They are pretty bright and will work good in certain situations. I just traded out my closet bulb with one of these. It is nowhere near as bright as the 100w bulb that it replaced, but it is plenty bright enough for what I need. I don't use the closet light very often, however, when you consider that I do accidently leave the light on occasionally, it is not hard to see that it will pay for itself fairly quickly.
