1 out of 5 eggsbuyer beware

Pros: cheap

Cons: cheap - box was beaten in product looked to be used and was missing ac adapter. Contacted the seller tomtop they offered to refund me $4.00 or send a replacement adapter. I chose the adapter. The adapter they sent is European with some sort of US adapter that sticks out and is just not manageable. Very disappointed in both tomtop and newegg. Newegg should be careful in who they chose to offer as a seller I will not be trusting their referrals in the future. Now I have to find and purchase an acceptable ac adapter.

1 out of 5 eggsTerrible image quality, IR LEDs are useless.

Pros: It works.

Cons: The image quality from this camera is abysmal day or night. Very fuzzy, tons of noise. The IR LEDs are good for about 6 to 8 feet. Beyond that it is darkness.

Other Thoughts: The camera is a Foscam FI8910W clone and it can be flashed with that firmware. Unfortunately the image quality is nowhere near the model that it is trying to emulating. I would suggest looking at other brands.

5 out of 5 eggsQuality Cam

Pros: Wireless and easy to set up once you find the IP address it is assigned.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: Step 1 remove the gold nut for better wireless
Step 2 set up the cam via wired link, access the cam based on the IP assigned, enable wireless and select the SSID to connect with
Step 3 mount the cam
Step 4 use the cam access via IP to position to desired direction
Step 5 admire your work

4 out of 5 eggsworks, setup is difficult

Pros: good price and many founctions. WiFi works--- Just need to refresh twice to find wi-fi network.

Cons: no for starter people to setup. I have to get an expert to get this camera going. Once up, it works great.

Other Thoughts: will buy anotehr one.

4 out of 5 eggsFix the WiFi

Pros: Works really well. Control of the pan/tilt is good. Night Vision works well. No problems maintaining a connection (see below for WiFi fix).

Cons: Pain to setup (about 2 hours). Needed to remove a lock-nut washer to maintain a good WiFi connection. The WiFi settings are kind of misleading. If you like to have your WiFi router setup for non-broadcast you may have to temporary change and let the IPcamera setup automatically.

Other Thoughts: The WiFi did not work out of the box. It could not maintain a connection or find networks. The problem is that the antenna does not make a good connection. To fix, simply remove the gold "lock nut washer" and screw the antenna back in. Also, make sure to setup your WiFi router for broadcast SSID and do the "auto" configure on the IPCamera (the setup parameters are not as expected, I think this has to do with the Chinese to English translation). Afterwards, you can setup your WiFi router to non-broadcast and use the settings that you just captured.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks Great

Pros: Works great! Works well with synology surveillance station. Just need to select a foscam camera from the list with the same functionality/resolution, etc... I bought one to test how well it worked, I'll be buying 2-3 more now to round out my home security system. Pan and Tilt is pretty responsive. Video is the best you can expect from 640x480 at 20fps.

Cons: 2 pages of instructions are really useless.

Other Thoughts: Easy setup instructions.

Plug the camera in your router with an ethernet cable. Turn it on, then go to a PC on your network and find the camera, Angry IP Scanner works good, or check your wireless router's DHCP list for the camera's IP. Then once you find the camera connect to the web interface and get to setting it up for your wireless network. Pick an obscure Port, I like something in the 9000's, like 9801 so that way you can have multiple cameras online with different ports. The camera has UPnP functionality so if you have UPnP set up on your router the camera will register it's open port on your router and open the port up itself. if you don't have UPnP set up on your router you'll need to open the port up yourself.

Set the cam up on my back patio and set up the alarm and alert functionality for testing and now every time my dogs go outside I get an email with pictures of my dogs on the patio.

4 out of 5 eggsGood buy

Pros: This camera has audio and the ability for 2 way communication. the clarity of images is good. the Nightvision works great. the ability to move the camera wirelessly is great.

Cons: the audio does not work through browser or I have not found the right setting to make it work. was actually going to return it because i thought it was broken. however i download the iphone app and all was well. you can hear audio but there is a slightly annoying buzzing sound when things are quite. the recording on the PC is not throughly explained. although im sure it is possible i do not need it for what i use it for. what was not clear and took some time to figure out is that not only do you need to perform port forwarding but the out of network address they give you is wrong. the address is the same as the in network but the port it uses (the ending number) is different. Also the bright green light saying the camera is on and working is not only annoying but it is super bright. not something you want to point at a sleeping baby. I used electrical tape to cover it. just be careful not to cover the infared led's or night vision will be affected. the 2 way communication is not great. there is no way to turn up the audio volume and it is not loud enough to hold a conversation or yell through. power cord is kinda short for a up in corner install.

Other Thoughts: This works great as a baby monitor. your typical baby monitor will cost more and will not have all these features. if you use this as baby monitor then you could care less about features that aren't supported (or really tough to figure out how to unlock) on the web browser on your PC. You can also give out guest passes to your family friends and they can log on using there own username and password. there is also a log to see is actually signing in and how long they were watching.

4 out of 5 eggsNot for Beginners...

Pros: -Night Vision
-Connects to your wireless network (its wireless)!
-has an intercom where you can listen and speak through the camera.
-alarm and email notification services plus motion detection
-DDNS, FTP and UPNP settings
-Comes with a mounting Bracket

Those are some really great features to the camera and make the price on sale very worthwhile.

Cons: Instructions are not for advanced features. They do not cover connecting to your wireless network, or any of the operating procedures. The instructions are a small booklet that has two pages. It covers a few steps like 1) position your camera and plug it into the router 2) put CD software in computer and run setup...
-Setup Software is not in English. The CD that comes with the camera is used to locate the camera when your router gives it a DHCP address. WHen the CD starts up, the language is in Japanese.
-Camera Plastic is glossy which to me is a con because it makes the camera more noticeable. Some may like that form of Prevention but not me. I want discretion.
-Options menu is much like a router configuration

All in all the camera is really great. The picture quality is good and there are some amazing features to this camera. Although the setup software is in another language, once you locate the camera and login, setting it up is much like setting up an old Linksys router

Other Thoughts: I bought another one after setting up this one.
