought two, but as a previous reviewer said, it was overkill.

For the money this thing is hard to beat. The software is clean and easy to use. It is really geared toward business use, but can also be deployed easily at home.

As time goes on I will post again on the longevity/issues/etc.

5 out of 5 eggsStable and long range

Pros: Very stable. Very long range, even inside house with two to three stories. Controller software easy to use. Once settings are done, you don't need the controller software on with the PC. The device selling point is stablility plus long range. There is no bells and whistle here. Just reliable and stable.

Cons: More expensive than other consumer grade access points.

1 out of 5 eggsDOA

Pros: Nice looking

Cons: The first one I received was dead on arrival. I am going to hope this was an isolated incident and try an RMA for the same model.

1 out of 5 eggsawful at best

Pros: really?

Cons: all

Other Thoughts: Simple interface? Get to it via it's own IP (like it has a default IP in the setup)? have to install their proprietary software to configure it? The GUI is all wiz bang and drops and hides flash/java nonsense....I'm only doing this because I'm about to RMA it. For the lousy 80 bucks or so, I thought I could use it elsewhere for one of my customers, but definitely not. This thing is going back on principal, even it was a dollar. This is someone reinventing the wheel.
