1 out of 5 eggsDo NOT buy this product

Pros: None. I had to return 2 models. Both were buggy and crashed.

Cons: This media streamer has a horrible interface. The remote is tiny with ill-placed buttons. the most important button is smaller than the others and is off to the side. Very strange.

But most importantly, I had to return 2 models because they both crashed repeatedly and on different TVs and with various media formats. This is a horrible product and I wasted over a month getting the media players mailed, tested, returned, etc. I'm buying an older version of the WD TV player as a gift, which I already own and know it works with MKV and MP4 files.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat little device for playing video files on a tv

Pros: * plug in play no setup

* accepts NTFS formatted hard drives a plus for me since I didn't need to format.

* Plays most files I threw at it except for a weird mpeg-2 files showed a "can't play" message. Even plays mpeg 4 and x264 format files for tv shows!

Cons: *Sound could be a bit louder I needed to crank my TV up to 45 out of 60 just to hear movies. My divx player never really went past 20.

*apparently only accepts 2tb hard drives or less. Which is fine since I need to spread my data in case of loss.

*Doesn't have Netflix or run apps but I bought it for movie files anyway.

Other Thoughts: For just 45 bucks its way cheaper than a blue ray player especially a PS3 and does what I need it to do. The sound thing only bugs me a bit but it's easy to ignore. Playing files instead of disks is amazing since burn process can make skips from scratches. Now I just need to put everything on hard drives :P

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Media Player

Pros: Unit is well designed. Comes with remote that has glow in the dark keys. Remote is needed to select the video out mode. Love this thing! just plug wall wart in, plug in a USB stick with a movie, plug in HDMI cable and off you go!

Cons: None Really.

Other Thoughts: This unit comes directly from China, so it will take the full 5 days. The package comes with all the customs stamps direct from China. But it does come well packed and the little unit works great! Saves me from spending hundreds more on a TV capable of playing movies from the USB port.

3 out of 5 eggsOK but Beware

Pros: Does play everything very nicely.
Easy to hook up.

Cons: Beware. Make sure your amp/rec have the capability to decode the audio from the HDMI and pass it to the speakers. It has no HD optical or cable output to patch into an amp so you will not receive 5.1 sound unless you have a newer amp that can pass HDMI audio thru to speakers.

5 out of 5 eggsSurprising..Works Pretty Darn Well

Pros: I wasn't really expecting much from this thing, but to my surprise it handles just what it says it does. 16:9, 4:3. Definition is very good. My PS3 died on me, (can't afford another right now) so I'm a little spoiled by the features it had, but if you need a media player and can't afford to spend a ton, this sucker works! The little booklet (manual) that came with it scared me a bit. The English is SO bad that I was afraid to hook this thing up to my 55" Sammy (my baby) BUT, fear not. It works just fine!

Cons: The information that comes with it is almost impossible to understand. (actually, IT IS impossible to understand) But, if you have any experience with this kind of thing all you'll need to do is a little experimenting and you'll figure out what does what.

Other Thoughts: The unit (base) itself is pretty lightweight (ok, cheaply made) but it does the job. The remote is actually a little more solid than the base, which I would have thought would be the other way around. I paid a little too much for the thing (the internet playing games with me, the price dropped as soon as I ordered it!) but in the 30 buck range, hey, it isn't fancy, but it actually works pretty well for what it is. It does what they say it does. I'm pleasantly surprised.

5 out of 5 eggsGood Player & Great Price

Pros: The little player is small and easy to hook up and plays from SD cards or USB devices. So far it plays all of the files that I have perfectly.

Cons: When I first plugged it in the video rolled and the text on the screen was not in English. The booklet didn't have a fix listed. I contacted the company by e-mail and they responded very quickly. They asked if it was in AV or HDMI, it was AV, and to click the P/N (PAL/NTSC) button on the remote. This stopped the video rolling. I then clicked the Setup button on the remote and it was a split screen but not in English and there was a check by the first item in the list on the right. I used the arrow button on the remote to move to the second choice, still not English, then the third and it was English.

So all in all the booklet could have had a bit more on the button explanations but the customer service was very quick to respond.

Other Thoughts: I think it is a good buy as it makes it easy to play videos anywhere on any TV.
